Why isnt my eating plan working? -

Stats- 16, female, 143 lbs, 5 7 Im becoming very frustrated.. I have taken to heart all of the healthy advice I ve read everywhere, and made a conscious lifestyle change long ago instead of going on a diet .I eat about 5 times a day, average around 1800 calories, eat ALL my fruits and veggies, exercise for about an hour everyday with Sunday off..But I don t seem to be losing weight! Ive built so many healthy habits, in hopes of losing fat and toning up.. I see people around me going on low carb diets and such to lose weight quickly and it WORKS.. I know it will come back in the long run, but it s so hard to motivate myself when my weight is not budging and Im supposed to be doing the right thing.I am not a body-obsessed teenager willing to go to any length to become 90 lbs, I just want to be fit and toned. Maybe lose 10 lbs at most, but more importantly shed fat and inches. Any helpful advice?

May be you have started only recently.. and, to be honest, when I was 16 and I also used to do those things it didn t work either. However now I m pretty good looking. May be it is also the age and hormones whirling around..And if you are working out, you may not change your weight simply because you are building muscle mass wich replaces the fat. Better do not rely much on the scales, but buy some jeans, a couple sizes smaller than you can wear now, and if they start fitting you this will show you you ve lost fat.

Don t get discouraged. How long have you been doing this? When you work out your body retains water to hydrate your muscles, which adds weight when you weigh yourself. Also, muscles weigh more then fat. Just keep at it, and know that all your hard work will pay off and you will have a beautiful toned figure. Good Luck!!

Kel s you just made me your BIGGEST fan!!! I Love it! ALL your friends will FAIL. It s a mathematical certaintly. They will gain back what they loose, and then some. It s basic arithmatic.Yea.. NO diets! (high five!) My suggestion: To loose fat, you need to do lots of cardio workouts. Yea.. the tough ones. It takes time. too. There is no rush though. The more intense your cardio, the more fat you will burn. get yourself a heart-rate watch, and check yourself. Make sure your in the zone during your workings. If you re not in the zone -you won t burn fat.Body doesnt run on exersize. It runs on fuel. Eat clean. Veggies, fruits (i love dry fruits as a snack), Clean protiens. Whole grains . Do drink a lot -- but choose ONLY water. Flavors drinks (even diet drinks and energy drinks) are pure evil!!! Think gatoraide is good for you? think again. It s NOT. Thing 40% carb, 40% protein, 20% fats in all. Monitor THIS over calories. After all -- 6 snickers bars is 1800 calaries. It doesnt make it a healthy diet. We got a rule at our house about what we eat. If the first 4 ingredients have the words: Sugar, hydrogenated, high fructose, or modifed -- we dont even buy it. If fact, anything that says modified or hydrogenated is awful for you. stay far far away from this crap. lastly - check out Beachbody.com. I do P90X (very extreme) but they have P90 and 10-minute workout too. These programs work to loose fat, build muscle. My 8-pack abs don t lie.

The only thing I can really think of is that your eating too many carbs? If most of your meals are based around carbs it would take longer for you to shed the pounds. And eating 1800 calories a day would also make weight loss a little bit slower putting you at a weight loss of around 1/2 a pound a week. But with the workout everyday if you really are working out an hour 6 days a week that would burn about 1lb a week. So if your not losing 1.5lbs a week, try getting more protein into your diet and lifting weights if your not already to speed up your metabolism. Hang in there, it will be worth it.
