Is it okay to do Long Distance running after 25 minutes of HIIT to lose weight? -

Okay, so I heard HIIT (high intensity interval training) is more effective in burning fat and boosting ur metabolism....people tell me to do HIIT for like 20mins but i want to lose weight fast..can i do long distance running at slow jogging pace for 45 mins afterwards or is it bad?

My personal opinion would be that if you feel you have to run in conjunction with HIIT then you d do better to run first. Then again if you do it right you could just extend your HIIT session and sod the running!

I have used it for 2 weeks straight one time. What hiit does is burn all your glycogen first , then all it has left is fat to burn the rest of the day, so I would run after hiit. I did. I lost 4/lbs a week, a total of 8 in those two weeks. And they were mostly Fat lbs I burned. Hiit does that to you Report Abuse

I know you want to lose weight fast but they say you are far, far less likely to rebound and gain it back if you lose no more than 2-3 pounds per week. If you your goal is to lose a lot of weight this 2-3 pounds rule will also make that excess skin a smaller amount also because, with exercise, you are giving the skin more time to shrink back (it has some elastic properties you know).

I was reading this and the posts and the posts are all wrong! Do not listen! Do not do acai or these adverts here.do not run long distance first like one post said.do what your are doing because hiit is mainly this-u don t burn much fat with it the reason it will cause weight loss is because it elevates heart rate which will mean you will burn fat for hours after the exercise-this is called EPOC.the reason though that it won t burn much fat is because your body has something called glycogen which is your main energy source that comes from carbs and with short intense cardio you deplete all your glycogen and once its depleted you will burn fat and it will take about 20 minutes to deplete glycogen with intense exercise like hiit then after that when you do long distance your body will burn only fat during that session if you do it the other way around you will do long distance and afterwards you will still have some glycogen and you will burn fat only halfway through hiit and altogether you will burn more fat if you do hiit first...and by the way don t stop doing hiit now because it doesn t burn fat..it will help alot because after it when you eat your body will use most of those calories to fill up glycogen instead of storing it as fat leading to a greater calorie deficit.
