How to lose weight off of my thighs? -

i am looking to try to make my thighs thinner and i need some good ways that will actually work. any ideas please? thanks in advance. =]

a lot of people eat when they are depressed, i do the opposite.. thank god. but i eat when im stressed.aside from the obvious eating right, and exercise, you have to know what that is to do it.whole grains (pasta, cereal, bread) i eat shredded wheat n bran with non fat milk, its the healthiest breakfast option i have found. whole grain pasta is good with newmans own marinara sauce, it tastes good and is healthy.fruits (plums, mango, kiwi, apples, grapes) make it fun and get new fruit that tastes good.veggies (avocado, tomato) pack these on a sandwich (no cheese it has refined carbs and a lot of saturated fat). i get cans of veggies so if i am feeling like eating something bad i open up the can of veggies and eat it real quick and i just ate something good instead of something bad and im not hungry anymore. lean meats and fish (chicken, turkey, salmon, tuna) not fried, no skin.dairy (nonfat milk, nonfat cottage cheese) dairy can be tricky because if you re not careful you can consume a lot of saturated fats. eggs for example contain a lot of saturated fats and cholesterol in the yolk. i will just cook the white part and make a sandwich out of it.you are supposed to get 32g of dietary fiber a day and along with protein is essential for weight loss. on like a box of shredded wheat n bran it will say there is 8g per serving, look above that where it says servings per container for example if it said 2, there would be 16g in the whole box (theres more im just making an example). also look for low sugars, unless it is fruit you probably don t want foods high in sugar. be careful of too much sodium as well. and most of off saturated fats. some fats are good and healthy, monosaturated fats, and polyunsaturated fats are good for you, however like anything else you dont want to overdo it.also exercise and drink 64oz of water a day, is the recommended intake of an active person. make exercise fun, go swimming, skateboarding, play basketball, go to the gym. resistance training (weight lifting is the best for losing weight) because for every pound of muscle you gain that pound of muscle eats 50 more calories a day just to stay alive, without doing anything.im majoring in nutrition so if you have any more questions please e mail me.

Don t try any fad diets as these can end up making you more depressed. Hey. :DThe one thing that you really need is exercise. Eating right is also helpful, but you can still eat certain things AS LONG as you workoff alot of the calories.Don t trust those pill diets and things like that. EAT healthy and exercise atleast an hour a day. Jogging/running will definitely help. :DDAnd I m the same with food when I m depressed, but it s our choice. Next time you feel depressed, snap yourself out of it and start exercising. Exercising also relieves alot of stress and will make you feel much better.

Great excercise comes from activity. I would say join sports. That is the surest way I know of to beat depression and weight gain.

30 min. or more excersise is reccomended for everyone. so if you are trying to lose weight quickly, i say do active things like power walking, running, aerobics, dancing. excersise that makes you sweat means it s burning calories (;

Find something you enjoy doing, for example I do horseback riding and it doesn t seem like exercise at all. Just to a whole bunch of stuff till you find something you actually look forward to doing. If you can t do that, then music always helps at least :)

walking fast is great and lifting weights is fun to me. you could also see if there is a free city gym in your area...we have one here. they have stationary bikes, treadmills, weight machines too.you could start swimming when the weather warms up a little more. make sure you drink lots of water, eat more fruits and veggies.and make sure you get enough protein and dairy too for your health. i have also been seeing infomercials for exercise machines that you sit on, one I think is call the Red it has a red seat that you sit on and twist. there is also the Abdoer that you sit down on also...they were interesting to me because I have had foot pain for over a yr.

Water aerobics is great- also invest in a good sports bra for any other exercise and you won t have as much discomfort

One of the problems of losing weight is the brain...The brain is very clever and if it thinks you have lost something it will do its best to find it again for you. In the case of losing weight this is the last thing you want. You don t want the brain to slow your metabolism down so that you find your lost weight. What can you do about this? talk about your weight differently. If you are 20 stone and you want to be lighter, start off by telling yourself that you are 19 stone 12 and have gained 2 pounds (this will eventually get your brain to start trying to get rid of the extra for you) Remember though, if you don t believe it, it wont work (your brain is clever). lets face it, it is true...you do have extra pounds, so y do we start talking about losing weight? we are just getting back to normal weight.As to eating like there is no tomorrow......well that is your choice. If you eat too much you will put on weight. You are bound to miss your mum, and maybe you haven t dealt with all the issues of loss yet and that makes it more difficult,. Well to be brutally honest there is a psychological factor, and saying that your mom is all that stopped you from gaining weight is an excuse to avoid accepting that you can t stop your own eating. In which case I recommend you first accept yourself (Seeing a counsellor or psychologist is nothing to be ashamed of if it can help you feel better) and then get comfort in the idea your mother loved you and then work to losing weight by trying to eat smaller balanced meals more regularly and possibly going to see a trainer (certified of course) to help you reach your weight lose goals. And maybe a dietician for help with meal planning and such. Sorry if I came on strong I m just trying to help

I did the same after my mum passed, comfort eating, all the bad things are the tastiest because they are full of salt and sugar and your body get s addicted without you knowing. I m doing weight watchers diet it s the only one that works for me, having a daily points allowance and writing down everything you eat will put it into prespective. If you only have say 20 points for the day and a chocolate biscuit is 2 points you will realise how much you are eating and snacking throughout the day without realising. You can do it online it is cheaper than the meetings, or go once get all the start up books and do it alone. Once you get into it and the weight starts to come off it gives you more confidence. I m really sorry to hear about your mom firstly - I imagine you do miss her very much, and I do agree with you that a lot of issues surrounding weight is psychological. It sounds like you may be comfort eating more than anything. The main thing is that you ve realised you re over-eating, and now you can do something about it. I don t think you need anyone to tell you how to eat. Everyone knows that a healthy balance of excercise and smaller food portions is the best way. Try not to miss out meals either. I m sure you have a good idea of which foods are bad for you and which are good. By eating lots of fruit and veg, it should help improve your moods and outlooks on things too. I ve put on about 2 stone myself over the last couple of years, since I met my future husband! - but that s my thing, I always lose weight with unhappiness, and gain when I feel settled and happy! So I have some weight to lose myself!! Keep your chin up -I m certain things will get easier for you in time.Good luck

Of course it has a psychological aspect, it s not called comfort eating for nothing! We need to want to lose weight for ourselves though, someone else nagging is not going to work, my wife tells me that (and yes, I do need to lose weight!), so I am really trying to diet, although she does help (I m not married long, so obviously I try harder).The point remains though, that we are fat because we eat and drink too much, and until we indulge less, we will stay fat or indeed put more on!If only it were that simple in practice!

Breezer - I miss my mom every day. She passed away 3 years ago. I left home back in 1974 and have never lived with my family since..... But I was always a mamma s boy. Anyways, back to the weight situation..... Now that we are on our own we are the ones that need to take control. I say smaller portions.... and snack, if you must, with fruit, raw veggies and water. But, it s the smaller portions that you ll have to get used to. You ll see that after not long you ll get used to it.

it depends on where the weight loss is coming from. the loss of water weight usually doesn t come with a change in the physique unless the person is only 10-15 lbs overweight. normally the first 7-10 days on a diet 90% of the weight lost is water weight as stored nutrients are metabolized in the body. for most it takes a good 3-4 weeks before there is measurable fat loss through body fat analysis. so it can be a good 2 months before you really see a change in those problem areas of excess fat, etc. you should get your body fat analyzed so you know exactly where losses on the scale are occurring, it s one of the biggest mistakes that most people make. when you lose weight on the scale it s always a combination of water, muscle and fat. how the weight is lost and at what rate will determine how much of each is lost. monitoring your body fat tells you exactly that instead of guessing.

You ve lost a gallon of fat, so it should start to show up in how your clothes fit.

First of all, how much weight do you want to lose? To get you into your ideal range for a medium frame your weight would be in the 133-147 lb range. For you, that means losing 63 lbs at the very least. Let me start by saying it s not easy, but you can do it. There are two ways of doing this. The first way involves having a gym handy. What you want to do is go the gym and start out on the elliptical for 10 minutes. (What this is going to do is warm up your muscles.) Then progress to the free weights or weight machines. Work different parts of your body, arms, legs, torso, etc. Do this for about thirty-forty minutes in reps of 10-15 and sets of 2-3. Then get back on the elliptical for another ten minutes and cool down. What you are doing is replacing your fat with muscle and in the process you will lose weight. You should do this 5+ times a week for good results. However, if your muscles are sore you can go for less time. (Remember though, less time means less results.)The other way to do this if you don t have a gym handy is to go walking or running outside. Running is perhaps the best way to lose weight and over time you will actually start to truly enjoy it and need your daily run. I am two years younger than you, 13. I hip-hop dance. I lose a bit. try doing little work-outs. Eat healthier. As in, watch what you eat. There is a diet my dad was on, and it helped. No, I haven t tried, but I am soon. It s where you eat any kind of meat and greens and drink only diet drinks. But, after every meal, you have to either drink grapefruit juice or eat one.
