Heres the thing - you cannot technically spot reduce and lose weight only in a particular area. Every person is built differently and carries their weight in different places and you do not (unfortunately) have control over from WHERE you lose your weight. There are now machines and gadgets that target the inner thigh, the outer thigh, the lower abs, the upper abs, etc but unless you reduce your over all body fat percent then you will never see the definition in your abs or lose those inches off you thighs and buttocks. To achieve your goal of losing inches on your thighs and buttocks you need to:1) Find your BMR or Basal Metabolism Rate (search for online calculators on google). This is the number of calories you body needs per day just to survive (digesting, breathing etc), in otherwords the number of calories you would burn in a day if you sat all day. You must then factor in the amount of activity you do per day - most calculators will have you multiply by an activity factor . You should get the number of calories per day you can eat without gaining weight - now to lose weight you need to decrease this number by no more than 500 calories so that in 1 week you will have lost about 1 lb of fat (3500 calories) - drastically cutting calories slows your metabolism and sends your body into starvation mode where it hangs onto excess fat (NOT what you want)! And if you are losing more than 1-1.5 lbs a week, you most likely are losing muscle as well as fat which will also decrease your metabolism so don t over do it! [You can measure you body fat levels once a week or once every 2 weeks to keep an eye on this]2) Use the Progressive overload technique. You will increase in strength and muscle (and alot of times lose inches off your body while maintaining the same weight) if you progressively increase the intensity of your workouts. Continuing to do the same old workouts and expecting different results is madness :)3) You must Decrease body fat through dietary manipulation and exercise, you can decrease your body fat and increase your lean muscle mass, which will lead to that toned look everybody wants.4) Use the periodization technique. All muscle groups should be periodized, meaning no muscle groups should be trained everyday or even every other day. 2-3 times per week, for advanced exercisers, is enough.5) Concentrate on aerobic training for 3-4 times a week for about 30-45minutes. This burns the most calories from fat! Also incorporate some light strength moves but aerobic exercise is key! NO AMOUNT OF SQUATS will help you lose weight on your thighs and buttocks without the proper diet and aerobic activity!
