How to lose weight if you have mild cerebal palsy? -

my friend is a little overweight, but has mild cp. the cp only really affects active activities like running, and doing these activities really hurts my friend. how should my friend go about losing weight if he s unable to run without his legs hurting like hell? is there any other active exercises that would allow him to lose weight?
