I gained weight while working out. Will I get thinner? -

I gained weight while working out. According to others, it s because of the muscle mass I m gaining. I m on a weight loss program. Will I eventually lose weight and become thinner?

It could be that you have replaced fat with muscles which is heavier but it also could be that you are not doing the right types of exercise. I am no Doctor or Sports/Fitness person but I know the weight going up would definitely be correct. This is because your muscles are building and muscles are heavier than fat. I am guessing, yes you will lose weight. My brother works out and wants to lose weight too so I guess the same will happen to him.Hope it helped,Dusty!

Absolutely! Happened to me too. I put on a little in the first month, the second month I lost about 5lb and it went well from then on. Your best bet is to take your measurements - you ll be surprised how your shape changes, and quickly!

if all your doing is lifting then no because with muscle comes fat also ... if you want to see belly go down do a lot of running and jump rope and youll see results

yes, it s true. muscle weighs more than fat, so essentially, you re already starting to get thin. don t rely what s on the scale, rely on how your clothes fit you.

I am baffled when people say - muscle weighs more than fat.....a kilo is a kilo? A kilo of muscle is heavier than a kilo of fat? HmmmAnyway, You need to do more cardio for weight loss. Maybe you are doing too many weights or the weights you are lifting are too heavy?try doing low/no carb for 2 weeksThen add some carbs inminimum of 30 mins cardio..mix it up a littleafter cardio do toning exercises or light weights.At the end of the day the cardio is what you need for weight loss....BUT........don t meaure your progress in weight...do up a chart with bust / waist / hips / thigh columns measure yourself with a tape measure on the same day at the same time each week.......this is where you will see your progress!

Why is the first reaction of the doctor to put the patient on medication, rather than put them on a weight loss program? Type II diabetes can be reversed with weight loss and proper diet.

I am one of the over weight Type 2 s. I found out in March I was diabetic. Now I was put on meds, and I am still on 2 meds (off insulin), and I was not given a weight loss program BEFORE I was allowed to leave the hospital, but I did have to see a dietitian. The dietitian was very informative and gave me lots of info about diet and carbs. But weight loss was not stressed, EATING proper and eating the right foods to control the blood sugar is what was stressed. And if you are over-weight just changing your eating habits will help you lose weight. So some places do make sure the patient is very aware of diet/food requirements even if they are not over weight. I think every diabetic knows how to count carbs, and good vs. bad foods, and how to eat properly to control their blood sugars.Now if I understand everything I have been learning recently, you can NOT reverse diabetes, only control it.As far as docs putting people on meds as soon as a first reaction. Most of the time there isn t a different choice. Most people don t know that they are diabetic before being tested, and their blood sugars are dangerously high. My blood sugar when I found out I was diabetic was 1400 and my A1C was 13. To save my life they had to put me on meds and insulin immediately. Since I took the being diabetic serious and have been doing everything I am suppose to be doing, I have come off the insulin and am only still taking one medication now. So docs don t leave you on meds if you can control it by eating right.Most people probably associate diabetes with being over-weight due to MOST of our (over-weight people) very poor eating habits and lack of exercise. Now understand that this is NOT the case for ALL over-weight people, just most of us. Some people are really and truly over-weight without it being their fault and there is nothing a person like that can do about it. It s people like myself, that can do something about our weight and elected NOT to, that are at fault for our health problems, whatever they may be, but you can NOT put everyone into that category.

Excuse me!! type 2 diabetes is only associated with overweight the same as Europeans are associated with blue eyes!Medications prevent a lot of the nastier effects of this disease!In my case I was never overweight except in the last months of pregnancy ever!! I weighed 120 and was losing weight very rapidly, couldn t afford to lose any in the first place, when I was diagnosed!! More weight loss wouldn t have helped. I have always eaten correctly.You do YOUR research and learn from your ***-umptionsType 2 diabetes CANNOT always be reversed with weight loss and proper diet.

Diabetes is more common with weight problems, but doesn t mean there is always weight problems. You need to do some research on it.

Raising calories to lose weight? -

Last March I started a weight loss program (LA Weight Loss) and it worked great for about 1.5 months during which I lost 20 pounds (my goal is 53). Then the weight loss slowed, and stopped. Then after Christmas, it began to climb again. I��ve been pretty good about following the diet and have now added Pilates and cardio. And I am still going no where.I did some research and found out I was eating between 1000-1200 calories a day, which come to discover, is just to low. Taking my doctors advice, I am increasing my diet to 1400 calories for 3 days, then up to 1600 for a day, and then repeat. I am figuring doing this will make me weigh more for a little while as my body comes out of starvation mode and as I gain muscle mass from my exercise regime. How long can I expect that to last and when will I start to show weight loss again?

Depending on how much weight you need to gain, I would say it will take about a week for your body to get used to the extra food, and then results should show as normal. You just need to get your metabolism working again.However, this is just my guess - I d ask your doctor.

you have made a very common mistake by restricting the calories too much for far too long. increasing the calories will help to reset your metabolism.

wow dats pretti confusing lol all i gotta say is i had done sum reasearch and i learnt that ppl gain weight either by an overodse of calories or becuz stress or becuz thier metabolizm rate aint so high. when ppl metablosim rate aint so hi and they eat an hour or half an hour b4 bed or eat and go to bed rite away then they dont get anytime to burn all that food and digest it which has them gain weight. the best way im losing weight is that way i eat 3 hours b4 i go to bed this way i dont gain weight and i eat elss at nite BUT i eat alot in de mornign.

I m not a dietitian, but I have been there! I truly believe that little lifestyle changes will get you where you need to be. I ve lost 100 LBS and have never been happier and felt better.My advice is to get some advice from a Doctor.

I am by no means asking for a miricale weight loss program. These pills have been sitting in my cabinet for quite some time... my sister bought them, but then later realized she couldnt take them because of some of the medication she was on... but anyways... I have opened that and looked at it every day... and I was just wondering are those safe for your body? Do they work? I would bet its only water weight right? and it says they curb your appetite.... is that why you loose weight?? WELL basically if you have any info on these pills... tell me what you think...

Basically, a diet pill controls your hunger and nothing else. I doesn t make you lose weight, it just gives you a little loss of appetite. Ultimately, it is you who makes the decision to keep eating or not, to exercise or not, and to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Im thin, but how do i harden my abs? -

first off im 14, so i went on a diet for a while, u know worked out, dieted, did cardio, etc. i was 155 before i started my weight loss program, and now im 124 i started like 3 months ago, but now that im thin my mom does not want me to cut out calories any more because she wants me to stay this ways, my stomach is thin, but i can still feel that soft, beady, gooey fat that s in between my sight and my lower abs, i also have a little bit in my upper but i can actually see my upper as compared to my bottom, so in short how do i simply get hard, tight, lean, ripped abs in a short amount of time, like 2 - 7 weeks?, should i still be cutting out calories?, and what about my lower back, can i do anything to tighten that also? thanks a lot, i really appreciate it...

don t cut any more calories, Just start working on toning your muscles with simple exercises like sit ups, push ups squats and lunges. All of those work your core. Remember that muscles burn fat very rapidly, so the more muscle mass you have the more calories you will burn, even while sitting.

well, just do ab exercises, like sit ups, crunches, planks, leg lifts, supermans, etc. If you already did a lot of cardio, then that should have already strengthened your back and core some.

Diet Question! Please PLEASE HELP! 10pts!!? -

Okay, so here s the deal. It s long, but an easy 10pts. I really prefer a professional or someone who knows a lot about healthy (well, relatively healthy) weight loss to help me. I will be a little lax on the weekends (BUT NO BINGING, just maybe going out to eat occassionally), but plan on following this strictly for the weekdays.It is important to note, that I live a majorly sedentary lifestyle, prior to this...with occassional working out or doing chores/cleaning around the house..no real working out. I am a 22 year-old female who is 5 5 (almost 5 6 ) and weigh approximately 150lbs (fluctuates between 148-152, depending on the time of day..lol). I calculated my BMR and it seems that I need approximately 2000 cal/day for my specifics to maintain my weight. However, if I follow the following diet (I m a VEGETARIAN):Early Morning TOTAL: 70 CAL1 glass honey/lime water and 1 glass regular waterBREAKFAST (approx 2hrs later) TOTAL: 335 CALsmoothie (strawberries, blueberries, banana, yoghurt, little sugar and water/ice)1 Nutri-Grain BarLUNCH (approx 3-4hrs later) TOTAL: 300 CAL1 glass Metamucil, 1 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup peaches, 1glass V8AFTERNOON SNACK (approx 3hrs later) TOTAL: 220 CAL-270 CAL1 cup coffee and 3 cookies OR 1 slice bread with light peanut butterDINNER (approx 2-3.5hrs later) TOTAL: 282 CAL1 salad with egg whites and 3tbsp of light italian salad dressingNIGHT (approx 2-3 hrs later or 1hr before bed) TOTAL: 90 CAL1 glass skim milkCALORIC TOTAL FOR THE DAY: APPROX 1300 CAL (give or take)And add about 1 hr of walking/light jogging per day, which is about 300 calories (from what I ve read). Questions: 1) Does this look like a healthy plan if I use it for approx 2 months?2) Will I lose weight, or will my body go into starvation mode?3) How much weight could I expect to lose? 1. I wouldn t say it s necessarily healthy, but it s decent at best. Anytime you re a vegetarian you re going to miss out on nutrients, unless if you take supplements. One, you re missing out on iron and b-vitamins. Together, these nutrients will definitely give you more energy. Two, you re not getting really any vegetables, just mainly fruits. Eating all kinds of food is the best way to go because you get the nutrients and the phytochemicals with them as well.2 and 3. You will absolutely lose weight. Anything less than 1200 cal. a day isn t healthy. You would lose roughly a pound every three to four days from what you ve stated. Your body will go into starvation mode only if you skip meals and cram food in short periods of time.4. Include any kind weight lifting. Muscles burns calories. Of course you will not get muscular if you re a girl; your estrogen balance overwhelms testastarone. For every extra pound of muscle, you will burn about an extra fifty calories a day.Overall, it s a fairly good diet. If you can incorporate supplements for nutrients you lack (most noticeably Iron, B-Vitamins, Omega 3), even though the food itself is much better because of the extra benefits, then I will say it s great.
