What are some effictive weight loss tips for an obese 13 year old? -

so I am 13, 5 4 and 185 pounds. I would like to lose weight. I need excercises and food choices that are good.any help is appreciated

Just get involved in a sport. You can also do stretching exercises or yoga. Also watch what ur eating. You re only supposed to eat 3 grams of fat per 100 calories which is where most ppl go wrong. hope this helps! :)

a good healthy well ballanced diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, fish ,chicken (free range) a little red meat, wholemeal bread ,with seeds and grains ,lots of water, green tea, herbal tea,a little coffee, (if u must )filtered is much better than instant.and of course exercise.strict diets work wonderfully in the short term, but u always regain the weight PLUS extra,so concentrate on healthy and let the weight go slowly .ps .weigh youself no more than once in 4 months.

walkkeep a diary of what you eat and when.be honest with the food diary13 is a hard age for a girls body-I weighed 185 lbs when I was 13. I am 5 4 ---I got plenty of exercise, and was busy all the time...nothing helped except growing out of it somewhere around 16 things got way better. And yes I know over two years sounds like a long time, but 13 is a very difficult age to go through-for you and your body.

masterbate regularlyit is a good work out and helped me cut like 69 pounds

If you start excercising and just hanging out walking around the Mall with your friends and eat healthy choices in food you will lose weight. I don t want you to start thinking about how big you are and the weight you need to lose. When I was your age I weighed the same if better and I lose it as I got older. IT S JUST A LITTLE BABY FAT !!

Obesity is normally caused by a combination of overeating and a lack of exercise. Avoid full-fat dairy products, fatty and sugary snacks such as biscuits, cakes, crisps and nuts, high-fat meats such as sausages, bacon and minced beef. Eat plenty of complex carbohydrates, found in pasta, potatoes, brown rice and wholemeal bread, fresh fruits, vegetables, salads and pulses, lean meat, poultry (without the skin) and fish. You might want to read an article on slimming.

Find ways to get busy. Get involved in a sport that you enjoy, like dancing, swimming, basketball, etc. Try to get exercise everyday, even if it s only a few walks around the block. Then, watch what you eat: how much and what kinds.

Make a journal of the foods you eat. It should record your regular week. Things you want to write in your journal are what you ate, how much(servings labeled on box), calories in it, the time of day, and why you ate it. The reasons can be hunger, boredom, watching tv, whatever. Use this journal to get a real look at what you eat, when and why. Try to balance your diet and find more filling things. When you make a sandwich, use whole grain breads instead of white, you will feel fuller and eat less.Use the information you learn from it to adjust your habits. If you eat a lot more when you re bored, take up a hobby so you don t get so bored. If it s when you re watching tv, watch less of it. Pick your top 3 shows and ignore everything else unless it s a special event.Start exercising. It shouldn t be anything major at first since that will just wear you out if you aren t accustomed to that amount of activity. Figure out what you like to do and start with that, or start with a walk around the block at a comfortable pace and slowly increase that pace. Anytime you are sitting around is a good time for a little exercise, kicking your feet, butt crunches, flexing muscles...things people wont really notice but will give you a little extra calorie use. As you get used to the activity level you set, increase it a little bit. Don t just jump into push ups, sit ups, and running a mile you can easily get hurt that way and end up not being as active as you are now. Imagine pulling a tendon and it hurting every time you stand up, you re not going to want to stand.Once a week skip your workout to stretch. Stretching is important to lessen the likelihood of an injury. If you chose to lift weights don t concern yourself with how many times you lift, that builds muscle and fatigues what you already have. Lift the weight slowly to the highest position, lower it halfway and hold for 5 seconds, lower the rest of the way and repeat. It can be difficult to lose weight, but it is doable. The slower you do it the less likely you are to regain all that you worked to lose. The best goal is to lose 1 or 2 pounds per week. The body has a thing called a set point. This is a weight that your body likes to maintain and will do whatever it can to do it. You can reset this set point with slow weight loss. Rapid weight loss does not and that is why you see people on fad diets regain their weight so quickly and the more this happens the more difficult it is to lose the weight again.

foolproof, healthy way to lose weight at a young age:stick to 100% whole grains and avoid ANY products made with refined flours and sugarseat lean proteineat LOTS of veggies and fruits at every mealeat 3 normal sized meals a dayonly eat when your hungryExercise: bike ride, run, walk your pet, play sports, do anything you like! just make sure to do something active for atleast 30 mins every day. good luck!

eat vegetables (non starchy vegetables) and lean proteins. And exercise. At your age exercise will do wonders. Just go for a walk if you can not get to a gym

Special K with Berries, its DELICIOUS and i lost 20 lbs on it and I m 16 so we should be similar. Eat 1 cup with 1/2 cup of milk for Breakfast and lunch. Dinner eat normally.

Is this healthy? please give advice!? -

Glass of skimmed milkslice of wholemeal breadGlass of pure apple juicelunch : glass of skimmed milk, 3 small slices of water melon 2 low fat low calorie salt and vinegar rice cakesGlass of pure fruit juiceDinner - small quorn burger - 69 calories with a 152 calorie wholemeal bun with lettuce, small amount of onion and tomatoGlass of skimmed milkSmall fruit salad of red melon strawberry and apple with small amount very low fat natural yogurtI am a vegetarian so cant eat meat or fishI am on a diet i am 16 and weigh 195 lbs is this a healthy weight loss diet along with 25 minutes of fast walking a day?I want to lose around 65 lbsI think I may be eating far too much is this the case?

Honestly it sound like too little. Here are some other great food optionsBreakfast:1/2 small bagel with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter2 slices of mulitgrain toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter 1 cup of cold cereal (with 5 grams of fiber or more) with skim milk.GrapefruitBananaOrangeScrambled egg whitesYogurtLunch:Have a salad or a vegetarian soup with your watermelon and rice cakesDinner:Be sure to include lots of fresh veggiesTips: don t eat the same thing everyday you ll get bored and it will be hard to stick with your diet. A glass of milk is 8oz (1 cup) not the whole big glass, 1200 calories a day is a good number to plan your menu around. Keep a food journal, keep track of what your eating/drinking, what time and how many calories/carbs/fats/protein your getting. Remember to drink lots of water. Don t completely cut out fat your body needs it to break down certain vitamins and minerals. Also be sure your getting enough protein (cheese, eggs, peanut butter, beans). It is possible to lose weight and not feel like your starving your self :)Once that 25 min of walking feels easy, up it a little or start running. Biking, swimming and rollerblading are also great (and fun) excersises.Good Luck :) and have patience.BTW: check out this website put up by the USDA. It has many great tips for healthy eating and losing weight. http://mypyramid.gov/

damn that s a little food. i d fall over if i ate that little. eat healthily and exercise more. walking won t do anything...you ve got to get your heart rate up. aerobics, jogging, punchbag and gym circuit. but don t start off hardcore and die or something. lol. but you ve got to sweat a lot and get your heart rate up. no you aren t eating too much with this diet....you re 16 you shouldn t be cutting calories too drastically. being a vegetarian, you need more protein to grow properly...being a vegetarian is dumb in my opinion.

Glass of skimmed milkslice of wholemeal breadGlass of pure apple juiceYou need to add more protein. Eggs, high protein cereal (like Kashi), quinoa, even canned tuna are good examples of what you could have for breakfast that have protein. (I don t know if you re a vegetarian that eats eggs and fish or not. Some are.)lunch : glass of skimmed milk, 3 small slices of water melon 2 low fat low calorie salt and vinegar rice cakesGlass of pure fruit juiceAgain more protein. Beans are good (chickpeas, lentils or black beans). Keep in mind that rice cakes and watermelon are high in the glycemic index (http://www.glycemicindex.com/) and should be eaten before or after exercise.Dinner - small quorn burger - 69 calories with a 152 calorie wholemeal bun with lettuce, small amount of onion and tomatoGlass of skimmed milkAdd more vegetables. Broccoli, red pepper, carrots, green beans, etc.Small fruit salad of red melon strawberry and apple with small amount very low fat natural yogurtMake sure the yogurt is low sugar. You could use plain then use honey, maple syrup or stevia to sweeten.Overall you should be eating more protein and vegetables but keep it up. You ll get there. Good luck.

Becoming a young model...? Healthy weight loss? -

I m fourteen and am very very interested in becoming a model. Its my dream! I m working hard to keep a healthy diet and clear my skin. I m 5.7 almost 5.8 and am kinda chunky. Not to bad, but I ll need to be leaner and thinner for modeling. My waist is 28in and I need to get it down to 26in or 25in.So what would be some healthy types of excercise I could do? That would be safe for my age exct. And how often?

The best way is to keep a food diary. Keep it for about a week, and then look back upon it; then, cut out the highest calorie food that you ve eaten each day. Replace any junk food with fresh fruits and vegetables, and drink water, lemonade, or tea instead of soft drinks and juices. Also, start exercising (swimming, biking, walking the dog, etc.). And don t eat after 7 PM. That should help!

Has anyone tried herbal life weight loss products? -

I purchased a kit but I need for someone to tell me what they did for success. Thank you

I ve never used it but I can tell you this - no diet product will work unless you combine it with a reduced calorie diet and exercise. I can tell you what will help you lose weight - with or without the supplements. First off, eating right. I recommend the South Beach Diet only because I have tried it and it works. It s less of a diet and more of a lifestyle change. The first two weeks are kinda hard because they are the most restrictive but I promise you it will get easier. It encourages lots of low fat protein, veggies, fruits and whole grains, which we all know are good for you.Second is exercise. I recommend alternating weight lifting days (don t worry you won t bulk up) with aerobic exercise days. You can do aerobic exercise, just do maybe thirty minutes one day and sixty to ninety the next. I know it sounds like a lot but you can build up to it. Whatever you do to lose weight good luck. Not only will you reap lots of health benefits from it but you will feel and look great!

Is it harder or easier to lose weight after Gall Bladder surger? -

I know what it takes to lose weight however I m wondering about losing weight now that my gall bladder is taken out?I had it taken out 5 days ago, not really ready to excerise much yet.I have diarrhea after eating. My cousin had it done 6 months ago and was doing weight watchers, and doing a VERY good job but last time I saw her, she appeared to have gained alot of weight, however I don t know if she s still doing the weight loss program/excersing or not....So does doing the eating right and excersing make weight loss harder or easier without your gall bladder? Thanks.

i just got mine taken out on friday 7/21/2008 and i am wondering the same thing.

Is there a scale for weight to size ratio? sorry about the spelling earlier? -

I m getting ready to graduate and am on a weight loss program. My dilema is, I need to order my cap and gown and don t know what size to get. If I continue to loose like I am now then I should be 176 lbs by graduation day. I m 5.4 and need to know if anyone knows what size that will be. Thanks.

I am 5 2 and weigh 172 lbs and I am size 12 - hope that helps.

if you re female - I would think a size 16-18

Is this healthy? -

i used be about 204-5 last november, but about 4 weeks ago I started to work out more, and i m down to 192 now. I want to know, is that healthy weight loss? or should i be losing more/less? btw, i m fourteen at 5 ft 10in.

It is very healthy and you are losing weight the right way. You can figure on a 2 to 3 pound weight loss when you are eating the right foods and doing exercises. Congrats.

It s good that you are trying to lose weight! You should try to take it slowly though, 192 is a bit much for 4 weeks, just exercise and eat healthy and keep it up. TAKE IT SLOWLY THOUGH!!!!!

you are doing good eat health food and make exercise

Great job!! Keep it up girl. At your age you need to loose a few more pounds. God Bless.

Looks like healthy weightloss to me! Keep it up chick!! :D [claps for you]And being between 110-130 or whatever Bob said is NOT healthy for everyone. There are other factors besides AGE. :-p

you are doing fine keep going, the 1st 2 weeks of weight loss is usually the liver, after that it gets harder to lose weight

It s sounds pretty balanced....as long as you re not starting to feel bad (dizzy, tired, etc...) it should be an o.k. pace to continue.

wow i think thats good! keep it up!

you need to lose way more weight(no offense) the average weight for a fourteen year old is about 110 to 130 pounds.

Yes that s normal, you will find your weight loss will slow down, but don t lose faith, keep it up.

dang

I heard that healthy weight loss is two pounds a week, and anything more than that is unhealthy or just water weight.

YAY!! good job!that s totally healthy and i m so happy for you all the way!

good! keep it up!!!!!

Sounds fine to me. Good luck

Sounds good :)Now that you have lost some initial weight, aim to lose 1 to 2 lbs per week. It s better for the body and sustainable. Rapid weight loss is fine for the first few weeks, but then it must slow.
