Is 30 minutes of exercise 5 days out the week good enough to lose weight fast? -

I m in college now and I m trying to schedule my hours to workout.

Sounds fine to me. The whole point is to exercise regularly, the time that you spend is almost irrelevant. By doing something positive each day, you will be rewarded!!!

Well, 30 minutes of exercise is a good amount at a gym or something, or really doing some cardio like running or walking briskly, etc. You should try to MOVE more in the day, take the stairs, park your car further away, stand up and walk around when you are on the phone, etc. Every little bit counts. However, don t forget that losing weight is pretty much 10% exercise and 90% diet. Trust me, I know that college can screw you over in that area, so you need to be conscious of what you put in your mouth. If you can, eat at your own place. Make chicken and veggies, or soup, or salad or any kinds of foods that are low in fat. Losing weight fast is not optimal at all. Losing weight at a rate of 1-2 lbs per week is ideal, healthy, and will help to ensure you don t gain the weight you lost back and then some.

To echo what s been said, losing weight quickly isn t a good way to keep it off. Ideally you should aim for only about 2 pounds of weight lost a week. Any more than this and your body might easily sink into starvation mode -- a state that happens if you consume too few calories for your activity level. Instead of burning more calories like you d expect, eating too few calories and exercising too much in crash-diet-style tricks your body into thinking that it doesn t have enough energy to work with. Your body suddenly reduces your resting metabolism rate, and you quit losing weight. The key to effective weight loss is to take it slow and steady, and to remember that losing weight is essentially the result of a mathematical equation: the only...ONLY...way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume over a given period of time. This means that it s hard for an outsider to judge whether or not your 30 min. 5 days/wk is enough to lose weight at a desireable pace. Let s say that you ll burn 200 calories for 1/2 hour of jogging on a treadmill. If you re binge drinking every night after class, or chowing down on pizza like its going out of style, it is reasonable to assume that it would not be enough activity for sizable weight loss...the calories that you consumed on any given day may easily be in excess of what you burned as energy. If, however, you kept your diet as balanced and healthy as possible while being sure to consume enough calories (often about 1200 for the average woman a day is the lowest you should go)...it would stand to reason that your workout routine might have the effects you want.Regardless of how quickly the weight drops, your exercise routine sounds like a great idea. Even if you don t lose the weight you want right away, you can be assured that you re doing your body good. Getting your heart pumping is good for your cardiac muscle. Just moving your body and/or strength training can build muscle mass...and muscle burns more calories than does the same amount of fat.Just make sure to keep your workout varied so as to prevent strain or injury, to encourage your body to become developed in a variety of ways, and to keep you from getting bored. Good luck!

Probably won t be fast but it will help. When trying to lose weight, it takes a combination of eating better (fruits, vegetables, healthy stuff) and exercise (strength training and cardio). the biggest mistake people make when trying to lose weight is not eating enough (they starve themselves) and not strength training.

add watching what you eat and yes it will workdrink lots of water, give up softdrinksyou could always exercise more, but if 30 mins 5X a week is the time you have, then just try to fit in little sneaky things during the day, like taking stairs, parking farther away and walking, etc. how overweight one is also has much control over how fast weight comes off

Yes...BUT you have to give 110% each and every minute of those 30 minutes! It is certainly do-able, but not with walking on a treadmill or cute little things like that. If you want to email me your goals, I can give you a good plan.I am also interested in your eating habits.

Don t worry about your weight worry about being healthy and balanced. Use your brain when you decide what to eat. Your in college so take every chance to walk places when it s safe.

NO, drinking water and milk will decrease the waist line and help curb the appetite. Also eating fiber will help drop waste weight and eating mostly protein will reduce how much you gain as well. Good luck!

Not at all...30 minutes will actually be enough only for cardio...you need at least 20 minutes doing some form of toning exercise...dont forget that abs are made in the kitchen,so watch your food intake too

It wont be FAST but its better than nothing. Make sure you eat as healthy as possible as well, if not your only maintaining weight and not losing.

yea, if you have a good diet, and walk it is.good luck!plz answer minehttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?

I know a vital chance. Consume definitely above 3-4 servings daily. Why? Visit this source.

You should up it to 45 mins-60 mins depending on how much you want to lose.?

losing weight is all about diet pretty much. change your diet and do the workout too.

it would depend upon your metabolism and your diet.
