How to lose weight? -

I have a friend and my mom that weighs over 200 pounds. What is a good way for them to lose weight? And no not drugs or the things you have to pay for. Any help would be wonderful.

Hi,First of all they have to want to lose weight in order to be successful.Losing weight is necessary for maintaining your health.Try to get them to eat Whole Foods examples below:Fresh fruits and vegetables ( steamed or raw is better)Whole grain products ( whole wheat bread, rice and pasta)Fish and skinless chicken ( to flavor use no salt added spices)Avoid red meat it is harder to digest and is higher in fat.cut back on sugars, fats and do NOT eat processed or refined foods. ( frozen dinners, canned vegetables etc.)Walk 20 - 30 minutes every day 3 times a day.Good LuckAny Questions you can email me at ruth39mercer@yahoo.ca

take your regular portioned meal that you normally eat and cut it in half. in addition to that take a walk everyday. and gradually make the walk longer, also lifting weights is very effective, and easy because u can do them almost anywhere. hope i helped and good luck to your mom and your friend.ps. eat NOTHING with trans fat in it. eat good food.

Diet and exercise has worked for me. If they have health insurance, some policies allow you to visit a nutritionist. It often helps you get started. Also, you don t need to go to the gym to get exercise. Enjoying the outdoors is one way. Also, some public schools who have tracks allow people to use them. The hardest part is being consistent. Supporting your mom friend makes a big difference. Maybe the family all eating healthy food together and eating healthily with your friend. Also doing it with someone else helps. If your friend and mom get along, maybe they could do things together. Or you could do things with them.

Weight Watchers is recommened by alot of doctors.

Easy eat healthy and excerise is the best way. Crunches, push ups, yoga ect.

well my granddaughter was well over 200 pounds and decided to change her ways. she is now a vegetarian and since the new year she has lost over 70 pounds. her mentality is this, the time will pass whether i lose weight or not so why not try to change myself in that time. she could have went thru a weight reduction operation, but we decided she would still have to watch what she ate and exercise SO why bother being cut? besides when you learn to control your self that will help you in all aspects of your life/ your friends will only lose weight if they really want to. not just cry and say they want to, like any addiction you have to want the change deep within or it s just a waste of time.

less fat, less sugar, correct carbs, eat less, exercise...........

I ve lost 26 pounds in the past year by just walking everyday and not eating between meals or after supper. It works but it takes a little time. You don t put weight on overnight, and you can t take it off overnight either.

Cardio, Cross training.Basically what it comes down to is you need to burn off more calories then you take in on a daily basis. Best step is trying to reduce your calorie intake by about 250-500 calories. Doing that alone will make you NOT gain an extra 50-75 pounds a year.
