Which weight loss products work - pills/herbal teas/meal replacements? I need a boost to start me off dieting? -

I am going to get some weight loss milk shakes or something tomorrow to get me going. Any ideas of good ones or pills that work? I am not interested in healthy eating advice etc just basic straightforward immediate weight loss results - I know these methods are unhealthy but so is being fat :)Which ones have you used that work? Thanks

I agree with Jay (above). My sister in law used to be a model and she was inactive due to pregnancy. At the end of it, she was over weighted by 17 pounds and she says she got back to her weight using a more powerful version of the known Acai Berry besides a light exercise routine. My husband is using it since he saw his sister s change and he looks thinner, but it s very soon to know (it s barely 3 days now). You could ask for a sample before buying it. She did that before ordering.Hope this helps.

I have to agree that there is no quick fix for weight loss apart from surgery, say liposuction or gastric banding. The only pills that might work are appetite suppressants which I don t think are available in the Uk as they have undesirable side effects.I think it best to accept a gradual weight loss which you can start by just cutting out junk foods and carbohydrate dense foods. If you go without cans of fizzy drink, cakes and biscuits and fried bread and chips, coupled with a little bit of walking every day you should see some loss of weight within two weeks. I m about to build a blog/website about weight loss to give people honest sensible advice. If you want to give me your email I ll let you know when it s upRobert

Different strokes for different folks. Although those weight loss shakes like slim fast and south beach shakes really have alot of carbs in them! Plus they re empty carbs so you ll still be hungry. Fasting is a way too lost quick weight and cleans out the body but most people don t have the will power. Why don t you drink alot of crystal light, Cottage cheese (Fat free) grapes, Celery sticks (They help burn caleries) toast (Whole wheat bread) and make sure when you start eating normal again you don t go nuts cause it will all go back on.

I agree with most people that there is no immediate weight loss program/result. But depending on how immediate you are thinking, here are two of the best products I have tried. I used to weigh almost 200 lbs and didn t think it was too much of a problem until I had a dr s visit and they told me that the extra weight I had was causing stress on my heart, body, and knees. More importantly, they told me that the longer I am overweight, the more that the effects of my extra weight will be irreversable. I have lost 25 lbs in two months! I used both of these products...I took one for one month and the other the next month, kept a journal of my eating habits and exercise and I feel great now!!! I highly recommend trying these products along with a healthy diet and exercise. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.This was the first product I tried and loved it!!! I only switched as they say your body kind of builds an immunity to weight loss pills and should switch every 30 days or so.http://track.moreniche.com/hit.php?w=162This one worked just as good as the first one.http://track.moreniche.com/hit.php?w=162Good luck and let me know if you decide to try it and how it works for you. I love helping people and knowing that I did.

One of the best programs around because it has helped me! here is some info..UniqueHoodia is 100% Hoodia Gordonii with nothing else included, no fillers, no additives and no lubricants. Our capsules include 460mg of South African pure Hoodia Gordonii in each pill, our pills have been specially designed to allow for an extra 60mg of Hoodia to our closest rivals, we also pack 90 pills in each box, most products online have 60 pills.http://besthoodiadiet.co.cc/

Make sure to always choose water over any other beverage....others wise you d be wasting calories by drinking them. Don t eat things with high sugar or salt level....they will cause weight gain and bloating if not paired with adequate exercises. Also think of food portions, try not to eat a lot of just one thing.Don t eat right before you go to bed....anything you eat should be at least one to two hours before bed otherwise you won t burn off the calories. Also just try and be active...take walks(maybe some running)....play basketball, maybe some weights, oh and situps and that kind of thing. Your young, just don t do any of those fad diets or any of those protein shakes, those have been known to cause serious health problems.Best of luck to you :]

Diabetes????????? -

My doc scared the heck out of me today when I went in for thyroid check. Ok I am 70 pounds overweight...no symptoms. Great blood sugar LAST year. She said she thinks I have diabetes...based on no symptoms or bloodwork results (yet)Im nervous tho and have to turn 50 soon before I get the results back ! ANY advice here??? She wanted to start meds and I said NO-not yet. I got the message and am on a weight loss programas of this morning..scared..I WILL stick with it !

I agree that it s important to take this slowly. But if your doctor thinks you may have diabetes, it s important to confirm the diagnosis and take action. Diabetes is very manageable, but ignoring it will lead to complications including kidney failure, amputation and ultimately a premature death. It may be wise to invest in a glucose meter and a box of test strips. You can get one at any pharmacy and possibly a starter set from your doctor for free. Test your blood sugar when you wake up or two hours after a meal and see if you re running outside of the normal range (80-120 in the US, 4.5-6.5 UK). If you run higher than that, you at least have insulin resistance and possibly diabetes. Because diabetes is progressive, your early monitoring and intervention will have exponential benefits. Every year you delay action will make it harder to deal with. It is very possible that you could manage it with diet and exercise alone. At the very least, you could limit the amount of drugs you have to take and prolong your time without shots - possibly forever. You re not alone in what you re going through. Just make sure you get a firm answer, and if diagnosed diabetes or insulin resistant, be pro-active in your care.

I realize that conventional health care is necessary and appropriate. That having been said, there are also many things WE can do to overcome type II diabetes, and improve life as a Type I diabetic. I ve been researching alternative medicine, and the amount of help that s available to diabetics is amazing.Natural remedies are quite effective, and include:CinnamonBitter MelonGymnema SylvestreNopal cactusAmerican GinsengFenugreekChromium picolinateCinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Fenugreek increases blood flow and inhibits the growth of infectious organisms. Everything on the list has a use in fighting diabetes. Learn how to use these herbs and don t fall victim to diabetes needlessly. You can find out about about them on line, or in a book I read cover to cover-- One Son s Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes , ISBN 7890766313 The author, a doctor, lost his mother to diabetes and spent the next 20 years finding a way to overcome it. My brother was dying of diabetes, and I was just starting to need insulin when we came across this definitive work which came out in February 2005. We both lead mostly normal lives now. It s a life saver, and the best money you ll ever spend on the subject if you decide to go that way. You might want to check Abe Books, Alibri s, or Amazon.com for a good used copy cheap. I bought mine new, and I think it was about $35. I don t get any money from anybody for telling you this--just want to help, and the techniques in this book is what made the difference for me and mine. Best of luck. Just recently found this 8-minute non-profit video http://www.rawfor30days.com/view.html , about diabetes diet. Click on the link, then click View Windows Media to watch it.You ll be glad you saw it.

Diet and exercise are key to remaining healthy. Type II (which is what you would have- adult onset) can be controlled by healthy lifestyle, pills, or insulin shots. If you can keep up the good work you may not need the shots! This has to be a complete lifestyle change, no slacking!

That is very strange that your Dr. is trying to put you on medication without your blood work coming back, just because you are overweight, does not mean you are going to become diabetic. At your age though, it is very wise to go on a weight loss program - it will help your heart and keep you healthy longer. If you suspect that you may be becoming diabetic, you can control the amount of sugar you intake and you can follow some simple rules and control it with the way you eat. Check out the website www.diabetes.org for more information.

Don t take the meds. Read Dr. Neal Barnard s new book called Reversing Diabetes , follow his plan exactly and get your blood work checked in 2 months.

dont take the pills right away=insist that your Dr does a glucose tolerence test and while you are waiting to see Dr try not to eat stuff with sugar in it ok=remember too that if you have type 2 diebetes you can take a pill=you dont have to go on a needleremember she only thinks you have it so insist on the test

That makes NO sense. Giving you meds if you don t have a problem could be dangerous. I think you should switch Drs. Good that you are getting on a weight loss program though.

Healthy weight loss...? -

okay, so. my bmi is 28.2 which is in the overweight section. im 5 7 and 180 lbs exactly. im not looking for fast weight loss or acai berry found blah blah im just looking for weight loss. i dont really care how long it takes, but i would like for it to be by the summer. ive always been a fairly over weight person, i dont really look obese i just have a stomach. im very muscular, and have an atheletic body. i dont eat fatty foods, or sugary things. i just like food, like rice beans etc. ive lowered my portions, and the consistancy of eating, and i lost 7lbs already. i just need to know exactly what to do, and when i search it online i get acai berry crap, and total cleanser . is there any excersizes i can do, to get rid of the belly? please give me tips, im looking for a lifestyle change, not a quick fix . thanks guys, its very much appreciated :D

Acai berries are a relatively newly discovered berry that has some healthy characteristics. The acai berry is high in anti-oxidants and really helps people loose weight quickly. There are lots of health advantages to acai berries, but they must be frozen right after harvest to make sure they retain thier potency. One of the major brands of acai suppliments is acai berry power 500. Lately, many talk show hosts have done profiles on the health benefits of acai. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Acai-Berry.html

You re the exact same as me!!Look at my question:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?I know it says 160lbs but I lost 20lbs over the past year.Whoa, that s weird..Anyway, what I did was-replaced soda with water-walked A LOT, after school, in the mornings, with friends...-did those exercise on demand things.-ate less and healthier foods..

No you need a good protein diet. I had the hardest time loosing weight I found after much research and my doctors recommendation Papayamine. Its 100% natural and very safe.I have lost weight and feel great.http://www.papayamine.com

I know of people that have easily lost 5 pounds a week on the Dr. Bernstein diet. Try to get a copy of it - maybe from a library.

Kudos to you for approaching this in such a mature and healthy way! Lowering your portions is a fantastic start, but you may want to reconsider the consistency of eating part. Eating multiple smaller portions is often the best way to lose weight because you re never getting to that point where you re really hungry...that s when most people tend to overeat or reach for an unhealthy quick fix. You should snack on healthy things like fruit and veggies, and keep those with you at all times so you re not tempted when you re on the road. I always have a granola bar or something healthy in my purse so I can avoid temptation. I also started tracking my food and that made a huge difference! By tracking every bite of food (including when you just grab a few nuts or a bite here, a sip here), you realize how little things add up and it helps to develop healthier habits. Here are some other good tips, I hope these help! Good luck to you! http://buzz.prevention.com/community/ste

In determining a healthy appearance, feel, and lifestyle, simple bodyweight is not necessarily the best indicator. Especially if you start exercising when you have not previously had a routine, or if you suddenly increase your exercise regiment, you may not see a rapid change in weight. This is because as you exercise, your body undergoes muscular and neuronal growth, which may actually increase weight, offsetting any fat loss. This will likely be the case for the first 6-7 weeks or so if you are moving to a more healthy lifestyle that focuses more on exercise. You should slowly start to see more muscle tone at that point, and you WILL become leaner. More immediately, you she see improvement in strength and performance.Dieting is also a dangerous path to follow. Instead, focus on a healthy lifestyle that balances food and exercise. Lean meats and a lot of fruits and veggies will help with that. Try to eat no more than 20% or your daily caloric needs worth of fat in order to lose fatty mass. Especially in our society, carbohydrates often have more to do with weight gain that anything else, so make sure your carbohydrates are complex carbs (whole grains, stone ground, no white bread or rice, or as little as possible). Whole grains keep you more full longer and take longer for your body to digest. They do not create the spikes in blood glucose (BGL) that simple sugars, white flour, or starchy products will. This means that less insulin will be produced by your pancreas after each meal, and therefore less fat will be stored. Another positive effect is that is reduces your risk of diabetes and heart disease. Depending on your goals, your balance of calories will determine how your body changes. If you want to avoid gaining additional weight or lose weight, a good ratio would be something like 40% protein, 40% carbohydrates, and 20% fat. Also make sure to read the labels on any food you buy. They tell you much more than the advertisements like low fat on the front of the box. A long-term lifestyle change that you can maintain will be MUCH for effective that a diet (after dieting, your body tries to return to its original weight, which is very hard to combat).Your weight for your height is within the healthy range. If you want a good way to keep track of it, you can look up or calculate your Body Mass Index, or BMI. Keep in mind, however, that this only applies to people with average muscle mass. As muscle is more dense and heavy than fat, you may appear very lean and be very healthy, but have a BMI that falls into the overweight category. If you work out regularly, this is not unusual, and not necessarily bad. Remember, weight is a very loose guideline for overall health, and healthy weight varies from person to person. The big word for you to remember is commitment. It may take a while, but you should ultimately be very happy with your results, and you will stay that way instead of dieting and relapsing backward every time. Good luck!
