Am i fat and what are good weight loss tips? -

I am 13 years old and i am 5 feet 2 inches and weight anywhere form 107 to 110 pounds (it changes everyday) I have belly fay which you can really only tell if i am sitting. I have big thighs which i hate! And i want more muscular calves. Please tell me if you think i m fat and also give tips on how to slim down before school starts next mont!!! Thank you so much!

Your weight is perfectly fine, but if you want to shed a few pounds, then you can do that by diet and cardio. If you want to lose weight, the best way is by diet and cardio. Dieting is eating less and eating healthier. Cardio is a type of exercise that raises your heart rate. Diet, which lowers your calorie intake and cardio which burns extra calories. If you want to go on a diet, you must reduce the amount you eat and change what you do eat to something healthy and nutritious. Begin by not eating more then 1500 calories a day. This will ensure you dont take over the amount of calories which will increase body fat.For cardio, the best is using elliptical machines. I recommend this rather then a treadmill because after doing some testing, elliptical trainers burn twice the amount of calories you burn on a treadmill. I would use it for 30 minutes daily. If you cant afford either one, then just jog or walk outside every night. Good Luck!

it doesn t sound like you are fat to me.....One thing that works for me is: before I eat, I drink a large glass of water, then if I m still hungry, I won t eat as much as I would have.also, fyi:1 pound = 3500 calories. If you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight.ie, if you eat 2000 calories per day and burn 2500, you will lose 1 pound every week.the average person burns 1500-2000 calories per day, just being alive.powerwalking can burn 200-500 calories per hour.exercise bike can burn 200-600 calories per hour.swimming can burn 100-800 calories per hour.jogging/running can burn 300-1200 calories per hour.*********VERY IMPORTANT************when trying to lose weight, very important to drink lots and lots of water ! ! ! You should drink at least 10 glasses per day, like 1 glass every hour !This helps your body get rid of the fat when you are burning calories.

You sound fine to me.But if you re unhappy with your thighs brisk walking is a great exercise which will tone the legs and burn stomach fat.

Well first a good idea is to run for like a half hour a day, as fast and far as you can without stopping a lot. And if you do that everyday it will help you a lot, my pants were getting loser in like a week or so. So that may help, and to help more you could run with ankle weights on so it will help build more muscle to burn calories. Also when i run i do exercise before hand, i do about 50 push ups and 100 crunches and stretch. You could start out smaller, and stretching before and after will help prevent you from being sore so you can continue the next day. To help you can also increase your number of stuff weekly so you are helping more to build. And you could also do the crunches like 3 times a day making three hundred crunched a day which will help a lot with your stomach area if needed. I also used to run before school which could also help. Another thing is dont drink a lot of drinks like soda and stuff. Water is the best to stick with, considering you will not gain calories, this will also give you room to eat a little more if you are calorie counting. If you are counting calories, you can take 500 calories away from your eating like you said. Also to help eat less, use smaller plates, and eat a small snack about a half hour before you eat. That will help make you less hungry, as long as it is something with not a lot of sugar, like an orange. You could also eat special K which is supposed to help you be healthy.I also made a chart for when i ran and stuff. I put the time i ran, the distance, and the date. I also put how many crunches and push ups i did.I think that if you dont over exert yourself and eat healthy and not starve yourself, you will be getting thinner before you know it! =] And you may not lose all those pounds by then but you will be happy with your results, and you may look 40-45 pounds less and that weight could be partly muscle. well good luck!! =]

if youre a girl thats one thing but if your a boy 140 pounds is like perfect!

The safest way to lose weight is to watch what you eat and exercise 3 or 4 times a week...It is safe to lose 2-3 lbs per week..They say that if you lose it too quickly you are more likely to gain it all back and then some. Take your time and have a friend pair up with you. It is easier to have a walking buddy than to go at it alone. This way you can support each other when times get tough and it will be a great way to become better friends too!

Im trying to eat healthy since needing to have emergency gall bladder removal, but dont know where to start? -

Hi, I m trying to eat healthy and would like to stick to a plan that gives me full menu / recipes for everyday of the week. There are so many programs out there that CLAIM to be the healthiest and best for you that I just don t know which to go with. Currently I ve been looking into Dr. Mercola s Total Health Program and I ve been following his program for a couple of weeks, but I don t know if his program is the best for me in the long run. Can anyone suggest a better program I could follow? I m not overweight at all, so I m not looking for a weight loss program, I just want to find a program that will KEEP ME HEALTHY and that focuses on digestive health (which is the main problem I ve been dealing with since having my surgery). I would love to recieve tips and recipes from anyone who has had their gall bladder removed too. What foods do you eat and how is your digestion? By the way, I ve seen gastroenterologists and they haven t been able to help w/ suggestions on what to eat.

Follow the orders your Doctor gave you when you went back for your follow up. I m sure you asked him this question. I hope you are not crazy enough to ask the general public when have an educated response from a licensed physician at your disposal.?!

well i know this diet that is very low in carbs but i dont recommend it for more then 10-15 days i didnt once you can lose 15-17 pounds in 15 days .. heres how it go s:1-you count only 15gramsof carbs for the whole day whitch is very low because a normal person should eat about 300 g carbs a day.you get 5-6 very small portion meals.eat only green veggies nothing else colored veggies like carrots and corn contain sugars.no dairy ,no milk, or yougret (i know it s weired but it works)no candy, no pretzels (in general no carbs)you can eat egg white. chihken breast fish ans tuna (witch have no carbs and barly any fat so fill up on that)you can also eat peanuts ( but becarful a serving of peanuts has 8 carbs so if you eat that there wont be much carbs left for the daydrink only water no diet coke or caffine (that maens no coffee either )so that is it it s basicly a high protien diet with very low carbs oh ya and you cant have fruits either ( i know it s crazy)but be carfull and stay hydrated . when i did this diet for a week li lost about 10 pound i was dehydrated so be carefull another friend of mine done it and lost 17ibs in 15 days with an hour of tredmill a day i dont really recommend this diet exept if you reallty need to lose weight fast for an occationprepare your self to starve .. i hope you lose the weightgood luck, and take a vitamin supplement like vitamin C for a more healthy approuch check out this website free tools, diet pland and exercieshttp://www.sparkpeople.com/

Here s why they re telling you to eat healthy: Fat in your diet stimulates your gall bladder to contract and squeeze out bile into your digestive tract. Because you re having a problem with your gall bladder, this action is causing you pain. Therefore, currently when you eat fatty foods, you get pain, which stops you wanting to eat fatty foods. When the surgery s complete, you ll no longer have this pain, which means that it s easier for you to eat fatty foods - which makes you put on weight :-)Eating healthy is about making healthy choices for LIFE. This requires a major change in how you think about food. The only one I can really recommend is Weight Watcher s, because it really lets you think about what you re putting into your system and whether it s healthy. It would also be a good idea to speak to a dietitian. They ll tell you lots of stuff that you already have heard of, but it s the only stuff that matters in the long run.

I know what you are going through as I have had mu gall bladder removed. It will get better over time and you wont be as sensitive to food, it took me over two years to get some normality back. I mainly stayed away from fatty food eg butter, chocolate, any take away food except if healthy, mayonnaise and other things like this.I have heard that the CSIRO book is a sensible eating plan for everyday living and the book is only $20 from Target.I don t know if you have a problem with this but I can not take any codeine now or i get severe pain in the stomach, just thought I would give you the heads up on that.I hope all goes well and you get back on track soon.

One thing I can recommend is for you to cut out sugar. Our bodies need natural sugar like fructose, sucrose, glucose, dextrose, lactose, etc. etc.You can get natural sugars from fruit and drinks like Gatorade. What we don t need is the refined, processed table sugar that s included in a lot of foods and snacks.Just cut out potato chips, ice cream, snack cakes, and soda pop.Drink plenty of Gatorade and milk. Some people don t like the taste of regular white milk, so I ve been told by a doctor that adding Nesquick to milk is ok, but other than that you really should avoid refined sugar.

Is this a good (healthy) weight-loss eating plan? -

I m 19 and I m looking to lose about 30 lbs all together. I know about the fad diets and such and that is NOT what I want...that s why I m asking for some advice. I am going to be exercising, starting out cardio 3 or 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes, and when I ve lost the weight, I ll begin weight training to get better toned. Although I m focusing on calorie intake, I ve all together cut out sodas, sweets, and obvious things like that. Anyways, here s the eating plan I ve been following, and it will change from day to day, but same amounts, close to the same amount of cals and such. Breakfast: 1/2 cup Instant Oatmeal - uncooked - 150 cals 2 Tbsp Smucker s Organic Strawberry Preservers (for flavor) - 100 calsOR 1 container Dannon lite and fit vanilla yogurt - 60 cals 1 banana - 110 cals *1 or 2 bottles water (20 fl. oz) - between breakfast and lunch Lunch 1 medium sweet potato - up to 150 cals (?) 1 Jennie-O turkey hot dog - 70 cals *1 or 2 bottles water (20 oz) between lunch and dinner Dinner 1 chicken breast (4-5oz) - up to 140 cals 3/4 cup (maybe more) green beans - 30 cals 1 bottle water (20 oz) NOW, I realize this is only around 650 calories at the most for the day, BUT, not every day will be like this. I m at college, and I go to the cafeteria sometimes. So, at least one meal a day will have, probably much, more than 200 calories. Also, I ve heard about the 5-6 meals a day thing to keep your metabolism going. First off, is this right? It makes sense. I ve been going with it, and having, usually fruit, or like those 100 calorie pack foods for a snack. So probably two snacks a day at 100-200 calories. I think that said, it will amount to at least 1200 calories a day. I would appreaciate ANY advice on this. I ve talked to a couple people who are pretty knowledgeable, but put this together on my own. I know with a good diet and exercise, the weight will come off. Maybe slowly, but surely Thanks!*Crystal Light? I know the artificial sweeteners...10 cals per packet, but is it alright for a diet? I get tired of water so easily..I can make myself drink it, but with crystal light is MUCH better! At the most, I d use it on two bottles of water a day. Thanks again!

650 calories is going to put your body into starvation mode and save more FAT out of the food. That is NOT what you want!I m guessing you re female, so you should eat AT LEAST 1300 calories. Calculate your BMR, it tells you how many calories you burn by laying in bed. I suggest not eating more than that amount of calories. And other than the lack of calories(ENERGY, you need it!) I only saw a few things wrong. The strawberry preserves. I mean, it is fruit and all, but it has a loooot of added sugar. If you need flavor for your oats, use spices! A little bit of sugar is okay, then add some cinnamon. I also got this very yummy imitation maple flavor (found by the vanilla in the spice isle) it will save you a lot of calories. Where is your milk? Milk, grain, fruit and veg is VERY important in a diet. Add more!Heres what I suggest:An apple, orange, or banana with breakfast. That will add 80-100 calories. It will also speed up your metabolism.Add 2-3 glasses of skim milk. Thats around 220 calories. Eat a whole wheat bun with your turkey dog! Load it up on the mustard, relish, onion and any other veg you like on your meats. It will help you feel fuller and you need the grain. Thats about 120 calories. Fill the rest of the 200-400 more calories with more fruits and vegetables and healthy whole grains throughout the day. Vegetables are great when losing weight, do not cut them out of your diet!Oh and by the way the second breakfast would be great for you if you added some oats along with it. Or, even add some whole grain cereal with skim milk. That will get more milk into your diet. Good luck!EDIT: 1300 is the minimum for women, 1200 for men, 1400 if you re still growing.

you SHOULD be having 1500 cals a day in six small meals or your metabolism slows and you hold on to fat rather than lose it

Is it safe for teenagers to use weight loss products? -

This isn t an ethical question, but quite literally asking if it is safe for a teenager to use weight loss solutions like weight loss milkshakes and other things of that nature. Thanks in advance!

This question is a very open-ended question in which there is not a single answer to. Weight loss products can be as mild as meal replacement bars or shakes to appetitie suppresant pills. The answer to your question is going to depend on which products that you are speaking of. As a very general answer, you need to look at the nutrients that a teen needs to get everyday. If the product is restricting this, or preventing the intake of this, then no - they are not safe. As far as weight loss milkshakes , look as the nutritional content in each of the shakes. If this shake is providing the proteins, carbs, and good fats that are needed in good proportions and amounts, then there should not be a problem. The problem arises when you get into some of the replacement drinks that are nothing more than an apetite suppresant with no nutritional value.Good luck!

It s not safe for ANYONE to use OTC weight loss supplements- they re not regulated by the FDA and can be extremely dangerous (not to mention there s no evidence that any of them are effective, since they aren t tested in the same way that prescription and over-the-counter drugs are, since they re classified as supplements .)It s not unsafe for a teenager to diet, but it should be carefully planned, aiming for slow, sustainable weight loss, and being sure that all the teen s nutritional requirements aside from calories are being met. Calorie restriction shouldn t be too extreme (you re still growing, you NEED calories). Permanent body development is occurring in the teen years, you don t want to mess up growth by dieting in an unsafe way.Weight loss shakes like slimfast and the like aren t a particularly great idea for anyone, although they re certainly better than eating nothing or eating nutritionally empty foods. The primary problem with them is that although they can cause rapid weight loss in small amounts, pretty much nobody can sustain the two shakes a day plus dinner diet plan forever, and as soon as you stop you go back to your old habits and put back on the weight, plus generally a little more. Repeated many times over years, this leads to a messed-up metabolism and a large accumulation of weight.A better idea- for teens and adults- is to slowly change to healthy, sustainable eating patterns that involve solid, normal food, not weight-loss shakes or similar meal substitution products. This (plus exercise) is the only way to achieve real, long-term weight loss.

no its notthey contain side effects and are deadlythe real product for weight lossis to change your lifestyle educate yourself and your mind to connect with your bodyexercise and eating right is keygoodluckshakes are great but it dependssome contain sugar and are not worthiti recommend protein soybased mineral shakes healthy and filled with many vitamens

I dont think you should be using pills or anything, but there isnt harm in like the slimfast shakes or bars, as long as you are getting all the nutrients you need.

No, cuz we are young and all we have to do is work hard to lose it. I wouldnt advice to use it just excerise
