yoga ,
you are losing muscle mass!its not safe to lose more than 1 kilo a week...starting from the time you break your fast(around 7pm right?) till the Imsak(if im not mistaken its about 5am the next morning) eat lots of fruits, oatmeal, raw nuts and salads every 3 hours...go for a 30 minute walk in between too...you will lose weight and tone up gradually...God bless you
That s because your body is going into starvation mode and it s storing whatever you re eating as fat.You will be fine once the fasting is over...Good luck!---
Starvation response is kicking in. It s like this with any low calorie dieting. It initially works very well. Weight literally flies off. (18 pounds in 10 days is a lot). However, after doing this for prolonged periods, your body perceives a state of starvation, whether or not you are intentionally doing it is irrelevant. Your body will respond in the same way. What happens is that it will start to down regulate certain hormones that will in turn affect your metabolic rate. When you re on severe caloric restriction, your body will want to preserve itself as long as possible to ensure survival. In an environment of low or extremely low calories (like what you re doing), the last thing the body wants to do is to expend more energy. Thus, to conserve it s limited resources, it will LOWER your metabolic rate. This is why the same diet will never work forever. Your body adjusts it s metabolic rate according to intake, amongst other things. Now, there are many things you can do to boost your metabolic rate. But since you re fasting, many options are out.The best advice I can give you is to load up on protein and fibre. Here is the explanation:Protein - This macronutrient will ensure that your muscles are being preserved as much as possible. This is a good thing because the last thing you want to lose is muscle. When you re fasting 12 hours a day, you will be losing a little muscle. What you want to do is to eat a high protein diet to encourage a positive nitrogen balance. This will ensure that muscle catabolism is kept to a minimum.Fibre - Eat a lot of fibre just before sunrise. The reason is that fibre passes through your gut very slowly. This will keep you full (at least somewhat) throughout the day till sunset. Then you can eat again. One other suggestion, try taking some casein protein before sunrise too. This is a very slow digesting protein that will keep your muscles fueled throughout the day while you re fasting.
