First you need to calculate your BMI, which includes your height weight, and activity level. then it tells you how many calories you should be eating. to lose weight you need to take those calories and minus 500 from it, since 1 pound equals 3,500 calories and there are 7 days in a week. with diet and exercise, you could lose from 1-3 pounds per week!
Proper diet and exercise! You didn t say how tall you are, so you may not be terribly over weight if you re near six foot. Since you didn t say and you re asking this kind of question in this type of forum, you probably haven t asked your family doctor about your weight yet. That s where you should really begin. Your family doctor can give you a quick exam to make sure there s not a medical problem causing your weight. He ll check your heart and blood pressure to make sure there s no problem there. He ll also likely check your blood sugar to make sure you haven t developed Diabetes. That s the three main things your doctor will likely look at initially. If there s no signs of problems here, he ll likely tell you to watch what you are eating ( especially between meals ) and get plenty of exercise. Your doctor can tell you if you re over weight and by how much and what you can do to lose the weight. He can tell you by the physical exam what you should or shouldn t be doing for exercise. That s one detriment to computers, you don t get any exercise sitting and working at a computer for hours at a time! And I know that kids your age grew up with computers and the computer is how you communicate with a lot of your friends. Your friends and you should be playing ball of some kind like baseball, softball, football, soccer, all team sports that will make participation fun and the time go quickly. More solitary sports such as walking, jogging or bicycling are also good for losing weight. There are many excellent web sites that give very good advice about diet and weight control. I wish you good luck and good health! It s never too early or too late to take care of your body and your health.
