My newborn daughter weighs in at almost 10 lbs. Shes a big girl.? -

I know childhood obesity is a problem. How long should we wait before put her on a weight-loss program?

Don t starve your child. Just because she is big at birth does not mean she will be a big child, or baby for that matter. My son weighed over 8lbs. when she was born. He was a little big for a while, very heavy - seemed to gain weight really fast, but he wasn t fat, just big. He is now 4 and he is so durn tiny that I wish he could gain a little weight.Wait until she is about 3 or 4, but talk to a dr. first, don t do anything on your own. When she is able to stand up and walk, do fun things with her so she is exercising and having fun, like dancing and running around.

You know what I meant, there is no reason to be so smart, I said my son. You are the idiot with issues thinking you need to put your newborn on a diet. I think you are more worried about her being fat than her health. And my son is a boy, it was a typo. Report Abuse

she isnt big!??!?!?!? y would you put her on a weightloss program??? she is newborn!!!LOL, but seriosly, thats a bit big but she shouldnt og on a diet or a probram, when i was newborn i weight 8ish 9 pounds and im actually underweight now

Don t worry about it. My son was born at 6lb 13oz and now at the age of 15mo, he s bigger than most 3 year olds. They balance out in the long run. Right now they need the baby fat and fatty foods to build up their body and immune system. They figure out childrens growth on a generic chart. As long as she is within the guidelines the pediatrition states, nothing to worry about. Be happy she s not 20lbs.

That is a big girl!

congratulations on your healthy baby girl! you must be careful not to underfeed a baby they are still developing and need to eat well.talk to your pediatrician i am sure they will tell you what to do to keep your baby healthy and happy.good luck.

newborns are not obese. they can be big. but they can not be overweight.

That should be up to her peditrician to decide. Next time you take her to the doctors, tell him/her your concerns see what he/she says.

are you serious? My son was 9lbs at birth. She is fine. If you have questions talk to her doctor.

Yes, she s a big baby. I had four daughters, my youngest came in a 9lbs 9oz at birth. She s FINE...no obesity.Don t START this problem with your daughter!!! Many causes for babies to be born this large, for me it was gestational borderline diabetes. Yes, moms with blood sugar problems do tend to have larger babies. Also genetics play into this. My ex was a large baby when he was born (just under 10 lbs himself). I was normal (7 lbs). There are variations with this normal range, and your pediatrician will tell you this and will discourage you from viewing a newborn child as obese. Best approach: let the child grow normally and by all means...have mom breast feed!!

omg too early to think of that way too earlyive heard of babies weighing more than that

Wow, she s really a big girl. But that s for you to ask the doctor, when she was born, didn t the doctor tell you that she was overweight?

I wouldn t even think of it!!!My first child was 10lbs. 10oz and 24 inches at birth. He s 22 years old now, 6ft 3inches and weighs 185.Healthy and all I did was teach him how to eat properly as he grew up.

please tell me you are joking

just because she weighs 10 pounds doesn t mean there s something wrong with her, I ve had so many relatives have 10 pounds and 91/2 pound babies.. she s just a big girl.. no weightplan necessary unless she is 16 and so fat she can t control her weight.

I was 10 lbs. and am healthy as a horse now. Babies are supposed to be fat. It is why the human race is still alive. It is for their protection. It is healthy and natural for a baby to be fat. Don t diet her now because that will harm the baby. Just feed her a regular amount. Don t worry about weight loss stuff until she is much older-if she s still even fat. I knew a girl that was about 10 lbs. and is now skinny as a rail. Don t worry about it.

hahahaha...you re kidding right?

How many calories should I take in with over 200 pounds to lose? -

I have over 200 pounds to lose and I am starting a weight loss program but want to know how many calories would I intake for weight loss? I plan to include activity but right now I want to focus on the calories first so activity will be there but wont be a lot at first and gradually increase. Please only answer if you have serious information to help me (no wise guys please).

HiI m a weight loss consultant and personal trainer and am happy to help in any way I can. i have so far lost around 150 lbs and i know how hard it is i still need to lose around another 100lbs!!The amount of calories you need depends on your activity levels and current weight and age. for example a 30 year old woman at 5ft 6inweighing 10 stones needs 1372 calories per day just to function ie breath and for her heart to beat, where a 20 stone woman needs 2743 just to function. To lose 1lb per week you need a calorie deficit of 500 calories Ie you need to burn 500 Cal s more than you take in. if you email me your height weight and age I can give you a more accurate idea of what is right for you. Don t get too bogged down with Cal s though enjoy a healthy diet of Fresh fruits veg and low fat protein and high fibre carbs and the weight will start to drop of. Add in some exercise, a gentle walk to begin with and you will be well on your weight loss journey.gymbabe1972@yahoo.co.uk

Your caloric intake is actually going to depend on your activity level. The more you do, the more you need to eat. You must remember not to restrict yourself too much. At the moment, just have a normal day and count the calories of what you eat. Subtract 500 from that total. Keep doing this every week until you re at about 1500 calories. Do not just DROP all those calories at once, this is not healthy for your body. However, the more you exercise, the more you ll need to eat. There s no real way to calculate this, so you ll just have to listen to your body. For example, when I was trying to lose the last 35lbs, I d work out 14-16 times per week and eat over 3100 calories a day. It took me just 3 months to lose those last 35lbs. I ended up losing about 100lbs in about 10 months. So trust me, it is do-able and doesn t require a bunch of point counting or anything. Just always do your best, and email me if you have any questions! I m here to help :)

1200 per day should make you lose weight fast without exercising.

What are some effective weight-loss products? -

That do not contain harmful things such as ephedra or any sort of stimulant? I m about 5 7, 5 8 and weigh 159 (which is too much in my opinion) and I want to lose 20 lbs. I feel disgusting and want to get rid of it. I exercise often and I eat right but its not enough.

Please trust me when I say you don t need a weight loss pill to lose weight. Nobody does. If they are so effective why then are there new one constantly coming out into the market. Pretty easy to answer that one, they don t work .Each pill has there own set of side effects and hidden dangers and all have the potential to cause harm. Why would you take the risk when you can lose weight by simply eating well and exercising. There is no magic secret to weight loss. It is all about hard work, commitment, goal setting and desire. If you want to lose weight you can and you will. This following website gives you the tools you need to develop a healthy lifestyle and maintain it for a lifetime.Good luck and all the best with your weight loss goals

Any weight loss tips on how to make your frame smaller? -

I am 19 year old guy, 5 9 , 183lbs (approx. 13st) and I want to get down to around 150lbs. I am being VERY healthy at the moment with 3 balanced meals that totals around 1,500 calories per day. I am also working out for 1 hour everyday, which is helping shift weight. The reason I am posting this question is because I usually take a 34R pant size, but I want to try and get down to a 32R. I tried some on today and although they fit fine, they are very tight around the butt and legs and there is about a 2 inch gap round the waist. I am worried that working out will beef my legs up, when all I wanna do is just lose weight and tone up. Any tips on how to avoid gaining muscle-crazy legs etc...?

Don t do weight training on your legs. Only cardio that involves use of the legs. That way your legs get a natural workout from using them in a way your body is meant to use them, and you will burn calories (lose fat) but doing the aerobic exercise. As an aside, you can t make your frame smaller. Your frame refers to your bone structure.

Dear friend, It seems that you are not so over weight. You can control your weight and hip size by proper tummy care exercises that I hope you will be aware of. However please try the site below.

Cardio will hel pyou burn the fat, but not get bigger. You seem like you are a good size now, but if you are determind to get even more in shape, do cardio excersizes like running.

You sound like you re at a healthy weight for your height. And no one can tell what size pants you have on. Just wear what fits and looks good.

Switch over to mainly cardio and you will be fine. Do cardio 5x a week and at least 5miles a day. I am about the same height as you and I also went from a 34 to a 32 and am now on my way towards a 30 but I have been doing weight training as well and have large legs but have not seen that as a factor in my waist size.Switch over to cardio and see how that helps with the waist line/ butt area for 3 weeks. Good luck

Instead of working out with alot of weight, do more reps with less weight...this will help you not gain all of the mass.

Well, that depends on a lot of things. First off, if you are doing any squats, lunges, cycling on steep incline, etc. you re not going to lose the backyard, it will get bigger. There s a reason the gluteus IS maximus. There may be other factors that you can t control. I happen to have abnormally large quads which makes buying pants difficult because they are tight in the thigh area but gigantic everywhere else. This is because I have very weak feet and ankles and subsequently my feet pronante (roll in) quite a lot. When this happens, the calcaneus drops towards the floor and extra stress is put on the patellar tendon which causes the larger muscle groups like the quads to take over rather than the smaller groups such as my external hip rotators. So my quads are basically working three times as hard as they should. My solution was to get properly fitted shoes. For athletics, for dress and for casual wear I have shoes that are structured and supportive and provide me with enough stability that my quads don t have to work as hard. They re still large, but not nearly as big as they used to be. It is only because I began supporting my whole frame from the ground up. Go to a shoe store and be fitted for shoes. There should be a store in town that knows about feet and usually these are your top-end running shoe stores for people who run marathons and whatnot. Don t try this at a Foot Locker or a Champs. Pay no attention to what they look like. You are buying these for the effect, not for the style. Then, have them help you find some dress and casual shoes or find a way to get an orthotic liner (if you need one) in your dress or casual shoes. If you wear good shoes to workout, but wear crap the rest of the time, you re not doing yourself any good. You walk around for 10 hours a day in garbage, then for 1 hour you wear good shoes and expect it to help and it is not going to happen. This was just my case. This is what worked for me. Beyond all of it, you could just be pear shaped. It happens. The good news is that there will be a pants designer that makes pants for your frame. Tailoring is also a GREAT option. That way, you can get all the room you need in the seat, but they can take in the waist for the perfect fit. My guess is that if you had your pants tailored and they fit well, you d actually like your backside. When I started doing that, all the girls took notice and now I love it.

Fat Miniature Dachshund Weight loss tips? -

I have a 9 month old miniture dachshund, he seems to be maybe 3 pounds overweight. I take him for walks twice a week or more. I need to know more tips for miniture dachshund dieting. Please help!

First of all, weight loss in dogs is the same as weight loss in humans. It boils down to a matter of calories, Start with your vet. Take the dog in for a checkup, and discuss this with your vet. They are the best ones to advise you whether or not you need to put your dog on a reduced calorie diet, or whether cutting down on dog treats, substituting carrots instead, and cutting back on the dogs regular food is going to be the answer for you. Also, try walking the dog every day. Diet and exercise, in moderation, and how much weight to lose each week, so that it is done slowly, so as not to stress the dog.

Just like with humans, the only way for a dog to lose weight is less intake or more output, i.e. fewer calories and/or more exercise. You can walk him once or twice a day, or throw a ball and get him to bring it back. They make special foods that are lower calorie, but check with a vet since he s still a puppy. Only feed him the recommended amount twice a day. Don t leave food out all the time.

3 lbs is a lot for a breed that weighs around 10 lbs. It s the equivalent of a 125 lb woman gaining 37 lbs. My dog was overweight, too. I cut his feeding back to twice a day and at scheduled times. No free feedings or filling up his bowl just because it s empty. Walking twice a week isn t regular enough to benefit from.

How much are you feeding him and what are you feeding him? Maybe you need to cut back on the food a little bit. But three pounds isn t much. I suggest you start taking him for daily walks, he ll lose the weight quickly and he ll keep it off.

Feed her a good quality dog food that is meant for overweight dogs , and DO NOT feed her ANY table scraps (human food) no matter how much she begs and looks cute for it. She will eat her dog food eventually. Here is a site that will show you which dog foods are the best and the worst. I suggest that you get any one of the dog foods that are top rated. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_Most of grocery store dog food formulas, like IAMS, Pedigree, Science Diet, Purina, and etc contain meat and bone meal which has been known to contain dead dogs and cats that were euthanized in animal shelters. Their bodies are picked up and bought by the truck load by rendering plants , that also pick up road kill, dead live stock, and etc. They are shredded, and boiled. They skim off the fat on the top of the soup and collected it and sell it to pet food companies as animal fat , the rest of the animals remains are crushed up, dried and sold to dog and cat food companies as meat and bone meal. You can read more about it here.http://earthislandprojects.org/eijournalHere is an article where the owner of a rendering plant talks about it. He says that cremating the dead shelter animals would cause pollution, and that rendering them is good.http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m5Here is further information on what you shouldn t see in the ingredients list in your dog s food.http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?Top rated dog foods like Canidae contain good healthy ingredients.
