Im 13 and I need some weight loss tips...and how to gain more muscle than just lifting? -

Well I m a bit overwieght and I want to slim down and speed up. I lift every day but I need another way to gain mucsle. Any tips?

First of all, before focusing on muscle training, you should focus on not being overweight .This can be achieved like this: 1. Wake up early, and drink a glass - small bottle of cold water on an empty stomach, this will cause your body to increase your core body temperature, and therefore burning calories.2. Once you ve had your cold water, wait for about 30 - 50 minutes before you have breakfast. I recommend you have a bowl of Special K cereal with skimmed (no fat!) milk.3. Exercise!! It is the most important factor overall! For weight loss, you need to perform cardio. Walk at a fast pace for about 30 minutes, as a warm up. Then keep on running as fast as you can, and when you get tired, walk until you re able to run again. Repeat this routine until you ve worked out another 20 minutes. If you have access to a gym, i suggest you do 20-30 minutes on a treadmill, speed 5.5, and increasing by 0.5 each 7 minutes. Once you re done with that, use an Elliptical Trainer / Cross-Trainer: these machines are fun-to-use and easy-to-use. I enjoy working out on these. Perform sit-ups before you go to bed.4. You must have lunch! But reduce the amount of food you normally eat, it will be easier if you use a smaller plate.5. Stay away from fried food, junk food, greasy food, candy, sweets, chocolates, potato chips, and sodas.6. Have a cup of green tea, without adding any sugar. It s been proven that green tea stimulates your metabolism, and helps you burn more calories. I suggest you have that 2-3 hours after lunch time.7. Try to engage in reading rather than watching T.V., researches have shown that you burn 19% more calories reading, than watching T.V.8. Drink alot of water!9. Have 5-6 smaller meals rather than 3 large meals.10. Snack on healthy food such as veggies, fruits, and/or nuts!11. Try not to eat past 7 P.M., or wait 3 hours to sleep after having a meal in the evening.I once followed that routine, and I lost 3-5 pounds a week.Once you ve lost your excess fat, you can go to muscle training. You can try push ups, sit ups, pull ups, and ofcourse, free weights.Be sure to get your daily supply of proteins, forget all the protein bar / shakes. Eat real food. Boiled eggs, grilled chicken, or tuna.I hope I ve helped.Night Wolf.

Gaining muscle tone is only 30% of what you do in the gym. Diet, sleep, and nutrional suppliments are a huge key. Reduce calories intake to 1500 a day, spread over 5 small means. Cut out fat. Eat alot of lean protein. Do not forget to do cardio. In 3 months, if you keep to this, you will look like a different person.

The only thing I would add to Cyestein s answer is to drink only and alot of water!

Diet/Loose Weight!!!? -

I really am NOT happy with my weight....15 years old, 5 1, 120lbs (soo FAT!) I need a good diet to loose about 10 pounds in 2 weeks...plz helpdiet tips, what not to eat, what to eat, diet plans, how did u loose weight...etcrunning on the tredmill for 20 mintues ok? no pills, no Ur not fat , and no weight loss programs

Eat healthy.Stick with salads, soups, and sandwiches. Count calories and make sure you are getting adequate amounts of fiber daily. Eat all the food groups and try to cut out saturated and trans fats. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables when you feel like snacking. Eat granola bars when you want a treat. Keep condoments and dressings to a minimum, and if you do only use less or as much as the recommended serving size. Drink lots of water and never drink soda. Only drink 100% juices. Keep sugar content low. Sodium intake needs to be watched also(it can cause you to retain water). Also, don t drink water while eating. For breakfast-granola with fruit and a glass of OJ. For lunch-a turkey sandwich, carrots, yogurt cup, and a cheese stick. For dinner-chicken or LEAN steak, cooked or grilled veggies, and a glass of low-fat milk.Get exercise.Workout at least 3 days a week for one hour. But umm 20 minutes on the treadmill are okay at first. If you want to you can workout at home, but that gets difficult. Just go to the gym. That way you have a specific place and time to work out. Also, after each meal a few turns with a jump rope can make all the difference. After you burn fat from cardio, then start doing crunches and sit-ups to strengthen your abdominal muscles. Don t really do those until you burn a significant amount of fat. If you do crunches with stomach fat it can actually push your stomach out more making you look fatter. On this diet, I lost 7 lbs the first week, then up to 30 lbs. I m still losing weight and im at 110 lbs right now.

I didnt know one day can make a difference? -

yesterday was the sadess day of my life. the day when i found out i may never see my friends again. i couldnt eat, i couldnt sleep, i couldnt do anything, but just mope around hating my life. recently, ive been exercising and eating healthy and trying desperately to drop 10 pounds in 2 weeks. well i got through one week and i barely lost anything, but yesterday, i just dropped 6 pounds like that. i can see my ribcage now. (yuck!) ever since i got sad like this yesterday, i lost all that weight. i wasnt fat before, i was just trying to tone up. is this something that can happen. can a one day depression make someone lose all this weight or did my weight loss program finally take effect?

It sound as though your weight loss program has taken effect. Although depression can lead to weight loss, I don t think that 1 day of feeling low will have caused your sudden loss. You weight fluctuates throughout the day but 6lbs is a lot for one day. My guess would be that your diet plan has taken effect. If you are still worried make an appointment to see the Doctor.

The dramatic changes r not possible but moods do affect ur eating habits.Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day.U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.

Most likely your exercise has taken effect. Depression is a hard thing to deal with but if you keep up the exercising it is one of the best ways to get through it.

this isn t healthy. it s okay to eat remember. I think you should try what you were doing last time. don t worry about how long it might take. you just don t want to see any more ribcages.

Motivation for healthy weight loss? -

Im 15 and up untill summer i was a competitive figure skater all my life. due to injury i had to quit. now i find myself with more free time and a lot less phisical activity. during the summer i was very healthy and lost 10 pounds. i felt great but with school stress ive lately ben turning to food as either comfort, boredom cure, or just because it taste good.ive been trying to slim down and get toned again for awhile but ill hav a good day then the next all ill do is eat. my biggest problem is portion control. no matter how hard i try, if i like it ill just want to have more.how can i stay motivated to excersice everyday and eat healthy. i would like to feel good about my body again but the thought of food usually wins me over.have u ever battled with wanting to look good against food temptations? any advice?

Everyone goes thru this.Don t give up,get busy and try to shake the over eating feeling.

Just think that sugar is poison so you wouldn t eat it!works for me!

Eat very little all day long and excersize, greens are the best, I munch on ice everytime I start to feel hungry, 9 times out of 10 Your bodys actually thirst rather than hungrt, also gatoraid and poweraid are great, no soda either

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. Will this diet plan work? -

Hi. I m 5 3 I weight 170 lbs. I designed my own weight loss program and I want to know if you think it will work. My plan is to drop 34lbs. in 17 weeks. (2lbs. per week.) I will eat a Carnation Instant Breakfast every morning (130 calories), For a snack I can have a piece of fruit (no more than 100 calories), for lunch any Leancuisine under 300 calories, for dinner anything on my 300 calories and under list (pretty extensive list filled with vegs. and lean meats). After work i will stretch for 30 minutes, do some exercises for 30 minutes (I have a sheet listing different ones like crunches and push ups etc.), then I will go and run 1 mile and a 1/2 mile cool down walk. Then I will stretch for 10 minutes. Do you think doing this plan will work? My fiance will be gone for boot camp and I want to impress him with the weight loss when he comes home. So I have plenty of motivation. Thanks for any input you can offer!

Sounds like a good plan....and you could probably use a variety of lunches though instead of all tv dinners...like healthy sandwiches
