How to lose weight around love handles and stomach? -

I am 16, 118 lbs, and obviously a girl. I am also 5 6 if that helps. I wanna lose about 5-6 lbs in total of fat around my stomach and love handles. My mom told me to just exercise and do sit-ups, but is there any easier way? Also what should I do for my love handles? I just want some what of a good bathing suit body.
