Why is it so expensive for an obese person to participate in a weight loss program? -

If you want to get the best benefits from most commercial programs...that are available today, spas, gyms, diet and nutrition programs, etc. you have to pay a small fortune to participate.I would give anything to lose 150 pounds, and have tried numerous ways to do so...but cannot afford the programs or gyms, etc. to assist. Is there a better way?

If you would give anything to lose this weight then start making a plan and stick with it:1. Get a physical from your doctor informing him that you want to lose weight.2. Find a local community gym that is free. If not, find a gym that is close to where you live and join. Or you can start out by just walking daily without joining a gym. This might be frightful to you because you are big and may feel that others are looking at you............WHO CARES !3. 150 pounds to lose is a lot of weight. You may need to see a counselor to find out why you are addicted to food while losing the weight.4. You need to buy a book on binge eating/food addiction so that you can find out what type of relationship you have with food. Please keep in mind the following:You already know how to lose weight. You know that if you eat less and exercise more eventually youll see the pounds come off. Whats getting in your way? Why do you usually regain the weight you lost? The answer to all these questions is the same Emotional Eating. Simply defined, emotional eating means you eat to satisfy emotional hunger; it means you use food for comfort or as a way to cope with life; and it means you eat for reasons other than what your body needs. Whenever you reach for a boredom-breaking snack despite your commitment, or whenever you eat to quell anxiety, thats emotional eating. Whenever you binge after a fight, or double up on portions because your day turned sour, thats emotional eating. Whenever you feel that sharp craving for your favorite food, thats emotional eating. When we eat during these times while on a diet, we believe the diet doesnt work or that we lack self control and then look for the quickest way to lose weight (fasting/diet pills, ect) after eating all we can since we already messed the diet day up. Get control of your emotional eating and any diet will work. Best of Luck !Diets do workDiets can work but because we know so little about ourselves and our relationship with food, it makes it difficult to win the battle. A lot of us have problems with dieting because we have a problem called emotional eating we eat to comfort ourselves during difficult, stressful, sad, etc times in our lives. You may experience all those emotions during dieting as we continuously get on the scale hoping to see a big difference in numbers after dieting only for a day or two. Also what is stressful when dieting is that we try to lose a large number of weight in such a short period of time which in most cases is unreasonable. This all brings about stress, discomfort and sadness. When we feel this way, we turn to our best friend for help and support which for many of us is food. The diet is now broken and we feel that we can t stick to diets. We then try fad diet after fad diet hoping to lose the original 20 pounds and now we may have as much as 30 pounds to lose because we continue to put on weight as we continue to break these fad diets by binging for starting our next diet. Please learn about your relationship with food before your next diet so that you may achieve your goals. To help a little, keep in mind the following:You already know how to lose weight. Best of Luck.P.S. After learning about my relationship with food, I was able to drop my weight from 263 pounds down to 151 pounds which is a 112 pound weight lost

some places charge 20 a month to work out at there gym ! Well, start walking 1 hr a day and lay off the junk food!

You need a doctor s help if you need to lose 150 lbs. You certainly have obesity-related health issues right now and you need to be monitored by a medical doctor....not a sales person for a weight loss program.

It is a myth that it costs a lot of money to lose weight. If you are 150 pounds overweight, then I guarantee that you are spending many times more on food than a gym membership would cost. Healthy food is also far cheaper than fast food, chocolate, crisps etc, and water is free, so its definitely cheaper than sugary drinks. In a month I spend 120 on food drink and 30 on a gym membership. Can you honestly tell me that your food bill alone doesn t exceed the 150 ($290) a month that my healthy lifestyle costs?I don t know where you live, but here in England, if you are Obese you are entitled to a subsised gym membership to help get you back on track. There is an abundance of free good quality advice on the Internet about weight loss. There is no need to join costly slimming clubs or take miracle weight loss pills. The answer is simple (and inexpensive), eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise regularly. If you do this, you will find that you actually save money because overeating is actually more expensive than you would care to admit.

Be your own cause and do some research on fitness, health and nutrition. I would also recommend that you consult with a medical professional and fitness professional. A fitness professional can give you ideas without having to be trained (save money) while a doctor needs to can you medically exercise and give important pointers too.

That s a great question. I know severely obese people need more help than someone who s just overweight. It s baffling that more people aren t obese with all the big chain restaurants pushing the super size of every product and also making fatty, greasy, high cholesterol foods so readily available. I know people need to have willpower but I still think the fast food chains aren t helping anyone but themselves.

It is hard, but starting with decreasing your caloric intake on your own and start exercising. After all it is your health, your life you are dealing with. I have worked at a weight management clinic and the patients who actually cut calories and exercised were more successful than those who depended on medication. Simple things like thinking you are hungry and eating instead of just drinking water can make a difference. Sometimes we get a sense of hunger when we are slightly dehydrated. Also substitute your favorite foods like whole cheese, milk, ice cream etc with better choices. Soy, non fat milk, frozen yogurt. Little by little is better then jumping right in and loosing your hope that you can t do it and its expensive. All you need is fresh air, walking that increases your heart rate above normal and cutting down calories. Dont forget... never eat before you go to bed. Make your cut off at least 4 hrs before you go to bed!Goodluck you can do this on your own without a gym, spa, or a program. Alot of help is available online.

because they know if your not smart enough to figure it out yourself (diet, exercise, discipline) then your probably not smart enough to believe they are expensive

This is the only diet I have found that is based on what works:http://www.gidiet.com/en-us/If you are looking to lose weight, especially 150 pounds worth, that is where you will find the correct method of doing so. Cost is about $15 for the book. Amazon.com can have it in your hands by the end of the week.Weight loss is not about dieting. Nor is it about exercise, gyms, expensive memberships or processed food or even candy marketed as diet foods. It s not about Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers nor is it about stupid pieces of molded plastic hawked on TV as various fas weight loss devices.Weight loss is about eating a balanced, nutritious, healthy diet of the correct foods in the correct amounts at the correct times of the day. In other words, alot of raw fruits and vegetables, lean meats in limited quantities (but eaten with every meal), whole grains in very limited quantities, plenty of fresh, clean water and absolutely no refined, fast, or junk foods of any kind (including so called diet foods which are all fraudulent). You eat regular meals, never skip meals, never fast, never go without the bulk items of raw fruits and vegetables....never do the things that cause you to binge. You never deprive yourself but you never indulge in food that is bad for you either.Weight loss is about applying common sense and balance to what you eat.

Try www.bodyforlife.com It doesn t cost anything. At first glance you might say ....oh no it won t work. But, I did that program and I have gone from a size 22 to a size 12.... tight fitting 12. Read through the program, you don t necessarily need to join or compete in their contest, but the reward of just doing it will be a reward in and of itself. The key in this program is eating 5 to 6 times a day, to speed up your metabolism. And as far as weights goes, I started out using canned foods, because I didn t have the money to buy weights. It CAN be done. Read through the web pages and don t worry about the pushing for you to buy EAS products.... you don t need to do that to loose weight. Eating the foods they suggest and not eating the other foods they say to stay away from is the key.The one day a week to eat whatever you want is awesome...and it TRULY does work... you just need to make sure you don t make that ONE day into TWO or THREE, I did do that on occasion and then got back on track. This program really re-trains us and re-teaches us.... how to eat properly. It is a body for LIFE change..... Eating for life, better health, better self-esteem and better way of life.I hope this helps in some small way... I do understand your plight, have been there and still, working towards a healthier lifestyle. From Kai

Honestly I think because you say I give anything to lose 150 ponds , you need some solid program, includid: diet, exercices, suplements(fat burners)...and time. That already cost money and you might need some support(professonial, or friend) but I think if you re ready in your head to do it...nothing should stop yougood luck, and go to worktake care

Do something you can do on your own. Just get moving - go walking everyday (or buy a treadmill or exercise videos) and eat better. If you need someone to track your progress, there are a lot of free services, like self magazines - diet club. All you need to do is subscribe to the magazine, which would be good because they have a lot of helpful hints and pointers.

Try www.sparkpeople.com or Weight Watchers. Sparkpeople is free, and Weight Watchers doesn t change the price based on weight. For working out, join Curves! They are for women only, and have a relatively low cost regardless of weight.I am in the process of losing 69 lbs (42 so far!) and sparkpeople.com has been a great help.Good luck!
