Has anybody tried Atkins diet and would you suggest it is worth trying? -

I am looking to start a weight-loss program and have heard that the Atkins diet is very effective.

I tried the Atkins diet for two weeks and found that indeed I did lose some weight. However it is hard to eat so much meat and protein and the side-effects I experienced included dizziness and constipation. As with any diet it is only as good as the willpower of the person doing it. Most doctors would advise that sensible eating combined with plenty of regular exercise is the best way to maintain a healthy weight and that a long-term diet is easy to keep to his better than any fad that. Instead, alternative programs such as supplements are far more better than that as long as it is ephedrin free and made of natural ingredients like Lipodrene, Thermadrol, etc.

Don t you know how Dr. Adkins died?? If you are trying to loose weight you need to eat fresh foods, plenty of fruits veggies you have to exercise. Check out www.sparkpeople.com for some tips, recipies, ideas support.

So is cutting off an arm. That doesn t make it a good idea. Balanced diet, restrict calories, exercise.

The Adkins diet is effective, however you should talk with your doctor first before starting any weight loss program. Also with Adkins watch your cholesterol it will sky rocket being as your main foods will be meat, eggs and cheeses. My mom does it and she has lost alot of weight, and in order for her cholesterol to stay in check, every month she goes off of the diet for about a week and a half. Good Luck

Dr. Atkins death had nothing to do with the diet he recommended. He fell on an icy sidewalk and bumped his head. The Atkins diet is very effective, if you re very disciplined about it. If you cheat on it routinely, it won t work. I lost 40 lbs in a matter of months when I stuck to it.

i was never on it but somebody i know was , and i wouldn t try it cause u really can t eat anything good like bread or anything with carbs really, and even if u do do it right u will lose weight fast but gain right back again, if ur looking for a good weight loss plan with long term results then I d say weight watchers, u can eat what u want and still lose weight and keep it off i did it 2 years ago and it works

My nephew and his wife tried this diet. My nephew lost a lot of weight and his wife did not. This diet requires eating a lot of meat and no carbs (at least for awhile). It may have its good points to it as many people claim, but there are an equal number of people who claim it is harmful. I would ask your doctor or someone from a gym if you work out, and see what they say about it. I personally, believe that if you can t eat your basic healthy foods that our bodies are designed to be able to eat and be healthy with, then there is something wrong with that kind of logic. Eating an excessive amount of one type of healthy food while denying yourself another type of healthy food just doesn t seem very healthy to me. Of course this is my own opinion, but as I said, my nephew lost weight while his wife did not. Perhaps this diet is not as effective for women as it is for me. I don t know, since I personally have never tried it.

sheesh...there s nothing radical about the Atkins diet. You re simply limiting or avoiding sugars, starches and grains..food your body was not designed to digest...contrary to what this corrupt food industry will tell you.

I have used the Atkins diet in the past. Although you will see significant weight loss at first, it is not sustainable. The diet also made me feel ill all the time, and had many unpleasant side effects. It was not something that I could have kept up for any significant period of time. You will be much better off adopting a plan of eating more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein, adding in some exercise, and avoiding highly processed foods. All food groups have a place in a healthy diet, the key is to eat them in moderation. If you are looking for a healthful, proven weight loss program, I would suggest Weight Watchers. You can join in person or online (I believe online is less expensive). It is a much more sensible, long-term program.

There is a lot of controversy as to whether low carb diets are good for you. But I haven t seen anything definitive that states that it is bad. I have done it before, and it works very well. The biggest problem with low carb dieting is conforming it in your everyday life. It is very hard to find foods low in carbs, especially processed foods. most of what you will be eating, especially in the first stages of the diet, you will have to prepare yourself. On the plus side though, Bacon.
