What are some good tips for exercising that will help lose weight faster? -

18 and looking for some ideas on how to loose weight... I joined a gym and just want some ideas so I can loose about 60 lbs. I want to be at 140. Thanks!

The best way to lose weight is to combine healthy eating habits with a workout regimen. By eating healthier foods (which are less in calories than unhealthy foods) and by controling portion sizes, you ll automatically be able to eat a reduced calorie diet. Try eating 5-6 small meals per day instead of 3 large ones, which will also boost your metabolism. If you re going to count calories, try limiting your intake to about 1200-1500 calories per day.For the workout, I recommend starting out at 30-45 minutes per day of cardio (eliptical, stairclimber, treadmill, etc...) for 4-5 days per week, and add in 2 days of strength training (lifting 2-5 pound weights). By lifting light weights, you ll increase your muscle mass, and since muscle burns fat as fuel, you ll also get leaner, quicker. After the first 3-4 weeks, try increasing your cardio to 60-90 minutes per day, for 5-6 days per week, and also increase your weight training to 3 days per week, for about 30 minutes each day.If you stick with this healthy eating and workout routine, you should start to lose about 2-5 pounds per week, or about 8-20 pounds per month (depending on your current activity level and eating habits). Overall, you should reach your goal weight within about 4-8 months, but that all depends on how hard you work.

60 lbs is a lot of weight to lose. Chances are you won t be able to lose that much by just exercising. You re going to have to drastically change your diet too. Drink 2 L of water throughout the day, try and eat 6-8 small meals that are low in fat (fat slows down your metabolism). And make dinner your lightest meal of the day (your metabolism peaks in the morning/afternoon and then completely drops at night - this is where so many people make the mistake of eating late night snacks which is SO bad for you). Switch to whole grain breads and crackers, cut out all sodas, juices, etc and just drink water. And for exercise - anything that gets your heart rate up will burn the most fat - jogging or fast paced walking or aerobics at least 30 mins, crunches and other excercises will build your muscle but they won t get rid of the fat nearly as quickly as cardio.

Interval training.-------------------------------------- Researchers from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) have found an easier way of getting off those extra kilos you may have gained over the holiday season. The group which did around eight seconds of sprinting on a bike, followed by 12 seconds of exercising lightly for twenty minutes, lost three times as much fat as other women, who exercised at a continuous, regular pace for 40 minutes, --------------------------------------Also Google tabata for another good interval training regimen.

do some strength training at the gym it burns alot of calories and at least 30 minutes of cardio , cut out junk food and soft drinks will save you an enormous amount of calories, drink green tea it boosts you and is great for you ,snack on fresh fruits and veggies, little things make a lot of difference and drink plenty of water because it flushes out the excess water , so you get rid of water weight better

for a workable diet - here is what my dietician suggests - follow a practical diet. start your meal with a soup or a huge salad. this fills u up. Make sure your plate has this ratio - 50% veg, 25% carb(potatoes, corn and peas come in carbs category), 25% protein.this will prevent cravings too.an occassional treat is OK. have a snack every three hours. fruit (ideally berries) or soy nuts. just 2 tbsp of soya subsides hunger pangs. switch from white rice and bread to brown. eat 900gms of veggies a day.Lose a kilo a week. that is permanent loss. pick an exercise regime you like. get a pedometer and try to take 10,000 steps everyday.

this isn t exercising, but don t eat alot of bread and try not to lose a ton of weight all at once. good luck!

Eat low fat, low sugar, low saltMove more, that s all it takes
