Okay number one you do not need to lose weight according to my assumptions I made with a BMI calculate (link below if you want to fill in the information that is incorrect to get a more accurate answer) I am also a cheerleader and being the flyer isn t everything and it certainly isn t worth you health and possibly your life. You BMI is on the lower end of the spectrum on healthy weight and by even losing a little you will be in the underweight zone which is seriously dangerous! But when tryouts do come remember to smile, have fun, yell from your diafram, keep tight motions, and practice all the matieral presented to you. Make sure you streach and start practicing now to make sure you have clean motions, jumps, dancing, and of corse tumbling. Best of Luck!
5 3 and 102lbs? You re perfect! You don t need to lose any weight. Here is the best advice you ll ever get:What you need to do is tone up your muscles and build stamina. Any aerobic activity will help. Running is good. Some calisthenics and light weight lifting will help too. Don t forget to warm up first and also do some stretching. It takes weeks to see results, not days, so start now, you ve still got time. Also, go to a health club and talk to a trainer. They ll probably be happy to give you free advice on what s best to get you tuned up , including diet. Losing weight on a crash program and starving yourself will only have negative results, and they will tell you that. One more thing...attitude is more important than anything else. Be happy, positive and act naturally. Don t pretend to be friendly...be friendly! Don t pretend to care...really care. And be supportive of others...don t focus just on yourself. If you help others do better, you will do better, and more important you ll be seen as a team player .And don t dwell on negative thoughts. Negative emotions yield negative results; positive emotions yield positive results. Stop thinking you re over weight right now. That s hugely negative.Another useful hint...you can practice cheerleading moves in your mind. It has been proven for real in all sports that going over the moves in detail in your mind is almost as good as practicing for real, and if you do both then you ll excel. Downhill skiiers do it, marshall artists do it, aerobatic pilots do it, ballet dancers do it, basketball players do it. They wouldn t if it didn t work. Visualize. See and feel the moves as you think them through. This is a form of meditation and takes practice; it doesn t come naturally, but you will notice almost immediate results after a few sessions. And while you re at it, practice visualizing what it s like being selected to join the squad too! Some call it day dreaming , but it is a lot more than that if you make it so.
