Calorie Conundrum? -

Alrighty haha, so some basics: I am 17 years old, male, weigh 149 pounds, 5 8 Haha, so my question is, if my daily workout/cardio routine burns anywhere from 500 to 800 calories, how many calories should I consume per day for a healthy weight loss? = )

You must burn more calories than you consume (caloric deficit over time) in order to lose weight and burn body fat. This is the law of thermodynamics. Even if you are a workout warrior, the law of thermodynamics still apply. You cannot eat as much as you want (or maintain a caloric surplus) and still lose weight. Again, you must maintain a caloric deficit over time in order to lose weight. Here is an example: 1) your daily maintenance calories are 2000 (your basal metabolic rate), 2) your caloric intake on day 1 is 2000 and 3) your caloric intake on day 2 is 2500. Over a two day period, you have not achieved a caloric deficit. Instead, you are in caloric balance. You will not lose weight over the two day period. You can expand this example to one week, one month, etc. To lose weight, you must be consistent with your eating patterns and maintain your caloric deficit. If you exercise regularly, it will be easier for you to maintain your caloric deficit.

You need a mininim of 1600 since your a male to survive and 800 calories you need to replace because you burned them. That equals about 2400 calories to keep your weight, now deduct 500 calories from that and that is the amount you need to lose weight. So about 1900 calories.

Lets put it straight. Losing weight is not that hard, You will never hear me say that it is. All it takes is dedication, motivation and hard work. There are some fairly simple changes that will greatly improve !--your chances of weight loss success. The key is to dedicate yourself to these changes and do them consistently. If you re serious about changing your lifestyle, these steps will get you there. Visit here to loss your weight,http://weightlosspro.awardspace.com/The best, most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is to simply eat right and exercise. Good diet, minimize saturated fat, use monounsaturated fat. Always check in gradients of everything you are buying-- Relaxation, stress and strain never allow people to be slim.Exercise, for 30 minutes fast walking or jogging.Do not use any medication. I do not think any one is scientific. All the best. And ya, do not forget to eat 5 fruits per day and green leafy vegetables!

Are frozen juice concentrates healthy? -

i really like buying the frozen juice concentartes but am unsure if they are healthy for you or not...please help? is there a lot of sugar in them and are they good on a weight loss program?

Not very healthy. They re better than soda but too high in sugar. For maximum health (and weight loss), eat a modest amount of whole fruit. The pulp furnishes fiber and slows the absorption of sugar.

What You Need to Know About Caralluma FimbriataCaralluma fimbriata is a succulent plant, in the cactus family, that has been used as a natural appetite suppressant in India for centuries. It s a new arrival in the family of cactii and succulent plants that are becoming increasingly popular for their appetite suppressant, and weight loss properties, as well as their ability to lower blood sugar. Supplements made from the popular hoodia gordonii cactus from the Kalahari Desert in Africa, are, for example, growing in popularity and usage in the U.S. and Europe.Like hoodia, caralluma fimbriata has been used to suppress appetite, and as a portable food for hunting. It is used to suppress hunger and appetite, and enhance endurance throughout India. It is also sometimes considered a famine food, used during periods of famine to suppress appetite. For centuries, people in rural areas of India have eaten Caralluma fimbriata, which grows wild over various parts of the country. Caralluma fimbriata is cooked as a vegetable, used in preserves like chutneys and pickles, or eaten raw. Caralluma fimbriata is believed to block the activity of several enzymes, which then blocks the formation of fat, forcing fat reserves to be burned. Caralluma fimbriata is also believed to have an effect on the appetite control mechanism of the brain. Ayurvedic (traditional Indian medicine) experts have noted that there are no adverse effects when using Caralluma fimbriata, and the plant has no known toxicity. A patented, tested extract of Caralluma fimbriata has been developed and standardized by a company called Gencor. Known as Slimaluma, the extract delivers the plant in a concentrated form. One of the only products available in the U.S. that uses the Slimaluma formula is Country Life s GenaSlim supplement, which combines the patented Slimaluma extract of Caralluma fimbriata with EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) from green tea. Together they reportedly have a synergistic effect on appetite control and weight loss. In several clinical trials Slimaluma was shown to be effective in reducing body fat through appetite control. If you re interested in trying this product for weight control, you can compare prices now from various online vendors.SourcesKhan B, et. al. frozen juices from concentrate are very high in sugar. Same for most of the juice you find on the shelves of your grocery store. It s sad, but true. Still, better than soda.

lots of sugar and not good for a weight loss plan. if you really want healthy, get a juicer and make your own juice w/fruits low in natural sugar.

How much weight could I loose? -

I am a seventeen year old girl looking to loose a few pounds. I am only 5 1 and weigh around 120 pounds. If I don t eat any fast food for a whole month (I eat fast food almost daily), no sodas or anything but water, and work out at least 3 times a week, how much weight could I loose? I don t need an exact number, just an estimation. Also, if you have any tips on a healthy weight loss plan please share. Thanks!

Probably eight to ten pounds :]I think you re on the right track- when you incorporate a balanced diet that ranges from 1200 to 1500 calories, exercise regularly and thoroughly, and make an overall effort to be healthier, you ll be shocked at the results :]Quick hint also- you can easily drop seven pounds of water weight in about a week if you reduce your sodium intake and drink more water :]Good luck, darling!

I doubt you will be able to just jump into it, and when you can t, don t be discouraged! Maybe you should eat fast food once a week, and same with exercise and work your way up gradually until you get to that goal. You will lose plenty of weight but I don t think you need to lose any...

Why do you want to lose weight?? Please be happy with the weight you are. You are very fortunate. You could be weighing 250 pounds. Trust me it sucks. Appreciate what you have. I dont understand why skinny people always complain about being fat, its ridicules.

20 pounds or more just try to be healthy dont get lazy and go to the drive through just drink plenty of water and do simple excercises like cleaning around the house or going up and down the stairs several times and you ll do great! (:

what Future Shamanism Connoissuer said. but you can easily loose more than 10 pounds in a month if you work at it regularly and NEVER MISS A DAY . good luck :)

Does the Smart for Life Cookie diet work? -

There is a medically supervised weight loss program run by a company called Smart for Life. You eat a very restrictive 800-1200 calories a day and they claim weight loss of 12-15 lbs per month. The cost is very high so I was wondering if this really does work and people have been able to keep the weight off. Please refrain from making unrelated general comments about exercise and proper nutrition.

I started the program about a week ago and lost 9 pounds. It s working for me and I know that I can stay on it because I can see the results. It is hard to get used to the first couple of days but just hang in there it does get better. As far as the cost, the way I look at it is if I were eating my old ways I would be spending more on junk. I have a friend who did the diet and lost 50 pounds fast and you will get some weird looks when you tell people about it. Hang tough and look forward to a new you.

MissE - I am about to start this program next week. Did you or your friend have to do a lot of exercise? More than a 1/2 hour per day? Report Abuse

Eat healthily and exercise. And for motivation you could try getting some pictures of how you want your body to look and put them somewhere you ll see them, perhaps as your screensaver? And then they ll keep you motivated!
