Can a quot;crash dietquot; be beneficial, or at least not unhealthy, if...? -

...after the desired weight is lost, one eases back into normal eating habits (that is to say, the amount of calories per day required to balance out the number burned) gradually? I know that crash diets (dramatically reducing food intake in order to lose weight quickly) are regarded as unhealthy, and from what I ve gathered, this is for two reasons: (1) You can t possibly get all of the nutrients your body requires on only 500-1000 calories per day. (2) Eating little slows down your metabolism; thus, when you start eating more again, you will rapidly gain the weight you lost back.Fact 1 can t be counteracted, but I would argue that the average person does not consume an ideal quantity of nutrients in the first place. What if the dieter, by watching his or her diet, actually *increases* his or her daily intake of vitamins, minerals, etc., even while consuming fewer calories than what he or she was previously used to, by choosing healthful meals and eliminating the empty calories that he or she previously gained from unhealthy meals?My main question is about fact 2. When researching how unhealthy fad diets were, the prevailing argument seemed to be, Once you start eating normally again, you ll gain all the weight back. But couldn t you avoid that by easing back into a healthy intake of calories (say, 1800/day whereas you were consuming 500-1000/day during your diet) gradually? Especially if you couple this with increasing exercise, it seems that you would actually *benefit* your metabolic rate in so doing. Does anyone have any evidence to the contrary, or any input at all?

First point can be addressed by taking vitamins etcSecond point - no there is no way around this, easing back you will still put on a disproportionate amount of fat, due to the loss in muscle, and decrease in metabolism. Also your body releases a hormone called leptin when you are effectively starving on a crash diet, and this makes your body suck up any fat you eat and store it more effectively.

the key is just don t do anything rapidly.... eat normal then eat little by little gradually... maintain this little meals (of course while exercising) until desired weight is gained... then start increasing your meal again to normal gradually...

Which diet pills actually work? -

I have been looking for a diet pill that actually works and could possibly help me lose weight quickly. I run everyday for at least 20 minutes, and I do ab exercises, along with going to the gym, and eating healthy. Nothing seems to be helping anymore and I still could lose almost 20 or 30 pounds. If anyone knows of something that is available in stores it would really help. I have ordered things offline before but won t do it again. I researched hydroxycut max, slimquick, and metabolife but I don t want to spend alot of money if I m not sure it will help.

Diet pills are mostly a psychological crutch. Most have some sort of stimulant. If you believe the hype, they might work a little while.Pick one and try it. If it doesn t work, try another one. That s why there are so many varieties on the market.If there was a really effective diet pill, we d all be popping it, be at ideal weight, and cruising somewhere else.Weight control is a matter of calorie limitation boosted with exercise. If you want to get into the best shape of your life, I recommend p90x to you. I am on this exercise and diet plan right now, and so far it is working great. You can even go on youtube and look up p90x success stories of people that have gone through the program, and the results are fantastic! If you really want more information about this, I recommend going to the actual website. It is not a hoax, it is very real,and I am in the process of doing it right now. How can I lose weight quickly -

I ve had type 1 diabetes since I was 7 years old, now I m 17 so I know how to take care of myself and such. I m not overweight, but I want to lose a few because I am bigger than most of my friends...I exercise, I eat pretty healthy, and my blood sugar levels are good. Why can t I lose weight? Any suggestions?

If your at a healthy weight I dont know why you would want to lose more weight.If you must I have a few tips:1. Do more exercise in Sets Reps, you can do alot more that one istead of full on without breaks.2. Cut out all junk food to maximise your workout.3. Do it all in proportion, dont over do it or you ll burn out.

Go consult your doctors before anything especially since you have type 1 diabetes you dont want to put your health at risk. But honestly talk to your doctor im sure she or he will have plenty of suggestions and recommendations that will be safe to your health and wont affect negativelly your diabetes. Run! Its the best way to lose weight the fastest and get into awsome shape. It uses a large majority of your muscles and keeps you in constatnt intense excerise. And you dont have to worry about eating habits, you will be hittting any fat deposits and breaking them down as you run so you ll be constantly breaking down what you eat if you run frequently. Try to stay off pavement its tough on your knees but running on tracks or grass like fields or parks is awsome. STAY OFF TREADMILLS. They do nothing for you and destroy your knees, you need to be on like a 6 incline going 8 to even come close to replicating real running. Thats all i got so, hope it helps and good luck

as soon as you wrote I want to lose a few because I am bigger than most of my friends i thought oh no...dont change yourself because of your friends, we are all different and you cant change that. if you exercise and eat healthy and have good blood sugar levels, that indicates that you are a physically healthy person. you dont need to lose weight because of our friends....tell me, if your friends all got their noses pierced, would you do that too??be an individual and strong...if you want to change then change for yourself and not for others...

do some yoga ; I ve lost lots of weight but remember it took you awhile to gain the weight and wont come off in a week.also do lots of cardio. try 30 mins in the morning and 45 after school. walking, biking, etc.eat lots of protein (meat, eggs, tofu)and veggies and limited bread. if you do eat bread make sure its whole wheat same with wraps. stay away from potatoes and for your veggies stick to outer ground things ( no beets, carrots, etc)drink nothing but water or tea.hope this helps!

Type one diabetes comes with a thing (forget the name) that makes that sometimes makes the body seem rounder than it is. It usually only happens in the stomach area and the limbs seem smaller because of it.I suggest you exercise more often. There is no quick way to lose weight.

strength training really is the answer. Muscle requires more calories (energy) to sustain its existence. Fat doesn t require energy it just sits there. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn just moving around.

Dont worry about your weight it does not matter how your friends or you look.

How much weight do you have to lose to have excess skin? -

I m around 5 4 - 5 5 and weigh 170lbs and I m 18 years old. I ve just started a healthy weight loss program and my goal weight is around 110 - 120lbs, I m just wondering if I will likely have excess skin after that much weight loss??

You won t have any excess skin, that is a big misconception that alot of people have. Excess skin happens when someone gets lyposuction or any kind of surgery...like the lap band. They end up losing weight so fast that their skin doesn t have time to mold with their body.Now if you re on a healthy weight loss program and you are working out, your skin will have plenty of time to mold with your body and you won t end up with the excess skin. So that s a REALLY good thing! My sister lost 70 lbs healthy diet and excersise and 0 excess skin so I know from personal experience.
