How many lb per day is safe and healthy weight-loss?

You shouldn t lose pounds per DAY, more like 1-2 pounds per week is safe and more permanent. As boring as it sounds, the best way is to start eating healthy, period. Don t think of it as a temporary diet. This is how you ALWAYS have to eat. Once you reach your goal, you can OCCASIONALLY have a treat, but no longer eat the way you have been as a way of life. Fill your diet with fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains (limit these to 3-4 servings a day while losing, 4-5 when not), and lean meats such as chicken and fish. Control your portions of carbs and meat and fruit; you don t have to be as careful with your vegetables, as long as you give up butter. I have given up butter almost altogether, and I rarely eat cheese. Stay away from red meat as much as possible, as it is high in bad fats . I started eating this way in Febrary of 2006, and by November, I had lost 90 pounds. I have stayed the same weight since November of 2006, but people tell me I look thinner. This is because I work out every day (except Sunday). I do weight training 3 x a week, and cardio the other 3 days. No more than an hour a day, sometimes only 30 minutes, which is plenty. Weight training is wonderful! You develop muscle and firm up your limbs, and in the meantime you increase your metabolism. Your body burns more calories when it has more muscle and must maintain it. Not only do I look better, I feel great! I will be 50 years old in a couple of years and I feel better than I did when I was in my 30s.

What to eat after dinner? -

I m on a weight loss program where I will have a food replacement during my lunch.Dinner will be as usual for me but in lesser portion.The problem comes after 9pm while I will definitely get hungry.Of course, I can try to sleep early or, engage in other activities but I m looking at food itself.Any recommendations in terms of food to eat after 9pm which will not make me waste my efforts?

Well I read in a bunch of different magazines that you should eat between 4-6 small meals that consist of stuff like fruits vegetables grains and all that stuff and try to limit fats and oils and like all the food pyramid stuff and so like when you wake up you could like have eggs toast juice or something and then something else at 10 but like they re supposed to be small meals so yeah. Oh, and also you should never skip breakfast and never go to bed unless it s been less than three hours since you last ate otherwise you ll wake up hungrier and you might not sleep as good.

I am 27 and about 70 lbs overweight, Growing up, I was always into extracurricular activities and sports (dance, cheer, soccer...) In college, my Dr. recommended that I stop taking dance classes because I had bad knees, so I did. Over the next few years, I have tried several methods thinking they would help a little or a lot if I had combined some of them. I stopped drinking soda for 4 months, I was an active member at a local gym for THREE years going anywhere from 3-6 days/week (didn t lose weight and I had a PERSONAL TRAINER for a several months too), I had a nutritionist, I tried curves, Slimfast, Hydroxy-cut, Ballerina Green Tea, Michael Thurmond s 6 Week Body Makeover Weight Loss Program, Weight Watchers, I cut out carbs, I was in Jazzercise....nothing seemed to work :( I can understand if I laid on the couch all day and stuffed my face, but that just ISN T the case. The best and most effective way to lose weight is to simply eat good foods and count your calories. You can have a piece of cake sometimes, but you must consider how many calories it is and sacrifice elsewhere. You can eat what you want just don t eat more than you allot yourself in a day (I would recommend starting off with 1200 calories a day) Diets don t work. Once you re off the diet, the weight comes back. Counting calories does work because you re not on a diet and you still can have a cookie or whatever, you just do the math. The other thing that will help you ward off hunger is to drink a big glass of water before each meal. You really should be drinking water all day long, but add an extra glass before meals or when you re hungry. If you do this, you WILL lose weight and you will be successful at keeping it off. I can tell that this is important to you, so I m confident that you ll do it : )
