Running or swimming, which helps to lose weight faster? -

i have started swimming, i have started foing around 30 lengths in abour 10/15 minutes , twice a week but dont think it helps me lose weight ( i want to lose weight and tone up around my stomach) would goind for a 20 minute jog be better as i feel more tired when i have finished a run? thanks :-)

I have never lost weight while swimming. I find jogging better.

Depends on how fast you re swimming and what stroke you re using. Buttefly and front crawl are most aerobic. Swimming is a little easier on your body -- you won t get overheated in the water, and you re not overtaxing your joints (no impact). The water resistance gives you a bit of toning work as well.

Both are great exercises for loosing weight if you stick to a healthy diet. But I reckon you should go for the one you enjoy the most and are most likely to stick to....its the consistency see....that and having it as a part of your regular routine. Exercise helps you feel good about yourself whether loosing weight or not...thats a real bonus for anyone to have

when you are swimming you use more muscles than when you are running.

wow that first answer sucked.Green tea isnt goin to make u lose much weight.Running will help lose fluids such a water and salts and detox,As soon as you drink water from being thirsty u will replace what u lost in running. swimming will help u have zero strain on your joints and build endurance fast. they key is to get your rate up.If you are just starting out and your body isnt used to running 2 miles straight without stopping for example swimming will build you up by working those lungs and get that heart pumping.if u stop eating fast foods and taking in a lot of sugar you will lose wweight without even exercising.it is true that u take in less and burn more, but the flip side of that is your body will go into starvation mode and will store what u eat. what u want to do is drink 80 ounces of water a day( i prefer sugar free fitness water) get the powder kind it makes 2 quarts and helps flush out toxins hydrate and water actually burns fat, and eat 5 times a day small portions and healthy snacks salads, greens and fruits.cardio 3 times a week to start,,,, dont overdue it!!!! you want to treat your body good not shock it. so change diet to healthy alternatives lower carbs and sugars and drink water. as far and running versus swimming they are about the same as for as caloric burn depending on intensity and how long u keep your heart rate at the fat bruning level.if you go too hard you will break down muscle fiber so just get to a pace where u can are breathing heavier than walking but not so fast as a full sprint just keep it medium slow and concentrate on your breath control and not so much on the fact that you are running or swimming.mental strength will build u will see inches lose and feel so healthy. It will also produce the happy chemicals in your brain so you will feel energized and happy thru the day, and depression will cease. just remember to have fun and change up your routine, run in the park instead of on a treadmill or go for a brisk hike bring water and instead of hitting Mickey D s keep fruit with you so you wont be tempted bananas help in recovery and apples are a good source of fiber and sugar.do a colon cleanse too you will feel great in no time.Good Luck

running because you sweat moreplus if if you were to swim a lot you s lose wait however your shoulders would be wider

Swimming is like the best waythen trampoleeningOH and destroying planets

Both are equally as good. Swimming is a great way to tone up your arms, legs, and stomach area. However running burns fat a lot quicker. Do a mix of them both, it will help a lot.

swimming is better in that u burn more calories than when u run or jog, sweating has nothing to do with losing actual weigth, well it does water weight, but that will be gained back as soon as you drink water. And yes doing both is better than one, becasue doing only swimming your body gets used to it and wont see as mucch beneftit both is beter but if you ahd to do one swimming

Swimming wears out fewer parts. Many dedicated joggers are paying for it in their old age with joint replacements.

Swimming is better because you use nearly all your muscles.

Do both. It s good to have a mix.
