I don t normally like planned diets because they are often unhealthy. Never ever do the atkins diet because it is just the worst thing for your body.This diet I happen to like however, it is a good way to start eating healthy and get your balanced food pyramid, minerals and vitamins.It is called the cabbage soup diet. It is very simple and you can eat all you want, provided you eat what you are allowed to. Basically a lot of fruits and veggies. Its a good detox diet, and a way to test your will power. It also helps in getting yourself on the right track with eating healthy once you finish the diet.

I lost 180 pounds doing the Atkins low carb diet...besides losing weight it also lowered my blood pressure. I suggest reading the book first, many people have the misconception that its all about eating lots of meat, and it is really not, its more about eating natural foods instead of the processed foods. People will tell you Atkins is not a healthy diet...these people have not read the book. They think it is all about eating bacon and sausage...it is not....if you do the diet correctly then you are filling up mainly on veggies and salad. But remember all diets don t work for every body type...I have done low fat diets, moderation diets, counting calorie diets, slim fast diets, and even nutrisystem diets and had no success. The only diet that I was able to make work was the Atkins diet because I have a low tolerance to breads and startches. You will have to find what works for you.

Your present weight requires 15 calories per pound to maintain, assuming moderate activity. So if you weigh 200 lbs, your body needs 3000 calories to maintain your weight. If you eat 2000 calories a day, your body will have a 1000 calorie deficit each day. After 3-1/2 days, you will lose a pound.Now, if you exercise, you burn more calories. So if you exercise 90 minutes - 45 minutes twice a day - and burn 1500 calories, your daily deficit is now 2500 calories. One thing you should do is make sure that you set yourself some goals. Make sure that they are reasonable and attainable goals. I don t diet. I just don t snack anymore. I spend 20 minutes on the treadmill in the morning and take a 20 minute walk in the afternoon four days a week. Granted, I ve only lost nine pounds in three months, but that is what I can do since I hate dieting and would fail completely if I tried dieting.I ve signed up for a fitness bootcamp in January to jumpstart my metabolism a little bit.Good luck!
I had some success drinking a gallon of water a day. The water made me feel full. At regular meal times I would greatly reduce the amount of food I was eating (calories down)- be sure you eat healthy foods when you are cutting calories. Also, I got a dog so I walk about 2 miles a day in about 30 minutes. Doing that I was able to go from about 225 on a 5 foot 7 inch frame down to about 180 in 3 months. This was about 4 years ago. I have since gained about 10 pounds so I started the plan again and I have lost 7 in about 2 weeks. Exercise more to increase calorie loss, but be sure you are still eating yogurt, nuts, fruits for snacks between meals to keep your metabolism up and working.

My main advice is to make it as enjoyable for yourself as possible. If you hate the diet, bottom line is that you will not be on it for long.Therefore (like carbon trading), cut the things that are easiest to you first and foremost. When I m on a cutting phase, I make all my liquids become water, eat no sweets, drink wine instead of beer, and still stay with foods that I ENJOY but are still healthy. Don t buy into stereotypes about what you can eat and what you cannot (it s all about moderation). If you absolutely love chocolate and cannot do without, then allow yourself some in strict moderation and only as a reward for a great workout or sticking with your diet.Bottom line is there is no such thing as a diet for everyone. I have great success shedding my pounds and I still enjoy my food and am never starving or going to bed hungry (which is counter productive)Oh and of course do not eat 3 large meals as most of us are socialized to. 5-6 small meals means greater weight lose as your body is consistently spending calories to fuel your entire digestive process, and you are not spiking your insulin levels which will cause your body to store rather than spend the calories.
