When losing weight, how can you prevent the hanging extra skin from happening? -

What causes it? Is it from losing weight too quickly, or not exercising, or both? What is considered too quickly anyway? I know they say healthy weight loss is one to two pounds per week, so is anything more than that going to cause your skin to hang?

You ve pretty much got it - not enough exercise and too much weight loss too quickly. You can improve your skin s elasticity by exercising regularly and often, and that will minimize the amount of extra skin you have. Depending on how much you re losing it may not be an issue, or it may be completely unavoidable. Exercise (and a healthy diet!) will make the skin as resilient as it can be, and you re correct that losing weight more slowly will also help - it gives the skin time to catch up. If you re at a healthy or moderately overweight weight you should be aiming for two pounds per week (you may lose a bit more at the beginning, etc.) and if you re very overweight and/or obese you could aim to lose up to three pounds per week. Those targets aren t just for your skin either, but for the health of your heart and other organs as well.

Exercise.

Both. Actually, it s caused by the fact that your skin stretched out and has lost collagen so it s having a hard time shrinking back down. But, excercising firms up the muscles, which makes the skin look tighter. And losing weight slowly allows your skin time to shrink as you lose, so the stretching isn t so obvious. I know that it ll shrink down eventually, but you may always have some extra skin--depending on genetics, your level of collagen in the skin and how much stretching the skin did. Good luck!

the key is toning your body while you lose weight. if u just lose weight then you will not look as good. you have to incorperate toning with eating healthy~

Try to keep your skin moisturized. When you are heavy and you lose weight your skin tends to hang because it lost its elasticity. You know when you blow up a balloon it is soft and smooth....but when you let the air out the rubber is now stretched and wrinkled. Same thing happens to your skin.Toning up with weights may help also...but what helped me out was always putting a good moisturizing lotion on. Do this a lot!

Actually its both. Losing too fast while not exercising causes the excess. However sometimes it can t be helped- such as if you are 300 pounds you will have some excess regardless of how much you exercise.

Hey, Celia, I, too, am losing weight but from a different reason - I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been on Prednisone for almost three years. Finally, I worked my way off and am losing. I hired a personal trainer to help me and am doing strengthening exercises - this also tones the body. God, I hate doing this! But, its working. I also purchased a Pilates Reformer and it is a multi-task piece of equipment. Can t say I use it all the time but when I don t go to the gym I do it for almost an hour (while I m watching Tv!) Genie (in Texas)

yes,i think so.

Is this healthy weight loss, and other suggestions? -

I m 21, and was 230 pounds about 2-3 weeks ago, I have been dieting since then and am at 225 now. I do a light to moderate amount of physical activity. Anyways, I ve been consistently eating approx 1500-1700 calories daily for my weight loss. I am in college so it is often difficult to find healthy food, but I am eating mostly fruits and vegetables, tuna, and having lunch meat or bagel sandwitches and running 2-3 days a week. So thats what I doing, could I be doing anything better, or am I doing something not as good as I should. Is that too little calories too eat for my size or can I reduce them even more. Should I be eating other types of food, vitamins, etc.Just looking for some good general advice.

Thats a good amount of calories. try running 5 days a week for 20-25 mins. To make sure your getting all your nutrients, take a multivitamin, like flinstones! (yes, even if your 21) and drink atleast 4-5 bottles of water a day. Acquire a taste to green tea and have 2 cups in the morning and 2 at night. The tea bags from lipton are great that come in a box. Best of luck and keep up the good work :)ps. Try the Turbo Jam dvds, the 5 workout set. Their great, and a great variety from abs to cardio to sculpting!

well for doing better you need to be drinking lots of water. I drink at least 48oz of water a day. 5 servings of fruit or vegetables a day. 2oz of oil a day. Eat whole grains instead of like white bread or something. need at least 2 servings of dairy milk yogurt don t matter or cheese. Also get your protein in to.For about calories you get a day that would depend on lots of things being male or female age, height, weight, and job. Or you could do calories just by weight. But this is going with weight watchers basically

go to the web and read on food...eating-for-life.com and for the body goto body-for-life.com

I think you are doing wonder full keep up the good work.

Exercise is good. Make sure you eat well too. You could start out with a good organ cleansing program like www.greatfit.isagenix.com to get the fat cells out. Then avoid artificial sweetners, reduce or eliminate soda and/or coffee. Drink at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water per day. Read labels. Avoid anything that contains MSG or partially hydrogenated oils. Fill your plate 1/2 full with cooked or raw vegetables and don t forget the protein. Remember your body craves nutrients not calories. Hope that helps.

How do I lose weight? -

All right. Yeah, I know I posted this already, but just hear me out. I think in the last post, I made myself sound lazy and unwilling to work to lose weight. What I didn t make clear is that I already HAVE made some big changes in my lifestyle. I was previously about 130 pounds, with a BMI of 23. I never exersized, and always stuffed myself with junk food, I was slowly but surley gaining weight. I started to exersize most days of the week for 30-60 minutes. I cut out much of the junk food I ate and gave myself limits on calorie intake. I learned all I could on healthy weight loss. And now, I ve lost 10 pounds and my BMI is more like 21.5. I ve noticed the change in appearence, but I still feel fat. All I meant last time was that I m not willing to go on a crazy diet and make myself miserabe. I want to lose more weight, but at the same time, I want to enjoy good food (within limits). Diets don t work. I want to lose weight, but do something I can stay on for life.

I myself was having some weight problems 2 years ago when I was only 5 1 140lbs and 14yrs old.within 2 months I lost over 25lbs.this is what I did:FIRST you must stop drinking sodas and other drinks that have sugar; just drink water.2nd-stop eating chips and any junk food/candy. Stay away from ALL fatty foods.3rd- Eat a Lean Cuisine, there are 100 s of different types, for lunch and another for dinner. I know you re probably going to be a little hungry after you eat one so after you eat a Lean Cuisine, eat a bowl of a low-fat low sugar cereal and if you like milk with your cereal, as most people do, use fat free milk, which still tastes great.4th- so after you have eliminated all unhealthy foods from your diet plan, now time for exercises. For me to lose over 25lbs in under 2 months I ran every single day, running about 1hr or more each day. Once I got home from running I would do 50 regular crunches (x2), then 50 advanced crunches (x2). Then I would do 100 push ups in sets of 20.Do that everyday for 2 months, eating the way I suggested and I guarantee you will lose 25lbs or more depending on how hard you work.after all that, start lifting weights 30 minutes per day and you ll see a great change!I m currently 5 6 weighing 148 pounds of muscle :)Good luck to you :)

ok ino u said no diets but just incase there is one where you cut out all wheat, or all dairy, both if u can but i agree this is a relatively hard diet i have tried it so you can just cut your intake down, i lost a few kilo s as i did this for about 5months, but the result in losing this weight made me feel better about myself and it gave me more confidence so this boosted my motivation tones! as i got off the diet i exercised way more and ate alot healthier ........as my motivation was to keep this weight off!!!!! its a good plan if u can pull it off trust me my friend did the same thing and it has worked for her 2!!!

Weight loss tips needed please!!!! What are some good workouts to help burn fat at the gym?!!? -

I have been going to the gym like 4x a week , and do about 1.5 hrs of cardio, I am eating better, but i still don t see fast enough results. What are some good workouts I can do at gym to burn fat?! Is it true that I need to detoxify my body first? Thanks in advance!

You don t necessarily need to detox but it wouldn t be a bad idea. If your eating healthy foods like plenty of fruits and veggies then you body will automatically detox itself. Any kind of teas are ideal for for detoxing. TRY to eat at least every 2 to 3 hrs in order to keep your metabolism burning like a fire. If you eating any sugar cut it out and get your sugars from natural sources like the fruits. IN the gym try to do circuit training like: LIFTING: jumping from one machine to the other with almost no rest at all free-weights included. CARDIO: try to go at a very high pace for a minute or two and then slow down to a normal pace and continue this for at least a 20-minute cardio session. This is really hard but burns alot of fat. Honestly eating right is going to be a big percentage of how your body turns out unless your in the gym for a whole workday like UFC fighters. My daily diet:6am- water, egg, or protein shake or fiber cereal dry(I dont have time for cooking)830am- apple or orange and water1030am-tuna can or chicken breast or any lean meat and a veggie and water1300pm- orange or apple and water1500pm- protein shake1730pm- fish and any kind of greens and water(cut this meal in half and have it two hrs later.1900pm- eat rest of fish and greens2130pm- casein(slow digestive) protein Go to bed early because sleep is important for your body to recuperateIf your trying to get alot of muscle then put alot more protein in the diet above and wake up in the middle of the night and take a protein shake.

First, I understand where you re coming from. Here s what I found out after lots of research and trial and error, the hard way.The reality is that there are no shortcuts or easy ways to get in good shape. Sorry, but someone needed to tell you this.As long as you get conscious about what you are doing, you will see the results. Below you will find the four principles that you need to keep in mind in your weight-loss journey.http://thefatlosssecret.blogspot.com/ 1.Forget About DietsPeople that go from diet to diet never reach a stable weight, let alone a good shape. The reason is quite simple: diets are, by their very nature, temporary. You cant expect to eat properly for two or three weeks and fix your weight problems for the rest of the year.2.Proper NutritionIf you want to keep your weight and fat percentage under control, you will need to learn the basics of nutrition. Once you learn them, you will be able to eat healthy throughout the year.3.Physical ExerciseEating healthy and having a caloric deficit will only take you half the way. The other key factor is physical exercise.4.Discipline and PerseveranceYou can start eating healthy and exercising properly, but unless you stick doing it regularly, the results wont appear (if they do, they wont last).Discipline and perseverance are key here.If you want to Lose Weight ,I can recommend you to check outhttp://thefatlosssecret.blogspot.com/ .It is a great program that helped me.

I am not going to leave you some big long essay about blah blah blah...I will say this...I am trying to lose weight myself. I have found success it quick diets that will kind of jump start your weight loss. For example...the cabbage soup diet You google cabbage soup recipe, make the stuff and eat it for a week...but that stuff is really pretty nasty!!! So my alternative is just soup. Make a pot of chicken vegetable, or get some cans of progresso and get it crackin! Also...visit my website for a free eBook for the best ab exercises. a href= http://www.freesourceboard.com/fla abs weight loss advice /a

Results will come in time! You need to patient, because taking diet pills, ect. will not help you in the long run. Just keep up what you re doing! Good luck!

If you can run and un for 45 minutes. It will do the trick.

Using Acai berries as one of the components in a healthy balanced diet had become very popular. There are various free trials provided by respected companies on the internet. Lots of information can be found about them but are they really healthy?Acai berries contain lots of antioxidants. These antioxidants prevent the damage of healthy human body cells by oxidizing free radicals which is produced everyday inside our body. Besides that, the high content of natural minerals and vitamins could help us by maintaining our daily required intake of such substances. These berries also include the high fiber content. Fiber helps in digestion and normalizes the peristaltic movement of the bowels. Toxins and unwanted substances will be absorbed by the fiber and removed by the body. This causes effective WEIGHT LOSS. It is also a must to mention that Acai berries have great taste and they are not difficult to be eaten. They taste of fresh dried exotic grapes and would make it very pleasant to consume. The weight loss effects of this fruit are also due to natural increased metabolism. The body consumes more energy performing same chores, so the weight lost is actually extra calories burnt and just not water loss. This effect is not temporary and stays with the body. So the lost pounds don t come back but with the condition that you do have to watch your diet and continue with your workout regime. Acai is absolutely safe for consumption and has no diverse side effects. An another important property of acai berry fruit is it retains its magical properties when preserved. Thus leading to very effective weight loss supplements. Weight loss supplements are designed to work with the dieting process to help improve vitamin and mineral levels that may be missing in the diet. These supplements have helped many people over the years achieve their weight loss targets. The body will be far more likely to get rid of unnecessary weight if it is absorbing the right amount of nutrients and acai berry will take care of it.If You are serious about losing weight, go get your free trail. I would be QUITE surprised if you don t 10 lose pounds in the trail period.Click Here :http://www.acaiberryselect.com/splash.php?aid=509155 To Get Started

What is the best diet for weight loss? -

what is the menu for healthy weight loss? thanks, i was reading about the Mayo Clinic diet but they say that it is a myth and a fad.

Don t try the Acai Berry that is given in another answer. That free trial is a scam because it doesn t contain the real berry. Just cut out as much fat and sugar as possible. Eat six small meals a day. Eat lots of salads and fruits with plenty of water. And dance, dance, dance as that is an easy great way to exercise...

High-protein/low-carbohydrate diets are often low in calories because food choices are strictly limited, so they may cause short-term weight loss. But a reduced-calorie eating plan that includes recommended amounts of carbohydrate, protein, and fat will also allow you to lose weight. By following a balanced eating plan, you will not have to stop eating whole classes of foods, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables - and miss the key nutrients they contain. You may also find it easier to stick with a diet or eating plan that includes a greater variety of foods.

* Reduce your overall fat consumption and choose healthy fats (like lean meat or nuts) over junk food. Limit your daily caloric intake to a healthy amount for size and lifestyle. Take a multivitamin everyday, and drink lots of water.* Horse gram is rich in iron; it helps keep you in good body weight and is very effective in controlling obesity. To help control your weight, soak one to two tablespoons of it in a glass of water, allow it to rest overnight, and then take the soaked solution every morning on an empty stomach.* Your food must contain at least one bitter or pungent food. This must be cooked minimally to maintain the juices intact. The bitter gourd and the bitter variety of drumstick are beneficial in this aspect.

1000 calorie dietTrying the 1000 calorie diet is only advisable for one week, due to your body entering starvation mode and conserving fat. Overdoing the 1000 calorie diet is counterproductive to your body so try to stay on it for only 1 week. After 1 week you will lose between 3-5 pounds. The 1000 calorie diet can be used as a starter diet for a long term weight loss program. Try to aim for 2-3 pounds of weight loss and a good exercise program to begin with. After 1 week on the 1000 calorie diet, try upping your calorie intake or reverting back to a not so severe diet, this will prevent your bodys metabolism from slowing down. Here is a simple 1000 calorie daily menu.Breakfast? Banana sandwich made with 2 slices of wholemeal bread and a small banana? Small glass of orange juiceSnack ? 1 pot of low fat yoghurt (preferably fruit)Lunch ? 1 wholemeal roll filled with tuna and low fat mayonnaise (use tin tuna in spring water)? Mixed lettuce salad, red or yellow sweet peppers, spring onionsSnack ? 1 bag of lower fat crispsDinner ? Roast chicken breast (without skin) ? Potatoes, mashed with 30ml semi-skimmed milk ? Broccoli (all vegetables steamed or boiled) ? Carrots ? Gravy (made from granules)Evening ? 1 low calorie hot chocolate drink made with powder and waterDrinks throughout the day ? Diet coke, water, black coffee or tea without sugarThe 1000 calorie diet can be used as a starter diet for a long term weight loss program. Try to aim for 2-3 pounds of weight loss and a good exercise program to begin with. Remember after 1 week on the 1000 calorie diet, try upping your calorie intake or reverting back to a not so severe diet, this will prevent your bodys metabolism from slowing down.
