What bothers me also is that when you type in a question it comes up with similar ones, so cant they just read those instead of asking the same thing over and over. Education is not a major limitation to weight loss in most people. It food habits, eating out, lifestyle etc. Everyone knows that fad diets work short term, and you will gain it back. But they are after a quick fix. If I say healthy weight loss that can be maintained is 0.5-1kg, I get harassed, and thumbs down. They just don t want to know, its like shutting your ears to everything except what you want to hear. Good advice wont make a difference, they wont listen. When they are ready to lose weight properly they can see a doctor/ dietitian and they will lose the weight. But people who want quick fixes aren t serious about weight loss. They know its unhealthy, they aren t stupid, they just don t want to hear it. So telling them so wont make a difference.
i agree 100% with Ella too...it seems to me that when people ask here the same old question over and over again, its as though different age groups have different methods of losing weight?oh come on,all those fad diets just aim at burning muscle, not even a significant amount of fat at all...and they still wanna do it?the average homo sapien can only burn 2-4 pounds of fat per week, even under professional guidance and supervision..so why aim at losing beyond 12 lbs /month if you know any more than that its just muscle and water?in addition to the right combination of exercises and a low fat low carb portion controlled diet, faith and discipline is equally vital..yoga/pilates and dance videos are available online, and you can create your own diet at the comfort of your own home and do a daily 45 minute brisk walking routine at the comfort of your own neighbourhood, all for free!
I have a healthy weight loss tip: Listen to motivational music! If you listen to music geared toward weight loss, then you will be constantly reminded of your weight loss goal, and hopefully can help fight the temptation for that extra cookie. I have been referred to SkinnySongs. http://www.skinnysongs.com It s been on the Martha Stewart show too, so you can believe it s Martha approved!
I agree. And whats even more fustrating is you try and tell them the healthy way to lose weight, but you know they are going to listen to the moron that has no clue, saying, yeah, this is how to lose it real fast.
I ve wondered the same thing. People are quick to say, Lose 60 pounds in a month? Sure, no problem.
I highly agree with Ella L
