What are good and not dangerous weight loss tips? -

im 5 foot 6.weigh about 123.i just want to know how to loose weight so i don t have that ugly fat looking arms, stomach, and thighs/shins.i cant take pills, and i don t want to do anything drastic.i drink protein waters, and i don t eat meat.i eat fruits.but not a lot of veggies.i walk home, and to stores.i don t participate in PE that much but i do run.i know i should start exercising more often.but what else do i need to do?

I have been through it all and know what s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it s good for the heart. However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I ve found a great addition to help any one out, it s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it s the best pill I ve tried and I ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

How can I put on weight? Im 53 and 100 lbs.? -

I m tired of all these diet pills and weight loss programs etc. Is there nothing out there to help put on weight (food ideas would be great). My metabolism is high plus my geneology has a role in my weight (mother was 90 lbs. 5 2) and 2 of my kids are built like me. Help! I want to gain weight!

Send me your body - I will fatten it up. No problem. Maybe we could just trade for a week or two? If you are naturally thin you just have to accept your body for the way it is. Try eating a candy bar every evening, and dessert with your lunch every day. Have a high calorie afternoon snack. It will take a while, but that worked for my mom (5 2 91lb), she has gained 7 lbs since Christmas doing that. Good luck.

eat oily fatty stuff.....I dn knw if its good for health..I guess that helps people put on weight. dnt work too much.....join a local gym where instructors are available to guide..

bananas rich icecream and poundcake

Whats bad about weight loss products? Do they work? Are they dangerous? Why such an increase in sales? -

Im doing a reasearch paper on weight loss products, and i would like to know what people think about the dangers in taking them? Thanks!

The attraction of diet pills and there appealing weight loss claims can be hard to pass up. Are you doing reseach on diet pills/products are the safe and effective as they claim to be?Currently dietary supplements and weight loss products are not subjected to the same rigorous standards as prescription drugs and over the counter medications. As a result of the lack of testing many of the weight loss products on offer are marketed with very limited proof of effectiveness or safety.Extensive studies have been carried out on many of the most popular diet pills and their ingredients in order to discover which diet pills can effectively help people to reach their weight loss goals. But do slimming pills really work? Currently in the UK, there are only two anti-obesity drugs available on prescription C Xenical (Orlistat) and Reductil (Sibutramine). These work in completely different ways. Xenical blocks the action of lipase, the enzyme that digests fat in the intestine and stops around 30 percent of the fat youve eaten from being absorbed. As a result, your body loses around a third of the calories provided by this fat so you start to lose weight! In contrast, Reductil enhances satiety by indirectly boosting levels of serotonin, a chemical that helps you feel full. This means you feel more satisfied with less food and so eat smaller amounts and lose weight. The good news is that, unlike many of the slimming pills you can buy at your local health store, Xenical and Reductil are both clinically proven to help people lose weight and generally receive the support of most health professionals. Unfortunately, its a far cry from the types of slimming pill you can buy over-the-counter in chemists or health stores. In general, theres little evidence that the ingredients they contain will work to help you lose weight. Theres not much research to suggest that over-the-counter slimming pills induce weight loss,Unfortunately, a lack of information, little proof theyll work and potentially putting your health at risk is not the only price youll need to be prepared to pay. Most over-the-counter pills are extremely expensive, too, with the result that you can be sure youll lose pounds C but probably not the right sort!

Alot of it seems to come down to the modern idea of a wonder drug to fix all problems. You re sad? medicate. Childs over active? medicate. Bit fat? medicate. There is no drug that doesn t have side effects and plenty of people who have adverse effects or allergic reactions.People want the quick fix without the effort, but often without a matching lifestyle change the benefits won t last.

People take them because they are waiting for a miracle pill. Americans are becoming more obese and over weight because of the lack of activity. Some products can be very harmful, if you dont consult your doctor about taking them first. You can take all of the diet pills in the world, but they still wont work if you dont eat healthier and exercise.Good luck with your paper

Is limited use of purging as part of a weight loss plan bad? -

A friend of mine who has about 50 pounds to lose is thinking of vomiting about 3 times a week (to get rid of about 1000 caloires each time), in conjuction with some dieting and exercise. My friend is pointing out out that this is not at all bulimia -- she is just trying to lose some weight. She has done lots of research, and will be doing things to prevent the various side effects (eg from the acid, electrolyte imbalance, etc). She did point out that at 3 times a week, the side effects won t be that bad regardless, but she is still going to address them.At first I was telling her this was a bad idea, but after talking with her, it really seems like not a bad option. Obviously if you are puking 5 times a day it is a bad idea, but as part of a weight loss program that includes cutting out sugar, high fat foods, and exercise... I don t know. It seems like she s making a good point.... I m thinking her choice makes sense. What do you think?

That s a lot of damage to the esophagus and teeth. Not healthy at all.

It s dangerous, apart from the risk of choking it could be the start of the slippery slope to bulimia.Instead of purging 3 times a week, which will lose no weight at all, tell her to drink plenty of water, watch what she eats and get more exercise. Now for the fun bit,if vomiting 3 times week will get rid of 3000 cals, what the heck is she eating for it to come out at the rate of 1000cals a vomit?

It is bad,,,better of not eating, at least she wouldnt waste the food that way...lol

Not a great idea, as there are better ways to control weight. Purging doesn t get rid of any calories other than those you just ate. Eating sensible meals and exercise are better options. If you aren t eating lots of calories, why would you need to throw them up?It also seems like a method that could lead to anorexia, as one will be getting used to purging. It might become too tempting.

its hard to answer that, bulimia is bad i was bulimic why not jsut cut out the meals in stead fo throwing it back up.seruosly hard to answer, bottom line is that he will become dependant on this to lose the weight, even with diet and exercise she will start to feel like anyfood is too much. and then instead of once a week its 3 times a day or how ever often she eats. its not something to play with. believe me on that. its perminantly changes how you view food and how your body reacts to it.l

loosing weight = good idea.purging = badhere s why: it burns your esophagus. that is irreparable.it eats the enamel off of your teeth.it screws with your digestion, think of the confusion your body world feel,, produce acid, or don t?

if purging was 100% safe and effective id say go for it but its not. and if she starts doing it she *will* get addicted to doing it.MOST importantly though is you absorb most of the calories from food by the time you can puke it back up / get rid of it by going to the bathroom, so its pointless. its just not wise.*edit*something else i should mention that i havent seen mentioned yet, the more she forces herself to throw up, the weaker her gag reflex will become... ask any bulimic, they ll probably tell you that aside from all the other damage they ve done to their body, that a mere dry cough can be enough to make them throw up.

Yes, it s bad. It s always bad. How about not putting that extra 1000 calories into your body in the first place? Seems like a much simpler solution to me.Also, vomiting is very damaging to the esophagus. Stomach acids are VERY corrosive to other parts of the body than the stomach itself. It wears away the enamel on your teeth, as well.

It sounds like a good idea, really... but you ll do it those few times a week. And it ll feel amazing. You re going to feel great about yourself, and feel empty and proud. So, you ll think Another time a week won t hurt. and it ll get worse. I know it doesn t seem like it, but purging has been proven to be addictive. Bullimics don t want to do it, but they feel they have to. I think that the fact that you are trying to lose weight and purging is a bad combination. It s the pretense for an eating disorder. You might think That ll never happen to me. I don t hate myself. I don t hate my body. I don t want to starve, ect. but your mind changes over time. Losing weight and purging is VERY addictive. I hope this doesn t sound mean. Purging does work at first. It will help you lose weight. But then you ll binge, because one day after you purge, you ll feel SO hungry. You ll binge and then purge that. You won t be able to stop. It ll control your life. Go on a diet, eat healthier.. that s all fine. But in the long run, you ll wish you never started. If you have any more question, or if you still want to do this and need to talk, I ll answer anything and listen without going against it, especially if you really want it. I know about this from experience.By the way, purging only gets rid of 10-50% of calories, and that s only if you do it RIGHT afterwards. It also causes you to become hungrier. That is why most bullimics gain weight over time.

Are you high? Puking isn t an effective way to lose weight.

Well what a stupid way to lose weight---tell her to try the salad bar and eat nothing but healthy food and less crap. Vomiting 3 times a week will put acids in the esophagas that will eat away at the throat and burn what doesn t ever need to be burned. What research is she doing?? Not a sane doctor in the world would recommend throwing up 3 times a week. Normal meals and exercize--even just walking--will help rid the 50 pounds safely....and at a proper rate of loss. No diet should start without a visit to the doctor--discuss the plans that he will recommend--and I bet you a million dollars he won t include puking in the instructions.

purging is always bad.

it is never a good idea..never!

gastric acid burns. Plain and simple. If you re going to vomit up your last meal, why not just skip that meal in the first place, and avoid the risk? It s a waste of time, money, and effort to eat and then chuck. It s also insulting to the cook, not to mention bad breathe, etc.Instead of vomiting 1000 calories 3 times a week ( assuming 1000 calories = 1 meal), that s 21 000 calories - 3000 = 18000 per week. Why not just eat an 850 calorie meal instead? That s like cutting out half a dessert per meal, or one glass of milk per meal.

She should not purge as from my understanding purging can be addictive when results are seen. People purge as a means to control something in their lives in her case its her weight and her poorly thought out will not work. She needs to first eat healthier foods, buy a health food cookbook and religiously stick to the foods that they tell you to eat. She then needs to develop some sort of an exercise program that will work for her and seek your support and motivation. It is as simple as that. Lose weight the right way. Eat what you needCut back or maintain a healthy caloric intakeExercise daily ( something aerobic and strengthening)Discipline yourself and repeat everyday. Good luck.

Anytime you interfere with the normal functions of the body it is a bad idea. Purging not only effects the esophagus and teeth as mentioned above, but there are risks associated with it. For example, when you vomit you risk getting fluid into your airway and cause what s known as aspiration pneumonia. By purging you also are effecting your bile levels in the stomach which contribute to other health conditions. No matter how much research your friend has done, if you ask any qualified physician they will tell you that it is not a good idea. Whether it s once a week or once an hour, your friend was diagnosed with bulimia as soon as she induced vomiting the first time.

tell ur firend its bad! my friend did the same, my friend started to do it more and actauly got addictied to it, it also skrewed her inside up

im bulemic n i just started about 3 weeks ago but my friend says stop but i cant but i know its bad and unhealthy no matter if you only do it once so your friend is making a bad decision u should stop her like im trying to stop myself

Absolutely not. I would say it s a terrible idea. The very fact that she is planning on it is disturbing to me. Purging at all is a very bad idea, and I very much doubt it would be as regulated as she says. Purging is not the activity of a mentally healthy individual and I would encourage her to address the issues leading her to consider this and to seek counseling. This is not to say she s crazy; I generally think that nearly everyone could benefit from some counseling time. I just think this signifies possible problems that should be nipped in the bud.

that s the worst idea ever.a) it s gross.b) it ruins your teeth.c) it damages your esophagus. i have no idea how she plans to prevent that one.d) it hurts.e) i used to have an eating disorder. they re not a joke; they re a mental illness. even if you start innocently, things can get out of control fast. soon, 3 times a week won t be good enough it will turn into 3 times a day. f) just don t do it.

purging is VERY BAD--all that hydrochloric acid in your stomach goes up your throat every time you do this. Your stomach has a protective lining to stop the hydrochloric acid from destroying it, but the tube from your throat to your stomach has no such protection. DO NOT DO THIS---it will cause far more harm than any weight loss it MAY or may not produce.

Yes! This is a bad idea. For starters, purging is addictive; she may begin with a limited routine, but it will likely become a daily practice. Also, throwing up food (when one isn t sick) actually makes a person hungrier, often causing them to eat soon after. This causes a person to gain more weight because the calories of the purged meal do not all disappear, leaving empty calories but no actual nutrients. When the person eats again, they will be consuming the calories of two meals. Plus it s bad for your body; it can damage your teeth, stomach, and esophogas, as well as cause random unwanted uncontrollable vomiting. I would advise you to tell your friend to eat well and excercise; this will serve her much better in the long run!

Purging in any form is harmful.. sure she will start at 3 times a week then she will want to binge and purge more frequently to get the weight off quicker and the cycle will continue. She needs your support to find healthier ideas. Please help her find the local support she needs to get healthy the proper way. good luck to you and her

if you REALLY WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT AND FAT then you should remember and do this:EVERYDAY RUN ( FAST WALK) + L-Carnitine + TAKE LESS CALORIES + LIPO-6 = 100% SUCCESS1) if you dint have then buy scales!!! that is the first thing to do!!2) run every 2 days for at least ~30 minutes or/and walk every day at least 5 km!3) L-Carnitine!!!L-Carnitine is a nutrient that helps the body turn fat into energy. It is produced by the body in the liver and kidneys and stored in the skeletal muscles, heart, brain, and sperm. Usually, the body can make all the carnitine it needs. Some people, however, may be deficient in carnitine because their bodies cannot make enough carnitine or transport it into tissues so it can be used. Some other conditions, such as angina or intermittent claudication, can also cause insufficient carnitine in the body, as can some medications.L-Carnitine is made in the body from the amino acids lysine and methionine. It increases the use of fat as an energy source by transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are burned to release energy for body functions. It is available in several different forms including propionyl-L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine. Propionyl-L-carnitine, through its enhancement of metabolism has been proven to prevent ischemia-induced heart dysfunction, and acetyl-L-carnitine has been suggested to delay the progression of Alzheimers disease. L-carnitine is found naturally in avocados, breast milk, dairy products, red meats (namely lamb and beef), and tempeh (fermented soybean product). L-carnitine should be taken one hour before you will exercise! (Also you can take L-carnitine with meals or 1 to 1-1/2 hours after meals!) L-Carnitine boosts energy by stimulating the body s burning of tryglycerides as fuel, and sparing the supply of glycogen stored in the liver for heavier exertion. During exercise, the body will burn fat at a rate of 75-80% of maximum exertion, thus less glycogen from carbohydrates is burned. L-carnitine allows the body to burn more fat, save more glycogen, and ultimately boost stamina and endurance. By providing more fat to the muscles, carnitine makes accessible an otherwise unavailable energy source. FAT + OXYGEN + L-CARNITINE = ENERGY 5) you MUST change your diet!! start to use products with less fat, less carbohydrates! start count your calories! do not eat more than ~1800 per day and if you feel that you can reduce this number then do it! because if you will use L-Carnitine - you will get calories from your body fat too!! so better is to eat 2kg fruits then 1 cheeseburger...and drink more and more water!! REMEMBER - NO rice, NO pasta, NO pork, NO mayonnaise, NO sweets, NO candies, NO alcohol!!!!!MORE fruits, vegetables!!!6) also you should use some fat-burner! I had tried many of them but only one worked for me as fast as I wanted to! it was Lipo-6! I lost ~80 pounds in 3 months! No starvation!! only LESS CALORIES + Lipo-6 + L-Carnitine + EVERYDAY RUN (FAST WALK) = SUCCESS!!! I do not know if any store carry Lipo-6 but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.healthbuy.com/product/overvieIt worked for me and my wife! and this method is working for my friends too!!just try it and I guarantee you 100% that you will lose wight!!!good luck!!!

What % body fat can be realistically lost in 3 months? -

I ve read from multiple sources that healthy weight loss should typically not exceed more than one pound per week. What about % body fat? I want to lose 10 lbs, and drop from 29% body fat to about 22% body fat. How long should I plan to take to do that?

Thats very realistic, losing ten pounds can take anywhere from 1 month to 3 months depending on your metabolism and your lifestyle. Go on a simply diet, with lots of water, and eat in moderation. Don t over eat, that is the simplest, yet most important part of a diet, excerise, even walking helps.Good Luck, this is very realistic

I suggest a steady regime of Crystal-Methamphetamine combined with a vigorous workout such as basketball, running, masturbation,etc.......Good Luck

Read some useful weight loss tips on this site to help you

if you want to comftorably do it about 2 months if you have to do it fast about 3 weeks

I figure it is best to try to lose 5 to 10 lbs a week to stay healthy, and lose wait kind of quickly. its best to do it gradually. Anyways you could lose about 60 to 100 lbs in that time to stay healthy it would take about a week to lose the weight and you could set a limit on calories and eat less unsaturated fats.Saturated fats settle in the small intestine causing the fat to be shown.

I don t know how much you currently weight, but if you want to drop from 29% and 22%, realisticially, this could take 2-4 months if losing 1lb per week. You could be looking at losing anywhere between 10lb-20lb to reach your goal, but like I said, it depends on your weight at present. HTH : )

Your looking at 6 months... you will loose about 12%-15% in 3 months... and it best to do it gradually, as MOST ppl who experience rapid weight loss, gain it ALL back, as soon as desired goal is achieved.Be careful.

Two months should do it comfortably.

Why do I have hard things inside my nipples? -

I ve had this off and on since I was like 11 or 12. i m 22 now, white male.Where if I press down on my nipple I feel something in there, it s hard, not quite as big as my nipple, maybe like the size of a couple pea s or something. And they get bigger, than they get smaller, i think they ve even gone away before. One time I gained a whole bunch of weight they were really big than, now I ve lost a lot of weight (healthy weight loss) they ve gone down, just wana know what that is!? thanks!

I had them. I went to my doctor and he called them breast buds. Nothing to worry about and totally normal. By the way, looking online it seems that most stuff on them is aimed towards girls. I am male and I had them, confirmed by my doctor, so don t worry.
