How to lose weight through dieting? -

It s getting cold and I live in an apartment, I can t run outside because of the city and I can t use my old treadmill. Is dieting a good way to lose weight? What should I eat? How many times a day?

Yes you can lose weight from just dieting but you wont lose as much as quickly as you would with exercise as well. Recently I just started dieting and exercising and I ve lost a ton of weight! I eat about 1300 calories a day and It s not even that hard. The biggest thing I had to get over was munching when I wasnt even hungry!! I buy fat free yogurt which is like 90 calories. Its filling and it has protein in it too. I eat lots of fruits and veggies. I recently started incorporating beans into my diet. (ie. kidney beans) because they are high in fiber and protein and low in fat/calories. Also I cut out ALL other drinks except water and crystal light. SODA is baddd..even diet soda is bad. So no soda! I buy the reduced fat cheese-its for a snack and i mix them with pretzels because pretzels have less calories. So I proportion it in a small baggie so when its gone I dont reach for more! Also I try to eat slower because when I m done eating I feel fuller without going for seconds :-) This is getting long so I hope this helped!

well you can find somewhere to run (outside during the day with people, up/down stairs, indoor track, school, gym, etc.) stop making excuses and think outside the box.Running...how many competitive long distance runners have you seen with big thighs/hips or belly. You won t be able to do it very fast but if you get started now and push it you should be able to make a significant improvement by sometime in the fall. I would recommend starting with ~1 mile and work your way up (unless you re doing sprints or stairs). Also, don t forget you need a balance of proper nutrition, resistance and cardio excercise, and sometimes good supplements (ripped fuel or any thermognenic fat burner).- Jump rope (60s on, 30s off). Repeat 5-10 times. For thighs:- quads - do wall sits. Put your back against a wall and pretend you re sitting in a chair. Hold as long as you can. Back up, then repeat. - Butt/quads: do Lunges (no weights). Walk across the floor doing thigh bends (your knee should almost hit the ground). Go slow and concentrate- hamstrings - get an ab ball (can get for ~$10). lay on the ground and put your feet up on the ball (extended). With your butt off the ground use your hampstring muscles to pull the ball into your butt. Extend out and repeat- side jumps - get a step (or something similar). jump over it non-stop (side to side) for 60s, take a 30s break and repeat (4 times). - Also do inner/outer thigh machine or use resistance bands (get a trainer at the gym to show you). You can usually get a one time session for free and resistance bands don t cost that much (so you can buy some and do at home)- Eating and stomach (abs)You can (and should) eat 5-6 semi-small nutritious meals...speeds up your metabolism and prevents you from being too hungry. Don t load up with tons of food and don t cut your calories to bare mininum (1K) as this slows down your metabolism. You can try eating various things: fresh fruit, chicken, brown rice, broccoli, beef jerky, protein shake, applesauce (no sugar added), veggies, lean ground turkey, turkey sausages, Low sugar protein bars (or try Kashi bars). Oh, and substitute any junk food with Odwalla bars (the choco. chip ones are fabulous and have 8 grams of protein). (I m frugal too and can still find good, healthy food to eat)If you eat ~7 a.m. ~10 a.m. 1p.m. 4 p.m. 7p.m. (and 10 p.m. if you re up late you should be great. Get your excercise/workout in b/w any of those meals (or directly prior)You don t need many weights or machines. You can get one of those ab balls online or at a Target/Wal-mart for like $10-$15. Do abs using the ball...always works your core. Also get some resistance bands and you can work your legs (outer thighs) as well. Go for a run or do some sprints to get in better shape. Pick up some sports/activities with your friends.- Oblique exercises (twisting - works your love handles ). Do a lot of these using the ab ball: sit on the ball hold a 10 lb weight and walk your feet forward. Lay down and with the weigh above you twist to one side-up-pause-twist to the other side. Ensure you re using your obliques to do the work.- Start taking a thermogenic fat burner (will burn fat faster when your body temp rises - i.e. working out), ripped fuel, or hydroxycut hardcore before your workouts. Don t exceed the daily recommended allowance and drink plenty of water. You don t NEED these, they just help burn fat faster while providing energy. You could take a multi-vitamin instead (relatively cheap at Wal-mart)Hope that helps...you should start making significant progress (while eating real food) if you follow this advice and work hard. Remember...you need the resistance training so don t exclude it (do circuit training if you need to). Lots or reps at first...10-15 and increase the resistance as you get stronger. Also, some more info that may help you:- get rid of the junk food in your house (and don t buy anymore). If it s around (and you re like me) you ll eat it. The less crap you eat the less your body will crave it...the more sugar and stuff you do eat the more your body will crave it.- get rid of any fat clothes. Reward your new self when you get in good shape by buying new clothes. Buy a few items that are tight and/or body hugging. These will emphasize your nice shape, discourage you from expanding, and get quite expensive if you do expand - find a workout(s) that you enjoy and mix it up. Find workout partners and friends who like to be active. The more you like it (and do it with others), the more you ll want to stick with it- set goals, track the goals, and get an accountability partner for those goals. this will help keep the pressure on

How to lose weight and look cool? -

Im 13 and i weigh 179 and i really wanna lose wight so plz give me some tips, also wat do i wear to look cool. THX

Lose it slowly for now. At your age, most kids will think your gay if you want to lose weight. But, once your in high school, go crazy. Your metabolism will spike at that point in your life, making it easy. At around that age, people won t care if you lose weight. In fact, they ll probably compliment you. At that age, many people s bodies change. I went from obese to slim during my first two years of high school. No one really cared. I ve seen people go from chubby to riped during their first couple years of high school.

What I always did to lose weight for wrestling was run for about 40 minutes in the morning and then do another hard workout after school. This get your metabolism working faster than it normally would. Also, cut back on soda if you drink that, and kinds of empty calories like fast food or candy or chips all that junk just eat it sparingly. Eat healthy food like apples bananas, green veggies like spinach, and get some lean protein too. You don t need to do all of this religiously to lose some weight, but if you workout hard enough consistently the weight will come off. There was a kid who came out for wrestling and weight 320 pounds at the start of the season. By the end he was down to 285, so it really just takes hard work. As for what you should wear to look cool, sports jerseys every once in a while, some TapouT shirts, maybe some preppy clothes like Abercrombie every once in a while it s not that big of a deal what kind of clothes you wear though just wear what you think looks good and it ll be fine! Hope I could help

get in to a sport you would be interested in, i suggest powerlifting, i tried it when i was 12 and it will be my sport for life. there is another way that works fast to lose weight, heavy cardio work outs, if ya want to get crazy with it start limiting how much you eat and drink a day, you can cut lots of water weight by doing cardio, and spit alot too, hard candies like jolly ranchers help alot, i spit a pound off in a day, 12 lbs total that week i cut from water weight

well, one thing you could try, is to just eat less of what you DO eat, instead of eating different things. I have the same problem, except i m older (17) and weigh more, so if you find a program or something that works for you, if you would like to and if you wouldn t mind, you could email me or IM me. You can get my email address and IM name from my page.

swim....i have lost a good 12 punds in 3 months..best of luck..now i m just 147 and happy

How to lose weight consistently by summer? -

I am 19, 5 ft.3in. and weigh about 115 pounds. I have a minor gut, and i want to look toned for a summer vacation. I dont want to go on a strict diet, i just want an at home workout plan along with running and biking. any suggestions?

You really don t need to lose weight. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term though to your health and fitness. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one. In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy. Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies. Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day. Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body. Check out websites about nutrition, exercise, weight training, etc. Here are a few helpful links.http://www.nutrawatch.com/http://www.caloriesperhour.com/http://www.helpguide.org/life/healthy_eahttp://www.wikihow.com/Lose-Weight-the-Hhttp://weightloss.about.com/cs/fitness/ahttp://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/fe

Well, I ve lost 2 pounds this week. All I do is eat healthy andexercise. For breakfast, I eat egg-in-a-basket, toast, cottage cheese, oatmeal, cereal, or fruit. I eat about 300 calories for breakfast. For lunch, I buy from school, so I eat the healthiest thing there which is a chicken ceasar salad, but of course I eat it without the dressing. That s around 500 claories I m guessing? Since it has bread, chicken, and cheese in there. But I don t feel guilty because I have to have all food groups. After school, about 4 hours after lunch, I eat a kiwi/apple/banana, or some other fruits. EAt those in moderation too because each has around 100 calories. For dinner, I have whatever my mom makes in moderation. Today, she made soup with pickles, potatoes, and grain (yes, weird, but it was good), so I ate it and it was around 300 calories i m guessing. I also drink about 6 glasses of water a day, and run 1 1/2 miles, do 50 crunches, and 100 jumping jacks. Also, I don t eat any sweets at all. I hate soda, so that isn t a problem. Even diet soda might slow down your metabolism, so just drin kwater. And even the fruit juices aren t too healthy since they aren t all made form real oranges and contain sugar.

In response to Nessies answer--- wow. low fat diets suck.I ate prime rib for dinner with asparagus, broiled with strawberries in sugar free whipped cream for dessert. My breakfast was an omelet and my lunch was bbqed chicken and a salad...WITH dressing. Try a low carb diet. You will lose QUICKLY. I would suggest atkins.

just eat MORE healthy food. every couple hours eat something. particularly grains. keep snacks around. if you dont gain weight do not worry... seriously. almost every long lived person has been naturally underweight. you guys are actually the healthiest.

Proteins and Carbs my friend. Fats are very important as well, just avoid bad fats .

being thin or slim or underweight doesn t mean you are healthy. thin people might be not healthy - hi cholesterol level etc..if you are underweight, don t ever think that taking those unhealthy food will gain your weight. u need to find the way to decrease your metabolism rate. because it is the key for gaining or losing weight. try weight gain from appeton.

How to lose weight easy fast forever? -

I have trouble keeping the weight off. What are some easy fast exercise/diet tips you have. I would appreciate all the help I can get.

here you go, check out the mentioned blog, it has a link to a health fitness site that I ve gone through with a fine tooth comb and have gotten mind blowing results ;-)check out the Hook your fitness blogspot December 09 edition titled 7 secrets of permanent fat loss and fitness ;-)

1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes its hard, thats why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.Source(s):ok i didnt write this but i copied and pasted the words but i just put it in number order and made it easier to read.

I want to share with you 3 of my own personal tips for losing weight.Tip 1 - It s Not About ExerciseFinally studies are now showing that those on a diet who also do exercise to lose weight actually lose less than those who did not. What s the reason for that?We are led to believe that exercise is good for losing weight. But actually, most overweight people who do exercise will simply eat more to make up for the last calories. So exercise is not bad - just don t go overboard with it. With exercise, you might be able to help your weight loss a little but it is through food that you can make even greater losses.Tip 2 - My Portion Control MethodFirst of all I make sure to eat a very good and healthy meal in the morning. Do not skip breakfast or eat only something small.Personally I eat some pieces of fruit such as a couple of bananas. Then I have a couple of pieces of bread or toast with something on it. A small portion of smoothie is also really good. Then for the rest of the day, eat one cooked meal of a regular size. This will actually feed you twice - eat half straight away and then save the other half for later. With this method, even if you have too many snacks during the day then you will still just about lose some weight. If you keep discipline and don t junk on anything else then you ll start to lose between two and five pounds per week.Tip 3 - Changing Your Way Of LifeYou do have to make some permanent changes to your life. Look at your shopping basket and compare it to someone else s who looks thin. Now, I m not saying that you have to develop an interest in green vegetables (I hate them!). But there is an abundance of better tasting, healthier and less fattening foods out there so I suggest you experiment because you will enjoy it.

Losing weight and getting fitter is really quite simple. All you have to do is a few simple things. Firstly, clear your fridge of fatty junk foods. If theres no temptation, you cannot fall. Secondly, stock up on watermelon and other fruits. Watermelon is excellent because it clears out your digestive system of toxins and waste, leaving you feeling and being healthier. Next, begin exercising every day. Do not go too hard. If running, dont go fast or uphill, unless you want bulky muscle. A steady pace each day for a minimum of 30 minutes will allow you to shed fat and tone your body. Set a day each week when you each junk food, but try not to go overboard and ruin the work of every other day. Drink plenty of water, often when you think you are hungry, you are actually thirsty. If you are getting cravings, have a glass of water, wait 5 minutes, and then see if you still want food. This usually gets rid of those nasty afternoon hunger pangs for me!Good luck, and I hope you get the results you want!!

The fastest way is to fast and contrary to popular opinion you will not sacrifice your health, but most people won t believe this without reading up on it and doing some research first.Along with fasting or instead of fasting would be to get off the standard American diet and become a nutritarian.A nutritarian would be a person who eats a plant-based diet consisting of the most nutrient dense foods which happens to be from vegetables and fruit. This does not mean you can t eat animal based foods but you must severely limit them.To understand this fully please read over 300 customer reviews at Amazon for the book, Eat To Live by Joel Fuhrman, MD http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Live-RevolutioI have done this and found that I can stuff myself on the nutrient dense foods and still lose weight. Once you get to your target weight you continue with eating this healthy diet and you will not lose anymore weight and won t gain the weight back.Anther recommended book is Fasting and Eating For Health also by Dr. Fuhrman.Success storyhttp://www.drfuhrman.com/success/Success

hey... janet here.. hopefully my own personally story can be of some guidance/help to you..I m 5 8 and at the time I was about 220 lbs.. and was trying real hard to lose weight for almost 8 months... i just had a baby girl at the time.. and during my pregnancy i gained a tonnnn of weight and much of it stuck with me after she was born, and the hubby began getting on my case and bothering me non stop about my new weight problem... so after a few months of that, it really started getting to me, plus summer was about to get here- and i love the beach! So i decided to try and do something about it... ive since tried almost every diet system out there... the standard eat less-exercise more change lifestyle diet, south beach, atkins, slimfast, weight watchers, etc... I also tried taking many different weight loss supplements.. and overall nothing has really worked well for me.... But i came across this diet program http://www.fatloss.pcti-system.com .. which a couple of my girlfriends put me onto, and it worked amazing for me like nothing else has.Right now I m only 180 lbs.. I m still overweight but I ve already lost 40 pounds and I m well on my way to my goal of 160 lbs.. I hope i was of some help.. I wish you all the best of luck!

DRINK 8-10 GLASSES OF WATER EACH DAYDrinking water 8 to 10 times each day gets easier the more you actually do it. It is simply a matter of conditioning your taste buds, and yourself, so that it becomes easier to do. Once you get started, you will begin to crave water. To begin with, you should drink a glass of water in the morning first thing, before you eat. This is probably the easiest glass you will drink all day and it will help you remember to drink water all day long. Better yet, why not drink two glasses? If you really cannot bear the taste of water, try using a water purifying pitcher or filter. You can also add a few drops of lemon or lime to your water ?but no sugar or sweetener! Ice also helps.Check out flavored waters on the market, too. Just keep an eye out for additives.

theres no such thing as easy weight loss. keeping it off can become easy but lossing it is and always will be hard. i recommend as much cardio as you can handle and then some. also eat more frequently in smaller amounts, this speeds up you metabolism burning more fat. did i say CARDIO. drink a lot of water. other than that just eat what you know is healthy, don t over do it. good luck

East and forever is impossible. It is all about discipline really, and habit. Once you lose the initial weight, you just have to keep working unfortunately. And sadly, this is not easy. I don t think it ever is easy, but you have to weigh out your options to decide if it s worth it for you.

Once a week, indulge in a high-calorie-tasting, but low-calorie, treat. This should help keep you from feeling deprived and binging on higher-calorie foods. For instance: Lobster. Just 83 calories in 3 ounces.Smoked salmon. Just 66 calories in two ounces. Sprinkle with capers for an even more elegant treat.Whipped cream. Just 8 calories in one tablespoon. Drop a dollop over a bowl of fresh fruit for dessert.
