Can exercise jumpstart the Atkins weight loss program? -

Yes it can . I have lost over 45lbs. on this diet .

exercise is good for anyone that wants to lose weight....that said since the adkins diet doesnt allow carbohydrates you may find yourself tiring more easily...because you are only eating protein and proteins dont burn for energy as well as carbohydrates do.....If you are considering adding a exercise regimen while on the adkins diet I would suggest making sure that you eat some carbohydrates so that your body will have enough energy. Carbohydrates turn to sugar in the body and cause it to produce insulin which turns into energy which is needed for everyday life. If you find yourself getting to tired and feeling run down please eat something with carbs in it. Atkins will also have a higher fat content than other diets....because atkins is meat based it will have a higher fat content so watch your calorie intake too if you are trying to lose weight....Good Luck!

OF COURSE!!!!

dumb question

you bet. exercise and a smart diet without the expensive cost of the adkins diet can make you lose weight but dont lose 20 pounds in a week. that would be bad for your health. losing 3 to 5 pounds a week is fine if you lose too much at one time it can cause health problems and will come back.

you betcha

I need help!! Weight Loss Programs?? -

I am 5 9 and a little over 200 pounds, 21 years old. For most of my youth 13-19, I grew up with my dad forcing me to exercise with him and do the atkins diet on and off. Throughout this period of yo-yo dieting, my weight gradually increased from about 140 to 180. I just got married in January and my husband says he wants me to lose weight but that he is not going to be invasive the way my father was. After 8 months of marriage and several little attempts at dieting, I am now up to around 210. I have finally decided for myself that I need to lose weight. My husband says he is willing to pay for any weight loss program I want. My question is: What weight loss programs have any of you tried? Weight Watchers? Nutrisystem. etc? What are the pros and cons? How effective are they? Did you gain any weight back afterwards? Thank you so much!! I really need some advice! Please help! I live in southern California.

Hello.I had struggled with my weight for many, many years. Yes, I have tried many diets, Weight Watchers, Slimming World, The Special K diet, Atkins etc. I did manage to lose considerable amounts of weight on the various diets. But unfortunately, as soon as I stopped dieting and went back to my normal way of eating. All the weight would pile back on, plus more. So I have to say that none of them were effective in the long-term.So just over 2 years ago I came to the conclusion that I would change my lifestyle. I decided to eat a healthy sensible diet and embark on regular exercise. Two things I had never done before. The results were absolutely amazing. I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months. I dropped 4 dress sizes. As I say I have now for over 2 years been able to maintain my weight with ease. This is how I did it.I kept all junk foods, ready made processed meals, alcohol, sugared fizzy drinks, and takeaway meals to an absolute minimum. They are full of refined sugar and full of saturated fat. The two main ingredients which are responsible for those extra pounds. Junk food is just what it says - JUNK. With one added ingredient in - FAT.I included more wholefoods into my diet. Such as brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, beans pulses. These are high in fiber and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.I keep to a low fat diet of:-Lean meats (no fat on) poultry (no skin on), fish with scales on (no batter), eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables (including potatoes - but make sure you keep them plain and simple, low fat dairy products, skimmed milk, non sugary cereals, sugar free beverages.Drink plenty of water, snack on fresh fruit in between meals, try to cut your portion sizes down, and stop eating when you feel full.Yes, I do have a few biscuits, a couple glasses of wine, a small bar of chocolate. But I have these foods in MODERATION ONLY. This is the KEY to KEEPING THE WEIGHT OFF.But really importantly. Try to MOVE as MUCH as YOU CAN. EXERCISE will really help to acelerate your weigh loss. I took up running. Obviously, I had to start of very slowly and gradually built up to it. I now run on a regular basis, also ride my bike regularly, and walk whenever I can instead of jumping in the car or getting on the bus. There is an exercise that suits everyone. The benefits of exercise far outweigh the effort it takes. The body is designed to MOVE.It really is possible to lose weight and keep it off. But you need to make a committment to change your lifestyle. Just by making the right choice in foods you will be surprised how much food you can eat and not feel hungry all the time. As long as you burn more calories than you consume you will manage to lose weight. Consume more calories then you burn and you won t be able to. You have to be patient though. The weight did not go on overnight and it won t come off overnight. Good luck and take care of yourself.I live in London.

My sister has been losing a TON of weight on Weight Watchers. She barely exercises, but she keeps an eye on her portions and makes healthier choices now. She doesn t follow the points exactly, but she does use what she learned with the point system to figure out what and how much she should be eating. Give it a shot!

the first thing to do is STOP LOOKING AT THE SCALE, muscle weighs more than fat. When people start to work out the weight themselves and see the weight go up and give up. Pay attention to the way your clothes fit. Then do some sort of exercise to gain muscle and cardio to loose fat.

Go to Spark People.com. To me it is the best website ever for help in losing weight. It is chock full of recipes, exercise programs, and motivational tips. Good luck with it.

There are many different weight loss programs to try. You need to find one that s right for you. Every program you read about-some people will like it, some people won t. That s because no diet is right for everybody. Are you looking for convenience and minimal food preparation? Then you might want to try one of the meal delivery programs like Medifast or Nutrisystem. They are pretty expensive, though, because you have to pay for the food up front. A lot of people are successful with Weight Watchers, but you have to count points and stay within a certain range. It s a good diet, if you don t mind doing that. It is about $5 per week. There is another good one that is becoming more popular. It is called the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet. You just follow a menu for 11 days, based on foods that you choose. Then you get 3 cheat days. You are eating healthy foods, there is minimal food preparation, and it is only a one time fee of $39.South Beach Diet is a good one too, if you can handle the restrictive 1st phase. The cost is about $5 week. So, there are many different ones to choose, you just have to find what is important for you, and what you think will be best for you to stick with.Good luck!

Losing weight quickly..? -

K, i want to lose like 2 inches off my waist in the next two weeks. Any tips on how to do this? Please dont tell me Eat right and excercise I allready know that. But i want to know what excercise, and how long to do it for. And what to eat, like what if i just ate veggies for two weeks?

Start off your morning with a good breakfast, and do about 100 jumping jacks. Then if you have time, take a warm shower before heading off. Make sure you eat nothing in between your breakfast and lunch and don t eat too much. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. When you get back home, run on a treadmill or outside for about an hour. If you want to get things done quickly, you should walk instead of drive whenever possible and take stairs instead of elevators. A good exercise to do on your free time is sit-ups. Do about 100 of them, as it will build up your abdominals and will replace the fat with muscle.

you need to eat low calorie so cut as much fat from your diet as poss able avoid meat, sugar, oil, eat low or no fat dairy (read the label some low/no fat options contain more calories then the regular option especial dairy) and avoid eating starchy vegetables. For exercise do sprints so run as fast as you can for 30 seconds then walk at a medium pace for 30 or so seconds to recover then do it again (this is much more effective than just running) and exercises like sit ups that taget your waist line wouldn t hurt either. try exercising first thing in the morning before breakfast (so that your burning your bodies energy not the energy from the food that you have just eaten) then eat breakfast afterwards because anything you eat for about 30min after exercise is burnt straight away by your muscles.

Exercise an hour a day and only eat raw foods (fruit and veggie) Drink lots of water.Read the book Fit For Life by Harvey Diamond. Awesome book, great results.

well, take a medicine balland do 70 v-ups [[ lie on the ground hands extended over head (holding the med ball), then bring your legs up with your arms and touch your feet.))after one day, you could see the start of muscles and shiz like that.

no carbs at all...nada, just meat and veggies n fruit, no carbs..and run at least a mile a day...eat 2000 calories but of everything but carbs...you can have nuts, but almonds only after u run.

Do weight loss programs like jenny craig nutrisystem really work? -

i ve seen their commercials and always wondered. They have stuff like pasta, pizza and icecream. How is this supposed to help you lose weight?10points

Both the Jenny Craig and the Nutrisystem works. They teach you how to eat right. With the Jenny Craig you have to fix your own meals and you meat regularly with a counselor, all this can become expensive. The Nutrisystem delivers your meals to you. This once again makes it very expensive. It is very convenient though, because it keeps you from just eating anything if you get home late and hungry. I find those are the times I just eat anything I can lay my hand on and if the meal is already there, you will probably eat it. This will prevent a lot of cheating. What is important here is that they both work because they teach you how to eat the correct food in the correct proportions. Food is not the problem, it is how much, how it is prepared and the right meal plans that is important. You should be able to get hold of cheaper plans that will give you the same benefit. It is nice though, having the correct meals delivered and if you can afford it, I would say go for it. You are sure to lose weight if you stick to it.I ve read a good quote somewhere it goes like this: Which is the best weight loss diet? The one you stick to! Unfortunately that is the point. As long as a diet consists of healthy, well balanced meals, any one will do. If you go to the two sites below you will find more info on a wide variety of diets and then you can make an informed decision of which one is right for you.

I suppose any system of weight loss will work if you stick with it long enough and follow the rules and guidelines. If your trying to loose weight, there s no reason why you can t eat pasta, pizza or icecream. It s all about portion control. Rather than choosing to down a 12 pizza yourself...just have a slice, and ask for non fat cheese, whole wheat dough, and healthier toppings. For pasta, there s yummy whole wheat pastas out there that can be topped with diced tomatoes rather than coated in spaghetti sauce. And ice cream...why not allow yourself a treat :) Just because your dieting doesn t mean that you cannot treat yourself to something small. It s like a reward for being good, and doing what s right.Jenny Craig will cost about $400.00 a month and the first 1/2 of it, you have to buy their pre-packaged foods. The 2nd half your able to cook your own meals. I m not too sure about nutrisystem. I do know that both are based on portion control.Good Luck!

What foods are a great source of protein for weight loss program and how much is recommended per meal? -

I have lost weight over the past year by changing eating habits and exercising. I m looking to set better eating habits but need help with the right foods. I hate to cook. :)

yogurt is said to be good. look at the serving size on the back of the container (usually 1/2 to 1 cup) or buy the single serving size.

The best protein to eat is salmon the size of a deck of cards. Portions are very small, like the size of the palm of your hand. Tofu is also good but almost tasteless.

Losing weight quickly!!? -

hi there since christmas i have managed to lose 13kg and now weigh 69kg although my bmi is now ok i wouldn t feel comfortable on the beach until i lost another 5kg. i am going on holiday next month and need to shed this 5kg really quickly any hints tips would be greatly appreciated.

hi..even if you dont have time for exercising, as we all know it s best to do also.. try 2-3 oz. of protein every 3 hrs. fill yourself up on a salad, and the proteins ( hard boiled egg whites ), chicken /turkey pieces.. yes fruits too. vegies too.all moderation. .if you head to store.. park a lil distance awy, as long as its safe , all those extra steps will help your body cooperate with you :) happines salways . and remember, be yourself, dont compare yourself to others... stay happy always .plze dont try the cabbage soup, or atkins. they are quick fixes, and you gain more back.

You need to cut sugar completely from your diet. Don t add sugar to anything. Don t eat anything that is naturally high in sugar like fruit and fruit juice, corn etc. Drink only bottled water. Eat very low or no-fat food. Don t eat late at night. Eat lots of veggies and drink veggie drinks (eg. V8) whenever you are hungry. Eat chicken breast for protein. DON T STARVE YOURSELF.As far as exercise is concerned, walking long distances is a good start. Find a sport that you like and stick with it.

How do i lose weight quickly? -

im a freashman and theres a huge spring break trip planned and its coming up really soon. i would like to lose about ten pounds very quickly? whats the best, healthiest way to do this?

I found this on Yahoo HealthI hope it helpsIt is a time-honored tradition to make resolutions at this time of year. If your resolution is to lose weight - and keep it off, then keep reading! Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.1. Lose weight with water.Water is essential for everybody - it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven t been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.2. Soup up your weight loss program.A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don t eat soup. Go for homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.3. Eat early to keep weight off.The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet. Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don t last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function - not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.Eat more green, chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.6. Walk off the weight. The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.I hope this article helps you shed some pounds and add on the years!
