What could be wrong? -

My ex husband and I were married for 12 years and we have 4 kids together however we don t talk as much anynmore because I left him when he started being abusive to me. Now he is sick and my kids are asking me what could be wrong with him. He won t even tell his parents anything or his children and the children are worried. They are still young and are asking me questions I can t answers. My ex was put into the hospital overnight because his ankles and legs were very swollen and his stomach is very swollen from edema( he can t even bend over to pick anything up ) His parents are old and they call me wanting to know how to help him because he gets mad at them for wanting to help him. None of us know what is wrong other then his ankles, legs and stomach have edema and he is losing weight quickly in his face. When we were married, he tested positive for Hep C but he never went and got treatment for it and continued to drink alcohol. He just recently quit drinking alcohol.

Edema is caused by a stress put on the kidneys. Is he eating alot of protein and drinking alcohol? Protein stresses the kidneys filter system. Alcohol taxes a fatty liver that lacks enzymes. If the liver cannot process harmful substances - the second line of defense for the liver is the skin. If his skin is showing signs of distress, that means the liver is failing in which case he will be hospitalized regardless of whether he wants it or not. All this aside, it is truly up to him at which point in his ailment he wishes to have a professional intervene. Also he will need to learn how to take better care of himself. Contact the appropriate health care center for his location.

Well, if you put those symptoms in on WebMD, the symptom checker says it could be pulmonary hypertention, cirrhosis of the liver, blood clots, or kidney failure. No one can tell you for sure except a doctor, but I suggest you tell him that if he does not let you and his parents know what is wrong and how he needs help, then you can t allow him to keep the kids overnight because you don t know what could happen while they are there.Good luck.

He probably has either liver cancer or cirrhosis of the liver.or else the Hep C is progressing to the final conclusion of this disease. Whatever it is it does not look good.

to be honest it sounds like liver cancer.
