How many calories do you need to eat to lose 2-3 pounds a week? -

I m on a diet, and I figure around 1000 and 45 mins exercise three times a week at a gym is ok... what do you think? also, do you have any good weight loss tips?

A pound of fat contains 3200 calories. 2 pounds would be 6400 three pounds would be 9600.Note that you ll commonly see a notation of 3500 calories per pound rather than the 3200 that I list. However, if you read the lable on a package of butter, cooking oil, lard, or any other 100% fat in the store, every last one of them calculates 3200 calories per pound. The number of calories that you consume per day depends on your weight (the more weight you carry around, the more calories you burn) and the amount of exercise you perform. If you are not very active, you might only burn 1500 calories per day. If you are quite active, it might be 2500 per day. If you only burn 1500 calories per day, then you would only be able to eat 1500 X 7 = 10500 calories per week to maintain your current weight. If you want to lose 3 pounds per week, then you can only eat 10500 - 9600 = 900 calories in an entire week. That s only 8.6% of your current intake. However if you burn 2000 calories per day you re willing to settle for a 2 pound weight loss per week, then the math is 2000 X 7 = 14000to maintain your weight 14000 - 6400 = 7600 calories per week (that s 1085 calories per day). You can see that a bit of exercise a reasonable weight loss target will be easier to achieve than an aggressive weight loss target with little exercise. good luck

no never go below 1200 caloriesif you only eat 1000 calories and exercise your going to feel really tired throughout the dayeating 1200 calories and working out 4-5x per week will increase your energy and help you lose more weight

try the sacred heart diet!!!!!!!! and yes you can lose weight with what you are doing

for every pound you want to lose burn 3500 more calories than you consume.

Losing Weight (I know, too often of a question... but I need help)? -

So, I m 5 3 and I weigh 145-150. Yeah, you could say I m overweight. I just want to be healthy and fit as a fiddle for the beginning of the school year (I m going to be a senior!!!), so does anyone have some weight-loss tips? I m not looking for the magical answer, and I know its not going to instantly drop off after I read your replies. I ve tried a lot of things, and I just want to hear your input.

I used to weigh 150 and now I weigh 130. Which is an ideal weight for me. hopefully this could help you get to your ideal weight.First of all, to lose weight, you gotta start eating right, meaning no more fast food. This doesn t mean you have to starv yourself. Just eat healthy foods with healthhy fats. Soo you started eating right, your on the track, now what. Well you gotta get some exercise. I go to the gym. But there are soooo many things you could do at your home. I worked out at home until i was able to go to the gym. Sooo try and get exercise everyday or every other day. Soo your on your way to fitting in those jeans. A fun way to lose weight is... Play a sport! Join a team in high school. Its aa way for you to have fun and burn those calories! thats how I lost my exta weight. It will work best when you eat right and play or do a sport. If you hate working out, sports are the best. Hope I helped! hahaha

For exercise, start with walking. You should do this 3 days a week, starting at 20 minutes and working to longer spans once your body starts getting used to it. You might also try swimming aerobics (or just swimming if you re not into that) or Tai Chi. It s also possible for you to use resistance training starting out, with a latex exercise band - just make sure follow the instructions cause it kinda hurts when they snap you in the face.A normal-sized meal paired with exercise should be about 6 oz. meat, 2 cups vegetables and maybe 1 1/2 cups of starch. I would reccommend cutting out liquid calories and making sure to only eat about a cup of things like cereal or oatmeal. Start reading nutrition facts and see the amount of calories really going in your body - sometimes it can surprise you - you should be trying for about a 2,000 or less calorie intake a day. It s okay if you can t do it right away, changing your routines do take time, and it s okay to eat snacks - but read the calories and serving size first, and stay limited to two snacks a day.Hope this helps! Good luck. :)

Has anyone got any weight loss tips? -

Hi I am trying to loss weight and wonderd if there is anything people have tryed that has worked, i am not on a calorie controlled diet cutting all bad foods out of my diet, any help would be great.

Eat less calories, do more exercise. QED.(quod erat demonstrandum)

I don t believe there are any bad foods - it all depends on how much of them you eat and getting a good balance of carbs, proteins, nutrients, vitamins and minerals to stay healthy. If you lose weight too quickly you will not be able to keep it off and are more likely to put it all back on again, plus some.It is better to lose weight in a healthy, natural way.By simply making some changes to your diet you can lose weight easily.Eat little and often to boost your metabolism which helps to burn the fat.Eat plenty of fruits and veggies - they provide essential vitamins and nutrients and help you feel full for longer.Drink at least 8 glasses of water to help flush out all the toxins - it also makes your skin look and feel so much softer - a great bonus!Choose low fat and/or low cal options but be careful of the sugar content in products.Eat less and do more activity.

The theory of body weight is simple. If you eat more calories that your body needs you store the calories as fat. If you eat less than you need, your body uses stored fat and you lose weight. You can increase the calories your body needs by taking more exercise. As far as weight loss goes, it doesn t matter what form the calories come in. Healthy eating is something different altogether- the adult human body needs vitamins and minerals, protein, fibre and carbohydrates (very little fat) We know people are healthier if they eat non-refined food, low sugar, low fat diets, lots of fruit and vegtables... BUT losing weight still depends on eating less calories than your body needs.

Here s what has worked for me. I stopped keeping junk food snacks in my house so i am not so tempted to nibble. Now I keep healthier choices like fresh fruit, vegetables, and fat free yogurt and cottage cheese. I wait until my body tells me it is hungry before I eat. Sometimes this means sort of skipping meals sometimes. I do still eat, but I wait until later when I am hungry instead of eating just because it is time to eat . I try to eat more slowly too. Since I spend less money on junk food I spend it on higher quality food. For example fillet mignon is a really good lean cut and I can afford it now since I drink water instead of soda and don t eat potato chips. I eat mostly fish and chicken. I trim the fat off of beef and pork when I do eat it and prefer to broil it instead of frying. When I do need a little oil for cooking I use olive oil. I buy bottled water by the case and keep single serving packets (Crystal Light is one brand) around so it still has flavor. If I really want some ice cream or chocolate I go get some, but I walk to the store and get the smallest package possible so I can eat the whole thing if I want. This keeps me from feeling guilty or deprived. For a while I had a gym membership and that was really helpful. My boyfriend and I went together and it helped me on days I really didn t feel motivated. Anyone can be your workout partner so find any friend who wants to loose weight or just get more healthy and go get signed up together. I know going to the gym can be intimidating at first, but most of the other people there are actually there for the same reasons you are. I was a little suprised how few muscled up men and buff babes were there. Once I got in the habit of going it wasn t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Since I moved I don t have a gym here yet, so I just walk as much as I can and always take the stairs. I hope this helps you. I have already lost over 50 pounds from all of this and have been keeping it off, even without my gym membership now.

A pound of fat is worth 3500 calories. Use this calorie calculatorhttp://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/bto determin how many calories you should have a day. Cut those calories by 500 a day and your body will burn 1 pound a week.Dont go under 1000 calories a day or your body will go into starvation mode and keep everything. You also wont be getting the nutrients that you need. You ve got to cut out sugar along with counting calores. The body burns sugar bofore it burns fat. This is why people go on diets, watch what they eat and don t loose weight. They still have that sugar in them that the body burns instead of fat.It s almost impossible to cut out all sugar, but keep an eye on what your eating. My rule of thumb is...Eat a low calorie, low sugar meal or snack every 2 hours to keep the motabilism burning fat. I have lost 40 pounds in 5 months.I just saw someone mention Weight Watchers. It is a good program. The most important thing they teach you is what to eat and what not to. After you loose the weight, you still have to know how to eat health and weight watchers is good for that.Good luck

The word diet is depressing because none of like to be restricted from things we enjoy. Diet relates to punishment. So, I think the best thing is to first remove the word diet from your agenda. Next, eat anything you care to but simply eat half of what you normally eat. Eat at regular intervals and when you are in the mood to snack, substitute that urge with some sit ups or push ups and then a glass of water. Make it fun. Good Luck

Actually, you don t need to diet in fact if you want to lose weight, I discovered this at the web resource in the box below, they have a lot of tips and tricks, I worked off 10 pounds by following their techniques.

Eat when you are hungry, stop when you are fullDrink plenty of waterReplace bad snacks with good snacks i.e. fruit / yoghurts etc.Don t deny yourself little treats (as long as they are little)Run / Swim / Walk / Workout DVD - 3 x a week minDon t fad diet just change your lifestyle for good and you will see and keep the results.

I lost 40 pounds with Weight Watchers. It s been a year and I ve been able to keep it off. I really like this program because they teach you how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, its not just a short-term diet. Good luck with your weight loss!

What I am doing is that I am eating salads at lunch during the week instead of hot lunches at my school. Have no dessert at home and at school I only have a hot meal and dessert once a week.

I need to lose a significant amount of weight... any ideas? -

Well, I have been doing really really good the last two months since I decided to do this for real and forever. My diet has been amazing. I have heard that you need to eat like 5 times a day, and I could never do that. Is that just a hype? I usually will eat once or twice a day, meal wise. Like If I m up early enough to have breakfast, I ll have two pieces of toast and chocolate milk(skim :D) btw, I have always drank skim milk since I was probably 2. Back on subject, for lunch/dinner I like to wait till around 6 ish, I ll have maybe a salad or sandwich, today I had grilled chicken and broccoli with potatoes, sometimes if I eat earlier at night I ll put special K chocolate (120 calories) in a bag and drink it with a few water bottles. All I drink is water and sometimes milk. I never have been a big soda person, and the only time I ever would have pop is if we went out to lunch. Blah blah blah. As you can see I love vegetables, I love healthier foods, now, you couldn t force me to eat high calorie packaged processed **** in a bag. Anyways now that I have done that and followed through with it amazingly (it was so effin simple, all I needed was the resources) I need to find a good exercise program that works for me. BTW, a lot of the times the only reason I ate unhealthy was because it was so much cheaper, but in reality your health is worth so much more. back on subject, I need any health tips, any proven weight loss tips, any exercise tips and suggestions as possible, have you way with it and go crazy, I m up for anything that won t kill me. For example, I heard on a BBC documentary that two separate group were fed the exact same meal, except one was blended into a think soup, the one who s were blended stayed fuller, longer. Also If you skip breakfast or any meal when you are hungry (don t just eat because a clock says its time, thats what I used to do, listen to your stomach not the part in your brain that says mmm cookies) there is a part of your brain that triggers and wants you to eat high calorie foods. I saw a study on it, anyone who wants to check it out, download 10 things you need to know about losing weight from the BBC. Anyways, I m gonna shutup now and let you guys talk.

For any ideas besides a diet, get a personal trainer at your local gym. My step mom got one to lose about a 100 pounds and if you stay committed you can lose about 100 pounds in about 2 to 3 months. But you have to go a least once a day. If you can t then when you do go you have to work that much harder.

i m 5 4 i use to weigh160 i started my diet jun 1st.Started using HerbaLife i would go to a HerbaLife place and pay 3 dollar everyday.I would drink :i only use it mornings1.aloe drink concentrade mixed with water 2. hot tea. They have diffrent flavores (increased energy and Metabolim)*3.Health Meal Nutricion shake mix (for Healthy Nutricion weight management) mixed with Personalized Protein Powder (for increased hunger control energy)June 10TH WEIGHT 155LBJune 21st WEIGHT 151LBJuly 1st WEIGHT 148LBJuly 5th WEIGHT 144LBJULY 30 WEIGHT 139LBIm not sure exactly when i decided on buying the product i think it was aroun july 1st but i just got the tea, shake and protein powder.I havent got any new clothes jean but i need new clothes bad.I just got me like 10 shirts. The weight lost is very noticeable!!!All you have to do is want Believe in you self and dont let no one put you down.Dont drink no soda or juices.stay away from fast food.try and put all you meats in the over or grill.drink lots and lots and lots of WATER very important!!!!good luck with anything you doif you have any questions w/b

You should be eating 6-7 meals a day, it s not hype. That keeps your metabolism going all day long, helps keep you from feeling hungry all the time which helps with binges. The 6-7 meals though are smaller portions. Planning your weekly meals out ahead of time really helps a lot as well as you can fit in some of the foods you love and miss as rewards to yourself. I ve lost 60 pounds so far this year doing this sort of thing. The site I ve been using to help me is located at this link if anyone s interested http://bit.ly/wNvTb
