How to lose weight and keep it off if overweight? -

I weigh around 300 pounds @ 18 years old and am about 5 11. What would be the best way to lose weight and keep it off? I have tried to eat less during the day and do more exercise but that does not seem to do anything :(. How long do noticeable results usually take?

The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to have a simple, daily regimen. You can t expect miracles, and you have to stick with the program! All it really takes is strong will- power. You need to remind yourself that being overweight is unhealthy and can cause you to have a lot of problems throughout your lifetime. Eating the normal 5 times a day (3 big meals and 2 snacks), and exercising daily will definitely give you awesome results in the long run!

I used to be in your shoes so I know what it is like. The best advice I can give you is to join a gym and learn as much as you can about healthy eating. Don t be too hard on yourself and give yourself time to change. It s not easy but if you re determined and you work as hard as you can, you ll get there. If you can t join a gym, start eating smaller meals but more of them spread across the whole day. Use skim milk, no butter etc. Eat LOTS of veggies and make sure you eat good protein like lean chicken and fish. Don t always eat low fat treats as they are usually full of sugar. Try fruits and yogurt if you have a sweet tooth. Don t starve yourself, it ll only make it harder for you to lose weight in the long run.As for exercise... Try walking at a quick pace for half an hour and then work it up to an hour over time. You should be able to have a conversation at that pace but unable to sing. Cycling is really good too, great for burning fat. Good Luck!

The million dollar question. I have known a lot of people who battle with excess weight. Am not sure if that s the proper name for the kind of physician. In the first session, he examins you, taking into account your height, age, and body. He talks with you, getting to know your eating habits, what foods you like or dislike, getting to know your daily routine, can you cook every day, do you eat out a lot, etc.He then creates a unique menu for you with many many alternatives per meal based on what you enjoy eating, and what is convenient for you to prepare or find in a resteraunt. This is a costly procedure as you have to visit him every once in a while to see your progress. The visits are part of the program based on the psycological part of the diet. I ve paid money, if I break my diet it will all go to waste ..... I have to see him next week and he ll be disappointed if I haven t lost anything ... etc.However, I do know some people who went once, got the diet in their hands and never returned. They followed it properly and lost a lot of weight.My point is that everyone I know who did this kind of diet lost a lot of weight. As for regaining it, the same applies for any sucessfull diet.... eat like a poor man, live like a king. It takes time to reprogram your metabolism. You have to go on a no sugar, low carbohydrate diet. It will take at least 1 month before you start seeing some results. Do not try to reduce your intake extensively, just eat more vegetable and very small amount of oil. Be patient, it will happen. Do not lose more than 6-8 pounds a month. go to the gym alot or get a job in construction (i am 15 but i work with my uncle insulating houses and i was 180 pounds and after 2-3 weeks i now weigh 158 pounds (hard to believe but when you work you sweat and when you sweat you loos ssome weight) or there is a fun way to do it too lol get a nintendo wii and get wii fit (it works really good) i hope ive helped !! =) but try it

I do easy exercise s before i go to sleep. Eat more of what u can like more salad in a meal than something more fattening . If you want to keep of the weight your gunna have to have will power.... I need to tone my body and lose weight. It s really easy for me to lose weight in my stomach, but for some reason I can t seem to do anything for my arms and legs. What should I be doing? Which machines should I use to work out?

Cardio, 10% of weight loss goal. For weight gain. Tread mill inclined 15, speed walk up hill. Helps developed muscle along with keeping your heart strong.Number one problem with cardio I see people doing is the same thing over and over.You really need to change it up. Let say stay with one thing 1. Tread mill. For 3-6weeks. Start slow and progress. Don��t do everything you know in one work out. Don��t do tread mill, classes, bike, cross trainer, row all in the same day 3 time a week. You are going to run into a steep plateau. Stick to one or at the most two things no longer then an hour maybe 1.5 hrs. If you don��t feel like you are getting a work out in that amount of time you need to switch it up. For example look at the difference between a sprinter and a long distance runner. Most long distance runner a pretty fatty, there bodies have to rely on stored fat/energy. Don��t over do the cardio.3.) Supplements, I believe most weight loss supplement are placebos. As for weight gaining or supplements to supplement meals.Let say you need to get 6 meals a day. Break fast, lunch, dinner, (3). Now you need 3 other meals Fruit. Apple, Bar with 200c or so.Or a shake. Juice it up make shakes from 200c to 1000c. Unless you are a body builder or have some kind of medical issue, stick to trying to understand your natural foods and tracking calories. Women, women, women. ? You need to do this. Every lbs of muscle you have on your body on an ave burns about 10-15c per day extra. Fat doesn��t burn Cal. Once you are lean it is easier to stay lean. This is would take to long to explain, but here is something to think about.When you work out your (1) (Back) a primary muscle, you are also working out your (biceps) secondary muscle. Last but not least you don��t want to look like those people with chicken legs (3) Legs. I also like to do abs (core) everyday. There is 3 days of working out. Now don��t forget to switch it up in about 2-3 months you don��t want to plateau.5.) Personal Trainer. They are great; make sure that they are certified. I recommend by NASM.First get your endurance up. Then have them show you how to use the machines. Ect.If you have the money, it is highly recommended. They will get you to your goal quicker.I would recommend 3x a week for 6 months. They ave about $50 per session. A simple plan would be to eat sensibly (the food pyramid), and to get 30 minutes of exercise, 3 times a week. If she s not very active now, this might be 30 minutes of intentional walking. Or, 2 15-minute sessions if she can t schedule time.As for food, right now, she should concentrate on getting a healthy well-balanced diet together. Cutting calories may have her lose weight, but for now, just eating a balanced diet may reduce the calories she s ingesting. You don t want to reduce too quickly too soon, as the body will be resistant to too much change.If you want to be a positive force of change, why don t you ask her to exercise with you. This can be a game of tennis, a walk in the park, ice skating, anything that gets you out and moving.Good luck!

try to avoid eating out of boredom, do stress release activities like reading or exercising (or a step down, playing Wii Sports, which actually does help loose weight)

Start by eating healthy meals and snacks. 3 meals, and 3 snacks each day - it helps get the metabolism going. Snacks like fruit, veggies not chips and candy! Go for walks with her or for a bike ride. Take up roller blading. Every little bit helps. Toss all the junk food out so she s not tempted and replace it with healthy stuff. Good Luck!

Unfortunately, you cant spot reduce any part of your bdoy. For example if you want a flatter tummy and you do sit ups, its not going to work. You need to get rid if the layer of fat ontop first to be able to see muscle. And getting rid of the fat is quite challenging enough. Cardio is the best option for losing fat. Low intensity cardio that is. High intensity cardio causes you to gain muscle therefore making you either bigger or the same (due to the muscle, as muscle bulges out quite easily). It also makes you weigh more as muscle weighs more than fat. Low intensity cardio however (walking is probably the best one I can think of) burns calories without getting to hardcore muscles. It might tone you up a little bit but not as much as high intensity stuff like jogging, running or cycling. Eating or drinking a particular thing wont help you slim down. it depends all on your overall intake. The reasons why people recommend to drink lots of water on diets are..- To keep hydrated because usually dieters incorporate exercise in their daily regime.- To keep hydrated even without exercise, as 70% of our body is made up of water. - To clear out our system. Make sure you stretch before and after you run. Remember, you must gain muscle before losing weight. By the way, doing a 10-15min workout straight out of bed in the morning will help. take it slowly...if you rush, your skin might hang loose.. i would suggest that you lessen your intake in carbohydrates(rice,potatoes,etc)and increase your fiber intake. drinking a lot of water can only clean your system but it does help in some point or another..

I know that fibre in your diet can help prevent fat storage. Im not sure where i heard it from but its a known fact. It says that fat clings onto fibre and because fibre is not absorbed into the body, it is flushed out of the body along with the fat.

reduce carbs and salt in the diet finish dinner by 7pm. no salt after dinner. do more cardio/ and also weights they will help the body tonned.

It may sound weird but to loose weight you must gain muscle and eat a well balanced diet. There is one exercises that will target every muscle you have mentioned. Push-ups. I know they are hated but they are one of the best exercises you can do. Every muscle in your body should be engaged when doing them. Here is how. If at all possible, do them military style. Keep your butt sucked in as well as your stomach. Keep your back straight and do not hunch. Pull your elbows in as much as possible, and push up... let yourself down slowly. Do not let your body relax on the floor, your nose should just graze the floor. Do this till total exhaustion. Wait 30sec to 1min and go again. Do this several times every day. Promise it works...
