Weight Loss Tips for teens? -

I am 16 and very active. I play lacrosse for 4 hours a week, swim competitvly for 14 hours a week, and do various types of dance for 12 hours a week. I m a lacto-vegetarian (I eat no meat or eggs). I was just diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, and my doctor told me that I should loose wight and it would help. I m 5 6 and my waist is 34 inches around at the widest part and I weigh 185 pounds. Any tips to help me loose weight? ThanksPLease do be polite. This is a serious question, I really want to improve my slef.

Tips:#1.) You might confuse hunger for thirst so before you go and grab somthing to eat drink some water and give it a few minutes to settle. If you re still hungry go eat an apple or maybe a few grapes and wait untill your next meal.2.) You might think your hungry when your not. Or you just want to eat because theres food in the fridge. When you know your hungry is when you start to get stomach cramps.3.) Dont starve yourself on a bad diet! Go on a healthy diet. They work alot better then not eating at all. 4.)You should research about food and the calories and fat. It will help you think again when your about to eat a huge bowl of icecream.5.) You should eat one serving of every food group (but try to not have so much of the sugars). A serving is about a palm full of what ever your eating. Or 3/4th a cup.6.) Make sure you get enough excersice! Thats very important! You should go out for quick jog s in the morning before school. Scientests have prooved that you loose 3/4th s more body fat by running in the morning rather than evening or night. That dosnt mean jogging in the evening is bad ( it still burns fat) its just easier to burn fat in the morning.7.) Remember to feel good about yourself! That is very important the more mentally challanged to do this the better!(p.s.) Loosing fat takes time so dont get mad when you dont burn 10 pounds the first day! I hope this helps!

Do pilates. . they work like you would not believe,maybe join the spin class at your local gym as well?Im assuming most of your mass is related to muscle. . so i wouldnt honestly excpect to lose that much weight if i were you. . but pilates and yoga are great.

eat several small meals throughout the day.choose high protein foods rather than carbs which digest quickly so you don t feel as hungry through out the day.

Well, sice you re already obviously really active, and you are a lacto-vegetarian (fight the power!), I would just cut out the majority of the junk food from yuor diet, and drink plenty of water. Lifting weights is also actually a good way to lose, because it builds muscle that burns dreaded f*t. Good luck!

1. When you feel hungry, have a glass of water first. We re so out of touch with our bodies hunger/thirst signals that sometimes when we think we re hungry we re actually just dehydrated. 2. If you re still hungry, have a half of a grilled chicken breast with a salad or steamed vegetables. The protein from the chicken is slow burning, so it will keep your hunger satisfied for a longer period of time than carbohydrates do. The vegetables are full of nutrients, which will also leave your body satisfied, simply because we don t tend to be hungry as much if we are getting all of the nutrients we need. 3. Watch what you snack on. If you normally snack on chips or sweets, substitute the chips for red grapes (great for your heart) or blueberries (rich in amino acids). Or apples, which are rich in fiber. Sometimes when I m craving salty foods I will eat tortilla chips or sun chips instead of potato chips. The sun chips, again, are rich in fiber and the tortilla chips are low fat. 4. Walk for an hour every day. This doesn t have to be all at once, but if you can avoid driving, do it. Ask one of your friends to be your walking buddy. My ex-boyfriend lost 8 pounds in two weeks when he came out to the midwest to visit me because I don t have a car and he was walking every place instead of driving. 5. If walking isn t your thing, try doing yoga, aerobics or pilates. I was in the best shape of my life when I was training to be a yoga teacher (I weighed 110 pounds at 5 3 . I now weigh something like 120 at 5 3 because I went away to college and gained the transfer 10.) 6. Allow yourself one day every week where you don t watch what you eat. It ll make your lifestyle changes easier to adjust to. 7. Eat until you re 80% full. Don t eat until you re gut-busted, but stop eating when you feel satisfied. Not hungry, not gut-busted, but satisfied. Edit: To the poster below me, good call. The associate minister at my church lost 20 pounds when she first started doing bikram (hot yoga) ten years ago. As a certified yoga instructor, I would recommend that you increase your water intake if you re going to do Bikram yoga though. Instead of 8 ounces of water, drink an entire gallon (over the course of the day, not all at once.)

Eat five small, basic meals a day. Try to incorporate all the major food groups, and try to avoid sugar as much as you can. You can still have sweets, but not every day, just on Monday as a pick-me-up or on Friday as a celebratory treat. Exercise, but make sure it s something you enjoy, or, if you re like me and don t really enjoy sports of any kind, just take a brisk walk as often as possible. Also, don t get discouraged when you don t lose as much weight as you want to as quickly as you want to---these things take time and patience. :) Good luck.

Try walking on a daily basis for about 30 minutes to begin with. Increase the amount of time as you feel more comfortable doing so. After about 2 weeks you should introduce 30 seconds of jogging followed by 2 minutes of walking for the entire time that you are excercising. After school, my friend and I go to the gym everyday!I also get up 30 mins earlier to take a walk in the morning before school. And also, I bring my own homelunch to school instead of eating their food. I usually eat a salad for lunch. Plus, it s good to have eggs for breakfast because eggs have lots of protiene, and protiene keeps you full longer. So you don t feel as hungry. Then when I get home from school/ the gym, I have a small snack like an apple, and then I just go about the rest of my day, and then have a small dinner because your metabolism is slower at night so you gain more calories at night, so its good to eat light at night lol!

well i was sick and i only ate 1 meal a day and sometimes i would just snack on something but drink lost of liquids and i lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks. but i run a lot and i work out and that helps. also cut your meals like in half and when you feel the urge to snack on junk food, chew gum or drink some water

The best and fastest way that I lose weight is to just eat fruits and veggies. But then after about 3 weeks my brain starts feeling like it s dead, so I can t really do that for long periods of time Lol That s what works for me though...and then I put it back on (I need to figure out the solution to that part...)

um... yeah the not weighing yourself thing really does work. Studies have proven that you lose more weight when you dont weigh yourself often, they have no idea why. im have been tryin to lose weight for a while and i haven t been able to, its easy to gain weight but not lose it lol. than i gave up and now im doing it a way NO ONE should but yeah lol im on a crash diet right now, dont ever do it lol i don t even know why i do it. Eat healthy and workout. Your should work out for at least 45 minutes every other day. You loose weight after you work out, not while you work out so, every other day. Dont eat anything sweet at all. Nothing, nada, nothing at all. Try that for 1 month and eat 4-6 small meals a day, according to how hungry you get in one day. It s okay if you eat 6, you wont gain weight. Actually, the best way to lose weight is to eat because if you dont eat, your metabolism wont work and you wont burn anything. But be sure to eat HEALTHY. before you decide on loosing weight, be committed. Organize a plan and stick to it :]Exersize: Jog for 45 min around your neighborhood or on a treadmill. try resistance training were you do cardio in intervals for example if you are going to run on a treadmill then run on the hardest intensity the best you can for a minute and then stop and keep doing thator do a 5-7 minute warm up at a low intensity and then do one minute high intensity and 2 minutes medium intensity. after that break and do the 1 minute high intensity and 2 minutes medium 2 more times and then a 5 minute low intensity cool down. over doing cardio can promote muscle loss and performing this resistance training will speed up your metabolism and help you shed the pounds :)

I would strongly recommend this new form of exercise which is new in the USA. This is how to do it and it guarantees weight loss...:......oops i forgot. LOL

Lets see... fifty doing brisk walking... I would start off with about 2-3 hours a day if possible for a month and see how you feel after that. I dont know what kind of shape you re in, fifty is a lot so i assume you re really out of shape. I wouldnt suggest trying to lose all 50 walking, at some point you re probably better off doing some really low paced jogging. Like baby step jogging for a good distance just enough to really get you soaked. Make sure you talk multi vitamins, drink a lot of water and watch what you eat after you workout because you can get sick eating too much or too much of the wrong food.
