if you have a lot to lose then you are gona lose more in first few weeks, but healthy is to lose not more than 1-2lbs a week.

1-2.5 lbs is safest. It also depends on how overweight you are and how active you have been recently. If you are 100 lbs overweight and are just trying to start exercising and eating right you may loose more at first. But if you are 20 lbs overweight and have an active, healthy lifestyle, you might only loose 1 lbs a week. Also keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are working out, especially weight lifting, you won t loose weight as quickly.
