Nothing. There is ZERO benefit to walking with weights in your hands. If anything, you re going to end up injuring yourself because it simply isn t natural. Any additional calories burned would be negligible and aren t worth it when you consider the additional health risks (e.g. joint injury). If you want to burn more calories pick up the intensity, walk up a hill, start jogging, etc. Another trick to help you lose weight a little quicker, try doing your cardio first thing in the morning (before breakfast). Try this for about a week and then alternate back and forth between first thing in the morning and your normal routine. Good luck.
It will build muscle and strength.
i dont know if it will help you lose weight faster but you are using another muscle group when you walk and use hand weights, so that in itself is good!! good luck and just keep moving!!!
builds muscles
It burns a bit more calories and can help develop a little bit of muscle, as well. It adds resistance to your walk - similar to, but not quite the same as walking up hills.
