Question about dieting? -

I weigh 160 lbs. and I want to lose weight to be healthier. I was on an extreme diet of only 500 calories a day, but after becoming educated, I realized how unhealthy that is. However, what if I gradually increased my caloric intake so I can lose weight quickly but still not have the yo-yo effect, for example, increasing to 750 calories (with exercise) until I lose another 10 lbs., then increasing to 1,000 calories (with exercise) until I lose another 10 lbs., then eating 1,500 calories? Will this still cause the yo-yo effect? And if this is still unhealthy, how can I increase my caloric intake to a healthy level but still not gain weight? I m receiving a lot of mixed messages, for example, that the only reason the yo-yo effect takes place is because people very quickly increase their calories, but then some say that you will gain weight no matter what blah blah blah.

Just eat small amount of meals at regular intervals that is 3 times a day ..no restriction for food which ever is ur favorite eat it...and drink lot of water ..walk whenever you get time...trust me it will help a lot..

How are anorexics able to not eat for so long? -

Well a year ago I wanted to lose weight quickly and I (foolishly) tried to stop eating for at least 2 weeks...but I only lasted 2 days. The first day wasn t hard, but the second day I woke up feeling VERY weak and really ill. I could barely walk or move my arms...actually I could barely stand up without fidgeting or almost falling. It s kind of the feeling where your blood pressure is low and you feel weightless and weak. To sum it up, It just felt terrible! I learned from my mistake and lost weight gradually the healthy way, but I was wondering if people who suffer from anorexia feel the same way so quickly or was it just me (I know that I m not exaggerating).

I had anorexia for two years. Before it I was a long distance runner and did a lot of weight lifting throughout my teeneage years, so my metabolism was pretty fast. The first couple days for me I was very tired as well, just wanted to sleep all day. It made me depressed, I had headaches and was irritable all the time. After another week I was so weak that I got out of breath just turning over in bed. I couldnt make my bed every day cause my comforter was to heavy to pull across. As for not eating. My stomach shrank, my metabolism was off so I never felt hunger. I would eat everyday. 1/2 cup oatmeal for breakfast, broccoli for lunch, baby carrots for snack and cauliflower for dinner. But I wouldn t even eat much, like a handful and I would be so full..even though I wasn t. I remember when I was trying to recover, I was at the gym and was doing push ups. I couldn t do one, it felt like my rib cage was going to break. It is an addicting disease. I never planned on having it but it became an obsession. Obsession with having control. Im glad you learned from your mistake. Eat healthy and stay active,. Thats what our bodies are meant for. Good luck and keep staying healthy and strong

Anorexics do eat. They just don t eat enough. If you d really gone 2 weeks without eating anything, you could have died. The body requires food. Anorexics have just figured out the absolute minimum to consume. It kills the body a little more slowly.

i know i tried that too but i didn t even last 2 hours before i had a donut in my hand and i was like oh **** i forgot. seriously i eat too much. but maybe they have friends that don t eat with them so they encourage each other to not eat. thats what it seems like ive never seen an anorexic girl by herself their always in a group. hehe :)

i think it s after the first couple of days things start to get easier and your appitite decreases. i dont know, maybe they wait a few days feeling hungry then things get easier? ha, i m the same as malerie!

They do it because it s a mental disorder like depression, it s like saying how does someone with depression stay sad for so long, they can t help it.

They are obsessed and don t care about anyone else or anything else so they just stay in bed all day. Their quality of life is terrible, it s a mental illness.

it is as desis in ther head with mackes them think they are fat even thow they arnt

we just dont. I m anorexic. We just think we dont deserve it.im 76 pounds

well my friend when she was in 6th grade (i know 6th grade) she was anorexic. she was my best friend! i didnt know what to do and she was telling me that she thought she was fat and she wasnt at all but she told me i wouldnt know how she felt untill i tried it so when my mom went to asia for 2 weeks i stayed with her. i was anorexic pretty much that whole time and the thing was if i didnt think about eating i wasnt hungry but after a few days yah i felt the way you did and then i fainted in class and i was rushed to the hospital. after that my best friend stopped doing it and everything was fine but yah i felt the way you did. but maybe the reason you felt so bad so quickly was because you dont have a good blood flow or a good immune system and if you have no food going into the systems and they arent good then that can cause sickness easier and faster. ok. hope i helped!

I think that the majority of people who try and go anorexic just decrease their apitite gradually. They eat little bits and then slow down to nothing. Most of them are also rather large and lacking self confidence so they are desperate and unhealthy annyway. Or they are rele tiny and think that they are fat and they weight 89 pounds but if a larger person trys to be anorexic it is easier i would think because your body stores fat naturally and the more fat you have the more your body can live off of yourself because without all the calories in your body for energy you have to get some form of energy which is sucked out of the fat in a persons body. so the average obese / unhealthily large person can live off of their body fat for right around 3 weeks. and the larger the person the longer you can actually go without eating. Hints... i think that you should try to decrease your appitite gradually and work out and that would do wonders. Also if you just think that there is always going to be someone out there that is bigger than you.

What weight loss program helps you detoxify and loss weight at a good rate? -

I want to detoxify my body and loss weight healthily and rapidly. I want to lose 90 lbs by the end of the year.

I did fatloss4idiots diet plan and I lost about 50 pounds in not even 3 months. And I ve kept it off for almost 2 years now. I found it to be the easiest diet because it pretty much told you what you could and couldn t eat and you didn t have to count points or anything like that. What I lost really isn t typical for the amount of time I did it but I know others who have done it and they got really good results from it as well.http://beam.to/revealweightlossfact

I lost 74 pounds in 5 months using the Take Shape for Life program and i have maintained it now for four years. Now I help others do the same thing. This is the best weight loss program I have found and the simplest. boiseidahoweightloss.com Report Abuse

the body is always toxic and will always be toxic.that s the job of the liver and kidneys to help get rid of toxic material on a daily basis.you can help the internal organs by not eating and drinking food and drinks that make them work harder. a diet that is mostly vegetarian(beans, grains which includes bread, vegis and fruit) and less from dairy(keep it low or no fat dairy), and small servings of meat, fish and poultry.and lots of wateryou aren t going to lose 90lbs by yrs. end in any healthy way unless you are planning on doing alot of exercise too. and probably no more than 1800cals a day, on average, max.

If you are serious about healthy eating, fat loss, and body tone up, I have a program that I made for my best friend to get her ready for her wedding. It is a 4 months program that will give you the body of a fitness model. If interested send me and email to crazyeddie8228@yahoo.com and I will reply with the program. It is free. The program is recycleable so in 8 months you should reach your goal or at leat be close to that in a healthy way.

Any suggestions about my obsession with weight loss? -

I am currently about 100 lbs overweight and constantly obsess about my body. I hate for my husband to see other women on tv, magazienes, etc...that are sexy. I think how can I be sexy to him after him looking at those truly sexy women ? I have tried all different types of weight loss programs but can t seem to stick to any of them! Help please!

It is a vicious circle. You feel bad about yourself, inadequate about your appeal with regards to your husband, so you eat to feel better. You feel bad about eating, look at the women on tv, wonder why you don t look like that, and eat some more. You then gain more weight, and it all begins again.Just for your information, the women on tv that you say are so sexy, they represent a very small portion of society as a whole. The average woman wears a size 14. These women on tv also deal with anorexia, bulimia, and drug abuse in some cases. I don t think you should worry too much about how you look, you are obviously the one he loves, or he wouldn t have married you in the first place. Just try and relax about it, don t obsess about it and try and eat a little more healthily. Do not diet, it will set you up for failure and make you feel worse about yourself.Be kind to yourself.....

I used to feel the way you re feeling. I can t even begin to tell you how many times I attempted to lose weight and failed...over and over again. I finally did it though. I lost 105 lbs in just over four years. I deliberately lost only 1-2 lbs a week. And I haven t regained one pound in almost four years. The key though is I did it for myself. You said like you just want to look sexy for your husband. You ll never be successful if you approach your weight loss from that angle. If you do it solely for your husband, what if your marriage ends? There goes your motivation. Do it for YOU and you only. Sure, every woman wants to feel sexy to her husband, that s natural. But, in the core of YOU, not dependant on what your husband thinks, or what your whatever thinks, the core of you has to want to do this just for you. When you get that straight in your head, almost any (logical) weight loss plan will work because you will be ready for it to work. I used Weight Watchers, but there are alot of other great plans out there too. You know, I read a quote by Cindy Crawford in a magazine years ago that really opened my eyes to this whole beauty thing. She said, ...when I wake up in the morning, even I don t look like Cindy Crawford!! Think about that. You can do this. Believe me, if I could do this, Miss Weight Loss Failure Over and Over Again, ANYONE can! I really mean that. There are wonderful books on the market about the mental aspects of weight loss. Read some of them. Once you get your weight loss head on straight, there will be no stopping you. I wish you every success.

Many of us use food to hurt ouselves. It feeds our low self esteem. My advice is to throw out your scale, and just be good to your body. Your weight will find it s own balance and you ll feel better about yourself.

try to start to eat healthy, like cut down on the sweets and excersise. the endorphins will help u feel happyer and they will slim u down. if u r over obsesing talk to some1 u trust or see a therapist. get some1 close to u to give u a compliment everyday on how u look. think of the posotive things in life and how u look. wear cloths that make u feel better. every little bit helps. and next time ur reading those mags. and ur watchign shows on MTV and VH1 that have those skinny little rich girls, remember-thats not real. its better to have curves [there prettyer then bones...trust me]

becaue mayb ur husband enjoys ur curves taht not strange alot guys find havin curves alot sxyeir... curves is the true sxy as being stick thin or even quite thin isn t relli sxy as thats nor femine ahfl thouse ***/abbs could b guys.... and i doupt ur man is gay.. but all guys liek difrent things.... althou alot guys eshealiy younger 1s r brainwashed by the media in 2 havin a very small idea of what is sexy but this is not da case (and incase u wonderin im 16 :p)

I am with you, I obsess about my body, even though 70% of me is happy with it. My boyfriend is happy with it as well. I only want to be able to buy clothes at a normal store and not Lane Bryant for the rest of my life. I m in a size 18 now, and seriously wish I could find the answer. I have thought about the lap band surgery- would this be an option for you?

I go the the gym at least 3-4 times a week and loose about 1-4 pounds in about a 2-3 weeks. And not eat as much as i used to. If you don t have a gym pass you could just walk around the neighborhood for a while.
