Question about dieting? -
I weigh 160 lbs. and I want to lose weight to be healthier. I was on an extreme diet of only 500 calories a day, but after becoming educated, I realized how unhealthy that is. However, what if I gradually increased my caloric intake so I can lose weight quickly but still not have the yo-yo effect, for example, increasing to 750 calories (with exercise) until I lose another 10 lbs., then increasing to 1,000 calories (with exercise) until I lose another 10 lbs., then eating 1,500 calories? Will this still cause the yo-yo effect? And if this is still unhealthy, how can I increase my caloric intake to a healthy level but still not gain weight? I m receiving a lot of mixed messages, for example, that the only reason the yo-yo effect takes place is because people very quickly increase their calories, but then some say that you will gain weight no matter what blah blah blah.
