Weight loss question, in need of some insight? -

***PLEASE READ ENTIRE ENTRY BEFORE ANSWERING***I am a 29 year old female who weighs 286 pounds. I began a weight loss program exactly a week ago. My caloric intake for each day has been under 1000 calories, and each day I have gone to the gym and engaged in a cardiovascular workout for at least 30 minutes, buring an approx. 450 calories per session. Before this diet, my eating was truly out of control, and I had NOT exercised for about a year.My question is, why have I only lost one pound this week? Any ideas, insights would be much appreciated.

It could be because you just started this program and your body isn t used to the exercise. I m pretty sure than once you gain more muscle tone you ll start burning it off faster (more muscle = more calories burned), besides, you can t lose it all just like that. Takes time and dedication. Just stay positive and be patient.

Well, your body is adapting to new things. If you haven t exercised in a year, your body may need time to adjust. Second, a pound is great! There is nothing wrong with slowly losing weight. Third, under 1,000 calories? Because you used to eat lotsmore, your body is in survival mode and is holding on to all of the calories it can get. Stick with 1500-2000 calories a day. That s a healthy range. Remember to eat lots of fruits and veggies! Good luck with your new lifestyle and continue in the direction you re going in! -Micayla

It sounds like you are not eating enough. I know that sounds counter intuitive, but if you don t give your body enough nutritious food, it will shut down and hoard fat.I adopted a whole foods, plant-based diet and easily lost 25 pounds. I eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and some soy products. I have tons of energy and my skin looks a lot better too.The site below helped me with meal plans, recipes, and motivation. I also started a walking plan as they suggested. Hope it helps you.

It is not advisable to go below 1200 calories for female. You indicated that you went to the gym and perform 30 minutes burning 450 calories. If the reading is taken from the equipment you are using never trust it. Calories burn depend on a lot of factors and the reading is never accurate. I do advise you to proceed to this website www.lowerbodymakeover.com . I am sure it will help you a lot.

Because you are taking in less calories than your body needs to survive. You cannot drop that low in calories and work out with a good outcome. You are depriving your body of fuel (energy). Your metabolism goes into stall mode or starvation mode. You need to be doing minimum 1200 calories, about 90-100 grams of protein and 30-40 grams of fiber in your diet. Just like you need to put gas in the car you need to give your body fuel to burn or you will just store fat and burn muscle.

Losing weight is always a very hard battle to accomplish but if you have the right learning tools available you can succeed. I lost 56 lbs in five months. I tried everything possible and the only thing that has given me the will power to keep going and the energy was phentramin D. I had so much energy that I wanted to exercise. I have been off of it for a yr and a half and have kept it off.It could be that your gaining muscle too so dont get discouraged. Its hard to stay focusedSource(s):http://www.SlimEffects.com

Your body thinks you are starving it.Your metabolism will shut down and you won t burn fat because your body will need it . You have to eat to lose! The right food and the right exercise and not so few calories!!! I truly believe in weight watchers. It has a great support group and it works!

you are starving your body and therefore it is trying to hold onto the fat you already have because you aren t feeding it.you need to start eating smaller meals throughout the day that are large, but low in calories, lots of fiber and water will help you!

You should probably see a nutritionist or a trainer because that combination of eating and exercising probably isn t healthy for your body. Keep in mind that you re building muscle when you work out, and muscle weighs more than fat.good luck!

Do you have PCOS? Women with PCOS have an extremely difficult time losing weight. A lot of women don t know they have it-- you might want to look it up and see if you have the symptoms.

I agree with most of the people on here saying that you aren t eating enough. What you need to do is eat 1500 to 2000 calories and spread that out over 6-8 small meals a day. By eating more frequently, your body has to constantly digest food and your metabolism will increase. The other factor is that it s not really how many calories but what type of calorie. If you eat 1000 calories and it is all carbs and fat than you are just hurting yourself. You need about 45-65 percent carbs, 10-35 percent protein, and 20-35 percent fat. Protein should be based of your ideal weight and for women (unless you re into bodybuilding) you should take in 1gram of protein for every 2 pounds of your ideal weight. So if your ideal weight is 150 pounds, then you should eat 75 grams protein. Your fat should be from healthy fats like almonds or mixed nuts or fish oil.Take a multivitamin and eat fruits and veggies to keep balanced diet. Lastly, you should try to do cardio first thing in the morning while there is a low amount of carbs in your system so that your body burns fat in place of the carbs.

Don t be too concerned by the amount of weight you lose each week. I suggest that you focus on turning your current program into a habit and strive to exercise and follow a healthy diet plan regardless of weight loss. I find that most people whose end goal is to lose weight ends up burning out and gaining back what they have lost. Try exercising and diet for the sake of a healthier lifestyle, and the weight loss will definitely come.As for your program, here are a few suggestions:1. Do not, and I mean do not, work out 7 days a week. Olympic athletes don t even do this, why should you? your body needs time to rest for your next work out session. Try working out Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, and light cardio on Sat. 2. Your caloric intake is really low, this is counter-intuitive. Your body will shift into survival mode (think hibernating bears) and store any calories you take in as fat for reserve. Once this happens, more calories that you eat afterward are allocated to subcutaneous fat.3. You ve only been in the program for 1 week. Don t expect too much, focus on making this habit! Your weight fluctuates during the day, everyday, due to water contentKeep up the cardiovascular exercise, its good that you took the initiative to do this. Once again, exercise and a healthy diet should not be a means to an end, but an end in itself. This will sustain your motivation longer!

I just started on Papayamine. It is NOT a diet but a whole food! It helps by giving your body all the nutrition it need and is also a fiber so it digests slower. This keeps you full longer nad removes cravings. I take one shake in the morning mixed with orange juice. Then two capsule a couple hours later. Then another shake for lunch. Then two capsules 20 min. before dinner. I have lost a bunch of weight with this.http://www.papayamine.comYou are putting your body into a state of ketosis and causing your body to retain fat. This will also make you gain your weight back very quickly. I suggest you take the Papayamine. You won t be starving your body but you will be consuming low fat and low calories yet still retain a nutritional balance.

Are there any weight loss products that actually work? PLEASE ANSWER MEEE!!!? -

Okay I m pretty much a believer in the old Hard work s the only way to get anywhere slogan, but I m just wondering if there are any products out there that you have tried that ACTUALLY worked. Did any of them have horrible effects?Which ones? Also, have you heard of the benefits of using a sauna? Is that stuff true?

Keep up the hard work. I have lost 7 lbs in the last week with the help of ALLI...The more fat you eat, the more you will need to poo. If you keep the fatty foods to a min, you ll be fine. It s FDA approved which is why I tried it...So far loving it! I have more energy too which is a huge plus! : ) Good luck!PS - No idea on the sauna thing...

If you are willing to spend a little, yes! Hoodia is an all natural appetitite suppressant and if you get the right stuff it works very well. There are many hoodia products but I found only one that is pure called unique hoodia and you can order it online. There is a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the results. Here is a link for more information Good Luck!

Yes, a sauna is good for you, to an extent.and Im currently using Hydroxycut, so far it works.and no effects

Are weight loss products containing ephedra bad for someone with hep c? -

I am a bodybuilder with Hep C, so obviously I dont drink alcohol or use roids, but I like to take ephedra for energy and was wondering if anyone knows if this is bad for my liver?

DONT TAKE EPHEDRA. It is bad for your liver and ESPECIALLY bad for your heart. There are many natural supplements that you can take to have the same effect, like b vitamins for energy and others for weight loss. Head into your local GNC or Vitamin shop and they will help you out!

You need to take Livercare right away. It will regenerate liver cells and will get rid of your Hep. I had Hep B and it took care of it. GONE! No Ephedra is not bad for your liver as it is not Methylated. Stay away from the fake ephedra called Ephedra Extract. Those are loaded with caffeine and MethylEthylAmine or PhenylEthylAmines. Highly methylated and will stress your liver even more.Ephedra Diets with Ephedrine Alkaloids are scientifically proven to burn fat, suppress appetite and energize. Beware of fake ephedra extracts sold elsewhere without the active ingredient ephedrine alkaloids from years ago. What overweight women and men have learned is that for years virtually every professional bodybuilder, informed fitness expert and successful personal trainer would tell you the same thing. Whether you want to accelerate the burning of excess body fat, boost your metabolic rate, heighten your thermogenic output or increase your energy level, there is nothing stronger or more effective than the thermogenic cocktail of Ephedra, Caffeine, and Aspirin (The E/C/A- Stack ). Patented formula and scientifically proven to work without diet or exercise. Beware of fakes called Ephedra Extract sold elsewhere. Only real Ephedra, Ma Huang and Sida Cordifolia has the active ingredient Ephedrine Alkaloids. Those are the ones which have been scientifically proven to work.Get the Mini Lean, Heat, RedCutz ECA Stack or Black Ace

What is a good target weight loss? -

I currently weigh 244. I ve lost 10 pounds since I started working out again. Is it realistic to have goal of weighing 190 by the 4th of July? Would that be a healthy weight loss?

While you may lose weight quickly in the first couple of weeks on a diet exercise program, it is healthiest for your body to go at a slow pace of 1-2 pounds/week. In light of that, to lose 54 pounds should take you about 27 weeks July 4th is in about 16 weeks. You ll be close, but be happy with the progress you made continue through the summer.

Eat only when hungry and that too not more than three times a day. Include uncooked fruits and vegetables in ur food. Take nothing but water in between the meals.Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This improves digestion besides activating ur brain telling u that u have had enough.Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.U will achieve ur ideal weight in a reasonable time period effortlessly.

Sounds like you are doing a great job as it is. The next thing you should try is drink LOTS of water. Water is the natural remedy of weight loss. My friend ate Salads, dranked Water, and Worked out a lot. He lot a total of 20 lbs. since January. This is really true...just google it and find out for yourself. :-)

You could do it! Depends on your dedication. Good luck!!

Sure, but you might want to see a doctor first. Ever watch the show the biggest loser, if they can so can you. It just takes lots of hard work and willpower.

I say instead of setting goals, keep a record of your weight loss. No 2 people are exactly the same. Also keep in mind that if you lift weights you ll put on muscle mass, which weighs less than fat, so your overall fat weight will be down more than expected. So yeah, try keeping a record, then maybe beating that record. The record will keep you honest with yourself, and maybe show where you re slipping. Plus then come the 4th of July you ll be able to tell people exactly how much you ve lost.

Heathly Weight loss meal plan...? -

I am 21, 5 4 and about 190lbs. I am looking to lose about 50 lbs in a little over 5 months. I think that this is a healthy weight loss time period. I am very committed and I am starting to work out. My workouts are lasting about 30 to 40 minutes and consist of:Monday-cardioTuesday-upper body workoutWednesday-CardioThursday-lower body workoutFriday-cardioSaturday-combo upper and lower bodyI have done weight watchers before and I know that it works, but I am looking to try another method without counting points. I am thinking of something along the lines of 5 or 6 small meals about 2.5-4 hours apart (depending on when I can actually eat, but not over 4 hours). I have a general idea of what would be a good meal plan, but any suggestions would be great. Also, I am looking to tone up after I lose some weight. Any specific ideas of exercises to do that fit within my workout plan? Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Your workout plan sounds pretty good, here are some nutritional and healthy meal guidelines:1.Commit to consuming 4 - 6 small meals and snacks everyday. 2.To succeed, you must plan ahead by packing your foods the night before. Thus, you should always have fresh and low-fat foods around. 3.Keep it simple. Don t get too caught up on the specifics or your diet. Start by simply just counting calories. 4.Eat your foods slower. 5.Make healthier food selections like fruits, vegetables, whole grain cereals, and beans, low-fat or nonfat dairy products, low fat meats, fish and skinless poultry. 6.Avoid foods that are high in fat and calories. 7.Avoid foods that are high in sugars such as pastries, candy bars, pies and candy. 8.Use a variety of fruits and vegetables in your nutrition plan. Start by trying to eat 5 total vegetable and fruit servings every single day.

For most people the problem when it come to meals isn t WHAT they eat, it s HOW MUCH they eat. Portion control is probably the most important first step to eating well.Sounds like you have the workout routine scheduled out well. Now just stick to it and you should be good to go.The hardest part of getting in shape isn t learning what to do..... it s actually doing it!

Help me with my whole healthy weight loss week....? -

I ve got a week off of work and I m going to dedicate it to weight loss. (Obviously do a few things inbetween!)I go to slimming world which is a healthy eating/weight loss club, I ve been following the diet for 6 months now and I ve lost 17lb, it s easy to follow, basically healthy eating. I m also a regular at the gym (Just not so regular as before!)I ve got a week off of work, to just chill. But I m going to dedicate it to losing weight. I m going to follow the diet religiously and work out at my hardest at the gym...Any tips at all? Such as workouts? Detox stuff? The maximum I ve lost in a week is 3.5lb purely doing the diet. Any tips or advice will be much appreciated! Thanks! (In advance!!)

First of all, give yourself a big pat on the back... for dedicating the week to health and fitness... that is the first step towards success. Second, I would break away from the normal exercises you do and try something different, that you can t easily do while working.Try a 10 mile bike ride everyday... through the internet, I am sure you could find some great bike paths. Or, map out a 6 mile walk for each day... see something beautiful, and pack water! If you like to swim, do that too! There is an old vcr I have (I also have it on dvd,) called Callanetics. It is all about stretching exercises, and let me tell you it works to tone muscles you never knew you had. If you can t find it at the local video store, try amazon, or yahoo shopping. You feel totally relaxed after the tape, like you just went to the spa. You can see a difference after only 10 hours.... I m not kidding and this is not a commercial (I have no affiliation with them.)Anyhow, you have motivated me to lose the weight I want to lose, so I will practice what I preach, and break out the tape and follow weight watchers (which I am on now.) Good luck... and Good loss!!! Positive attitude is everything, and you have that!
