How can I find a successful weight loss program for my 14-yr old daughter? -

She s 5 2 and weighs 175 lbs, most of her weight is in the belly. I keep healthy foods in the house, no junk food or soda, but I know the school lunches she s eating daily don t help. She needs a program especially for kids her age, something she ll feel motivated to stick with. Maybe Weight Watchers could work for her???? Any suggestions???

Hi Anne Working out will help, if you can get her to eat a controlled diet and do regular exercise you should see a difference with in a short space of time.what you need is a controlled work out plan,to tone her muscles You will need to implement a safe and healthy diet along with regular exercise. I have lost over 20 pounds in 1 month and stomach is starting to look great1 have lost 3inches of my waist which I though I could never do .The training I followed was from Mike Gearys.Mike is a personal trainer/ Nutrition specialist .He is one of the top internet fitness instructorsCheck out his testimonialsCheck his web site out by copying n pasting the link below in to your browser..What have you got to lose?FITANDHEALTHYEDGE.COM

Something is not right if she has been raised with no soda or junk foods but is that much overweight at 14. I would suggest having her thyroid levels checked. She probably needs more activity. If the school lunches are that bad, pack a lunch.I would highly suggest doing the Barnes Basal Temperature Test . This test is performed by placing a thermometer in the armpit for 10 minutes immediately upon waking without getting out of bed with very little movement. I would suggest setting the alarm for 5-6am doing it then every day for about 10 days. A measurement of 97.8 F (36.6 C) or below was considered by him to be highly indicative of hypothyroidism, especially when hypothyroid symptoms are present. A reading over 98.2 F (36.8 C) was indicative of hyperthyroidism, unless a patient had advanced arthritis, which Barnes claimed would falsely elevate the temperature due to muscle contractions.I know my thyroid lab tests have always shown normal even though I have all the symptoms of hypothyroid and a basal temperature of 95F Most people can not lose weight on synthetic hormones but do better with natural hormones.Perhaps dance or gymnastic classes might help or an active computer game? Walking bike riding. I highly suggest a low carb way of eating for optimal health and to help normalize hormones. I am betting she is insulin resistant and her body is not processing carbs properly. I would highly suggest Atkins program or even South Beach program.

Limit TV to one day a week.Get rid of the computer and video games.Take her on a walk at a brisk pace for at least one hour 10 times per week.Allowing her to diet will be harmful in the long run and not successful.Don t fight over food.Buy her some toys if she doesn t have them, like skates, hula hoop, yo-yo, frisbee, bubbles to blow, binoculars, a kite, drawing supplies and paper, like the kids had in the past. Do not focus her attention or yours on her weight, just do those things because they are right.Stop driving her everywhere and walk instead if you can.

Weight Watchers is a great weight loss program because it teaches you portion control and how to select better food choices. I liked that with Weight Watchers I could eat my own food prepared the way I Iike. There is no need to buy special foods or pills. It is a very common sense program. (I lost over 20 pounds) And, it is dietary information that she can use for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, Weight Watchers does not have a specific program for children. In fact, they clearly state that the program is not for people under 18 or pregnant women. It may still be possible to sign her up with your permission. Perhaps you could go with the online program?Weight Watchers has some coupons for the online program:If you live in Canada you can get the Weight Watchers Canada 25% off coupon here:http://www.canbuy.ca/weightwatchers.aspIf you line in the US you can get the Weight Watchers USA 25% off coupon here:http://www.canbuy.ca/weightwatchersUSA.a

Maybe you would want her to start limiting some carb. Carbohydrates always gets stored as glucogen in the belly. Also, try to enjoin her to start an exercise routine, maybe at the park, where she can see other people also sweating themselves out. In any case you can try this new program I have found http://www.bestwaytoweightloss.com/weigh

If you know right weight loss info and way, weight loss is easy. If you are really serious, you must have fast weight loss way that works for you. I recommend you my weight loss way for you. I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks and it was very fast. You can do it too. You can get more info at link below.

If you keep healthy food only in your house then maybe she needs you to make balanced and size the portions she s eating down but being a teen she does need the calories for her body so maybe she should exercise at least 3 times per week.

Nutrisystem weight loss program? -

Has anybody tried Nutrisystem for weight loss ? Need advice for the best program to start with and for how long and how much did you lose if you really tried the 28 day program, how was the food etc.., I am not vegetarian nor diabetic 33 years old female . Thanks for all your advice .

my friend tried it for a few months n she lost a lot of weight she plans to go back on it. not sure how much it is but she says its $$$...good luck

i used to work at a vitamin store and a few women came in before and said that they were on the nutrisystem diet and they ve lost alot of weight.

monica lewinski was their spokesperson and failed. tell you anything about how good it is?

Is the cabbage soup diet safe and does it work? -

i know someone who is 14 years old and she is 5 feet tall and less than 130 pounds but tthats a bit heavy for her height and she wants to go on this diet..i think its fine cuz everyone i talk to says it works..she knows this wieght loss she does lose from this cabbage soup diet wont be permanent but she does need to lose weight quickly for a short period of time...can she do it?..i doubt it will ruin her body cuz it is only for a short period of time..please dont tell me crap like, oh shes too young and shes so light or whatever..just help me out!

It works, but like most diets the second you break off of it you gain the weight back real quick. Her best bet would be to exercise.

no its not safe and yes it does work.. until you re of it, then you gain everything back plus 5

No diets are safe. Diets starve the body of nutrients and initially you ll lose a few pounds but eventually gain it back. What she should do is drink water in between meals. When she is hungry she should eat small meals every few hours--ie. cheese and crackers or a Nutrigrain bar and fruit.Smaller meals every few hours helps regulate the metabolism and speed it up.Walking or going out biking, etc helps too.No diets or starving yourself. It s no good.So the idea is to keep eating, but substitute junk food and high-fat foods for fruits, veggies and balanced diet.Everything in moderation though.

with the cabbage soup diet youll lose weight and fast, but since its only water weight you gain it back quickly when you stop the diet. your friend will lose weight quickly if she follows it exactly but only for a short period of time

Sure, your friend will lose weight if she follows this diet. And possibly a lot of weight in a little amount of time. It will be a good jump start. but before starting check out this site for more info:http://www.magnetic-diet.com/cabbage-sou

How does birth control affect weight loss? -

I have been on a strict weight loss program. I eat generally healthy and go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and about three times with a personal trainer. However, soon I am planning on getting into birth control pills. I have been told that your hormones go crazy with the pills... Would this affect my weight loss? I know it reacts differently with each woman... but what are the possibilities? Thanks in advance!

When I took them I didn t notice any significant weight gain or loss. I had a friend who gained 30 lbs, but she was about 100lbs to start, always been one of those bone skinny girls when she was younger. Other friends, maybe 10 lbs or so, but like I said if anything I might have gained 5 lbs. I think its because the hormones affect your appetite, making you hungrier more often, but as long as you pay attention to that and keep doing what you re doing you ll be fine.

How can I lose weight quickly.? -

I m a guy. I am six foot six. I weigh 185 pounds at the moment.I lost forty five pounds this year. My stomach, chest arms and lower legs are relatively skinny and fit. However, my thighs are huge. I want to know how I can lose weight on my thighs but not get too skinny with the rest of my body.I realize you can t lose weight in a focused area but does anyone have any suggestions that may be able to help me.I eat relatively sensibly and exercise frequently. Also, my upper arms near my armpits are flabby-ish. I d like to do something about that to if anyone has suggestions.I don t have access to a gym. And I have two ten pound weights and that s about it.

Have you tried the Lil Jack workout? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezr

make sure your diets clean, about 80% of the results you get is from what you put in your mouth.eat whole foods like lean meats, oatmeal, fish, sweet potato s, and nuts.do some cardio like walking or jogging for 30-60 minutesuse your 10lb weights and do exercise that use your body weight as well like squats, lunges, push ups, and dipsgood luck=]

Eating good is always good to staying slim and cut, but It wont do any good if you don t excercise. Excercie is vital. Jog a lot, and push yourself harder each time, and stay consistant. Do rigourus sets of pushups, pullups and situps every other day, always push yourself. If you cant afford a gym, make your own. I filled up some milk jugs with sand to make my own weights to use when I cant make it to a gym. Just get creative, and stay active. Check out the mens health website

I fasted the month of ramadan and I have lost 8-9 kg. However i was not weigh loss oriented, i believe I could have lost double that. Fast the next month and watch your weight when you break your fast.

if you really want to lose your weight.don t worry.exercise daily with some hard workouts and drink fresh juices.for more info visit the below website.

Running and swimming and lots of water and protein.

Is this a realistic weight loss program? -

I m 5 2 , am under the age of 20, weigh 119 lbs and have a 29 inch waistline. My goal:To be 110 lbs. and have a 24 inch waistline.I want to be able to reach this goal in, maybe, 2 months. My daily exercises will include:2 hours of tennis.1 hour on a bicycle.Maybe 30 minutes of power walking.Crunches, Bicycle Crunches, The Plank, and Leg Lifts. My eating habits are very healthy. I m not a calorie-counter, though. I really don t feel the need to do math to eat food. My breakfast is usually half a cup of cheerios, w/ skim milk. I may have fruit instead, though. My lunch is usually just an assortment of veggies, maybe some Triscuits thrown in, too. And I have a variety of dinners, all home-cooked and healthy. I may have a dessert, which is usually a sugar-free popsicle or some cookies made with Splenda instead of sugar. Not every day is like this, obviously it differs, but it doesn t change a whole lot health-wise.So, in your opinion, is this a realistic weight loss program?

You dont want to hear this but your body is already healthy and already at a weight that it wants to be in. You don t even eat that much and your body will not be able to handle that much excersize with that amount of food. If you dont like math while your eating food. Forget the math when it comes to the scale and your waistline. You will end up frustrating yourself.

myself, i eat 1 big meal a day, and then mostly fruits and veggies the rest of the day and drink a lot of water, but i m very active , @work and i bike, and crunches, i was 192 lbs just before new years and today , i m 158 lbs. i m 5-6 and went from a 36 inch jeans to a 33, and i ve never felt better. more zip, in my step, and way more energy, and no more alcohol. 2yrs today.

Hellotwo things.Waistline is also a matter of body type. If yours is 29 at 119 lbs, it s unlikely it will be less than 27 at 110. So you need to either revise your weight target or revise your waistline target.Second thing is, if you don t count calories, you won t know how much you are eating. Therefore, you won t be able to plan your exercises accordingly. Furthermore, if you don t count, you will have no idea of the calories in your food, and won t therefore be able to self-regulate effectively (I know people that thought 4 oz salmon to be around 100 calories just because it is healthy, while in fact it s around 200, then calories add up and people get surprised that they don t lose weight!!!). You might stop counting after you ve learnt the caloric value of foods if you wish.In short: without having an idea of your daily caloric intake, it s impossible to understand whether the level of exercising you outlined is enough for your goals or not.:)

it s a great plan. impressive.

This sounds great, but be sure to keep some protein and iron in your diet, you don t want to become anemic.

You don t need to lose weight because you have a healthy BMI. However, you can replace some fat weight with muscle weight by doing the exercises you mentioned. Have fun!

How do i lose weight quickly? -

im 15 weight 165.i want to lose 25 pounds quickly. i lost it before but it took awhile.is there a way i can do it fast. what if i ate salad everyday, worked out on an excersise bike for 20 minutes,a stepper for 20 minutes, and did 200 crunches on my ab lounge. how long would it take to lose the weightim a guy

Lose about 10 pounds. 15, 140lbs too skinny. If you eat less, you ll burn muscle and store fat, so eat a lot. 6 meals everyday 2-3 hours apart drink water instead of soda/beer/juices.Start lifting weights at your gym and do cardio, 3 days each, then take a day off. Ask a trainer or go to http://bodybuilding.com to get some good exercises. You need to lift to build muscle even if you don t want to become a bodybuilder.Find out how many calories you burn daily and eat 200-500 less than to safely burn fat while preserving muscle. Aim for 1-2 pounds a week, any more and you ll get saggy skin/put it back on.

The bad news...to take it off right and keep it off, it s going to take 3-6 months. You need to loose 1-2 lbs/week, faster than that and you re setting yourself up to gain it all back.Eating salad every day is a good idea. I hope you re eating something else, too! Avoiding fatty snacks will probably do more for your diet than trying to live like a monk on some extreme diet. It s easier to stick to that, too.The bike and stepper for 40 minutes is good, but only do the crunches if you like doing them. They ll do more to strengthen your abs than they will to help you lose any weight. If you re just after weight loss, find some other cardio activity to do for another 20 minutes/day (or just work out on the bike or stepper longer). But working out for more than about an hour a day is probably overkill. If you re dropping 1-2 lbs a week, you re doing fine. If you re losing faster than that, give yourself a treat every now and then...eat something that s off your diet that you enjoy, skip a workout to do something fun, whatever. Just don t stop your program completely!Good luck.

I once lost 30 pounds in one summer while eating a great deal of unhealthy and fattening food but spending almost every day playing several hours of In The Groove, which is an arcade dancing game like Dance Dance Revolution.Your mileage may vary due to metabolism, but I doubt it would take more than two or three months to lose at least 20 pounds if you actually did all the stuff you mentioned (which you probably won t).

My doctor tells me that you can eat as much lean protein (i.e chicken, fish) as you want and salads and fruits and veg, and you will not gain weight at all. And I questioned him saying what if I ate a whole chicken, and he said as long as it was the breast part, u could eat as much of it as u want and you will not gain weight. So I am trying my hardest to stick to a only protein and fruit/vegetable diet. But its really hard cus I love my bread carbs. If you can though, jog or run for 20 minutes because that realy gets your *** in motion. I have lost weight in the past 2 weeks doing this. Its kills at first but u get used to it. I started with 200 sit ups on my ab lounge too, but now im doing 300 after my cardio, but yeah, ur workout sounds good.

You will get temporary benefits from this routine. You should not eat just salad and do onlu cardio and crunches. The results will be slow and temporary. - Consider strength circuit training- Eat sufficient proteins- Lower your carbs- Do HIIT cardio- Drink lots of water. For A LOT more details, visit my blog.

go on the protien diet i done it for 2 weeks lost 12 kilos just have lots of protien no carbohydrates no sugar just protein and salads its one of the best diets i done i was 80 kilo now 70 im 15 years old

For a start...eating just salad wont get you anywhere. You need carbs and fats to be able to function properly.
