How to lose weight fast on a veggie diet? -

Hi,I am a vegetarian trying to lose weight; and i m doing all the basics; eating healthier and trying to get exercise into my busy schedule. I need to speed up the process for a gathering, does anyone have any tips? Thanks

Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we ve known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one. In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy. Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies. Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day. Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body. Vary your routines. Don t eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn t adjust to any one routine. An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.Check out websites about nutrition, exercise, weight training, etc. Here are a few helpful links.http://www.nutrawatch.com/http://www.caloriesperhour.com/http://www.helpguide.org/life/healthy_eahttp://www.wikihow.com/Lose-Weight-the-Hhttp://weightloss.about.com/cs/fitness/ahttp://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/fe

Diet and exercise are the only ways to lose weight and to keep it off, any doctor will tell you this for free and they are not trying to sell you some fancy product or dangerous pill. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. The only way to lose a pound is to eliminate the 3,500 calories from your diet whether it be through exercising or consuming less. (eg. you cut 500 calories from your diet a day and you lose a pound in a week) Do some research on calorie counting, make sure you find out how many calories you need a day and your calorie deficit. This site will help you start and it will give you a rough idea of how long it will take. http://www.caloriecheckbook.com/self_***It is also very dangerous to consume less than 1,200 calories a day. Your body will go into starvation mode and it will actually store fat for energy. You will more than likely end up binge eating and gaining the weight back. There are no quick and easy ways to lose weight.

How to lose weight without compromising your everyday meals? -

Eat small meals (about the size of your fist), only when you re truly hungry. Eating five or six times a day is great.EAT SLOWLY. It takes your body at least 15 minutes to determine satiety.Drink a full glass of water fifteen minutes before any meal. Your hunger pangs may really be for water.Drink at least 8 or 10 glasses of water daily. Your body loses its ability to burn fat without enough water.Eat whole, healthy foods. Stay away from processed junk.Do not drink sodas.Exercise at least 30 minutes daily. Strength training is great by increasing your basal metabolic rate, because increased muscle mass burns more calories. While watching TV, use that time to stretch, or do some light calisthenics.

Exercise, especially some kind fo weight training. It works for most people (me included). I love food, and I try to eat really nutritious things most of the time, but food is a major joy in life. So, to keep my weight down, I exercise most days of the week. I have found that weights are much better for staying slim than just walking/cardio.

Burn more calories than you consume. Easier said than done, but that is what you have to do. Count calories, control portion size and exercise.

1. Don t clean your plate. Eat just enough to get you satiated, not full.2. Drink water before and during your meals.3. If you cook, lighten your meals. Cooking Light offers healthy recipe options for everyday favorites. http://www.CookingLight.com4. Snack on fruits and raw vegetables.5. ExerciseNone of the above will work if your everyday meals are fast food.

Cut about 300 calories a day and exercise for an hour a day. Remember you can exercise half an hour in the morning and half an hour at night. Then, you could loose some condiments if you want to loose even more weight. Then, watch less t.v. and go on the computer less. Do not eat out as much and don t eat fast food. Also try to eat organic and if you can t afford it all the time. Just buy organic foods whenever you can. I go to Whole Foods once in a while. Good luck on loosing the weight and remember to talk to your doctor or nutritionist about this.

i guess keep count of your calorie intake and exercise at least 3-5 times a week 30 min in the morning 30 min before bed time then again at some point of time you have to cut down on some of the unhealthy foods. also cardio is the best when trying to lose weight take a spin class and join a gym if you are not currently a member of one.

eat less and never eat after 7pm.

Check out www.dejellyyourbelly.com

just simple things are a start like if you are having fast food get water instead of coke and dont try and be good everyday have at least one day a week when you allow yourself to relax your diet not pig out tho! You dont have to compromise your meals just slowly adapt! and remember if you exercise the same way everyday your body adapts to it and it stops being effected so mix it up fit exercise into your life in a way that suits you!

Walk 1 hour a day you wont gain. If you cut back on calories walk you will lose.

my favorite way to diet, is to eat what ever i usually do, but only eat half..a sure way to lose, but still enjoy your favorite food..a calorie is a calorie, whether it is a carb, a fat or protein, if you eat less calories, you will lose weight, try it, it works

Balance diet.

Excersise!

I think I am HUGE and I need help. Pic included. -_-? -

I think I am very large for my height. Everyone keeps telling me I m thin (HAHA, what a joke) but when I look in the mirror, I just see rolls of fat bulging all over the place. Weight loss tips would be appreciated. I can t look pretty when I m so big.I am 5 5 and I weigh 128 pounds, and here is a pic: http://i28.tinypic.com/25ujl6u.jpgPlease be honest. =(PS - do you think 5 5 is short for a 19 yr old?

The pic that you show has you sporting a well defined waist and hips that looks pretty moderate. Just enough so you have a slight curve to them, but not enough that I think anyone would comment. Of course what you see in the mirror when you re naked might be a completely different story. You might be able to pinch an inch or half inch or whatever, but I m pretty sure it doesn t go beyond that. Here s some advice from an actual obese person; I m 24 and I weight well over 300 pounds. I m also 30 weeks pregnant right now so my stomach juts out even farther. Whenever I feel low or bad about myself I like to find pictures of people who are bigger than me. (And believe me, I ve found out there IS such a thing!)I take comfort in the fact that there is a level of fattness I will NEVER reach no matter how much I eat. ^_^ I wish I could send you a pic of myself so you can try the same exercise out, but I don t have a camera. I m also going to throw out here that you might have some sort of psychological thing going on here. It s natural to want to lose extra weight, but it sounds like you believe there s more fat on your body then there really is, and it s seriously affecting your life. Maybe talking to a couselor would help as well?As for your last question, I don t believe anything above 5 feet is short. I love to be around short people myself, one of my friends is 22 and just around 4 3 ! ^_^

im 20 and 5 4 and 135 and i love my body.. and even if you were odly short you couldnt do anything about it, dont be your own worse critic embrace who you are...and your not huge...i dont like how you said you cant be pretty when i m so big...that is not true there are alot of plus size women who are gorgey and there a ton of skinny girls who look so unhealthy and disgusting, its just that the media is brainwashing you to think you will only be pretty skinny...but your fine...why not just start running or doing some type of cardio..it will make you feel better and you will start to see a difference in yourself in about 2 weeks...good luck!!

You re not fat !You really are not so stop saying it because your just putting yourself down unnecessarily ! I d say you are between being thin and average :)And nooo 5 5 is not too short for a 19 year old.. my mum is like 46 and is only 5ft.. many many celebrities are a similiar height to yours or shorter.. victoria beckham and jennifer aniston are both 5 4 and look how successful and gorgeous they are !!! There is not correct height or weight for any particular age.. yes when you are a toddler they have to check your height and weight to make sure you re developing properly.. but ater your teenage years its not at all aproblem ! As long as you are healthy and happy that s all that is important ! So stop putting yourself down ok ? :) x

5 5 isnt too short its averageyour body is ok i think youre a bit like me your hips are a bit too big for your body..but you dont look awful i promise. For weight loss all i can say is eat healthily drink looooads of smoothies they fill you up..u can get lots of recipes on the internet.Hope i helpedGLx

Dont you dare even considering losing weight, there is nothing of you. You are nowere near obese or anything so you dont have to worry, you are H-E-A-L-T-H-Y. Please just listen to your friends.
