2 1/2 years ago I wanted to lose about 30 lbs. After doing research on a lot of diets, I found only 1 that really had a lot of scientific support. It is called Calorie Restriction (CR for short) and has only 2 rules:1. Cut your calories significantly (20% to 30%)2. Make sure you get 100% of your nutritional needs.You can eat anything you want, as long as it fits within those rules.I lost 1 to 2 lbs per week . In fact, I had to up my calories to keep from losing faster than that, which would be unhealthy. I lost the 30 lbs and I have kept the weight off.The hard part of CR is tracking your calories and nutrition. I carry around a piece of paper and jot down what I eat soon after I eat it, so I don t forget, which is easy to do. Then each day or so, I add up all the calories and nutrients. It is a pain. Cutting calories without good nutrition is unhealthy.The thing about the diet is that scientists and companies are interested in it because it not only makes animals much healthier (much less heart disease, cancer, etc), it makes them live longer. In the case of rats and mice, 20% to 30% longer. No one knows if this will happen in humans yet, but the health benefits for humans show up pretty quickly, too (lowered cholesterol, lower LDL, lower weight, etc).
