Im trying to eat healthy since needing to have emergency gall bladder removal, but dont know where to start? -

Hi, I m trying to eat healthy and would like to stick to a plan that gives me full menu / recipes for everyday of the week. There are so many programs out there that CLAIM to be the healthiest and best for you that I just don t know which to go with. Currently I ve been looking into Dr. Mercola s Total Health Program and I ve been following his program for a couple of weeks, but I don t know if his program is the best for me in the long run. Can anyone suggest a better program I could follow? I m not overweight at all, so I m not looking for a weight loss program, I just want to find a program that will KEEP ME HEALTHY and that focuses on digestive health (which is the main problem I ve been dealing with since having my surgery). I would love to recieve tips and recipes from anyone who has had their gall bladder removed too. What foods do you eat and how is your digestion? By the way, I ve seen gastroenterologists and they haven t been able to help w/ suggestions on what to eat.

Follow the orders your Doctor gave you when you went back for your follow up. I m sure you asked him this question. I hope you are not crazy enough to ask the general public when have an educated response from a licensed physician at your disposal.?!

well i know this diet that is very low in carbs but i dont recommend it for more then 10-15 days i didnt once you can lose 15-17 pounds in 15 days .. heres how it go s:1-you count only 15gramsof carbs for the whole day whitch is very low because a normal person should eat about 300 g carbs a day.you get 5-6 very small portion meals.eat only green veggies nothing else colored veggies like carrots and corn contain sugars.no dairy ,no milk, or yougret (i know it s weired but it works)no candy, no pretzels (in general no carbs)you can eat egg white. chihken breast fish ans tuna (witch have no carbs and barly any fat so fill up on that)you can also eat peanuts ( but becarful a serving of peanuts has 8 carbs so if you eat that there wont be much carbs left for the daydrink only water no diet coke or caffine (that maens no coffee either )so that is it it s basicly a high protien diet with very low carbs oh ya and you cant have fruits either ( i know it s crazy)but be carfull and stay hydrated . when i did this diet for a week li lost about 10 pound i was dehydrated so be carefull another friend of mine done it and lost 17ibs in 15 days with an hour of tredmill a day i dont really recommend this diet exept if you reallty need to lose weight fast for an occationprepare your self to starve .. i hope you lose the weightgood luck, and take a vitamin supplement like vitamin C for a more healthy approuch check out this website free tools, diet pland and exercieshttp://www.sparkpeople.com/

Here s why they re telling you to eat healthy: Fat in your diet stimulates your gall bladder to contract and squeeze out bile into your digestive tract. Because you re having a problem with your gall bladder, this action is causing you pain. Therefore, currently when you eat fatty foods, you get pain, which stops you wanting to eat fatty foods. When the surgery s complete, you ll no longer have this pain, which means that it s easier for you to eat fatty foods - which makes you put on weight :-)Eating healthy is about making healthy choices for LIFE. This requires a major change in how you think about food. The only one I can really recommend is Weight Watcher s, because it really lets you think about what you re putting into your system and whether it s healthy. It would also be a good idea to speak to a dietitian. They ll tell you lots of stuff that you already have heard of, but it s the only stuff that matters in the long run.

I know what you are going through as I have had mu gall bladder removed. It will get better over time and you wont be as sensitive to food, it took me over two years to get some normality back. I mainly stayed away from fatty food eg butter, chocolate, any take away food except if healthy, mayonnaise and other things like this.I have heard that the CSIRO book is a sensible eating plan for everyday living and the book is only $20 from Target.I don t know if you have a problem with this but I can not take any codeine now or i get severe pain in the stomach, just thought I would give you the heads up on that.I hope all goes well and you get back on track soon.

One thing I can recommend is for you to cut out sugar. Our bodies need natural sugar like fructose, sucrose, glucose, dextrose, lactose, etc. etc.You can get natural sugars from fruit and drinks like Gatorade. What we don t need is the refined, processed table sugar that s included in a lot of foods and snacks.Just cut out potato chips, ice cream, snack cakes, and soda pop.Drink plenty of Gatorade and milk. Some people don t like the taste of regular white milk, so I ve been told by a doctor that adding Nesquick to milk is ok, but other than that you really should avoid refined sugar.

Is this a good (healthy) weight-loss eating plan? -

I m 19 and I m looking to lose about 30 lbs all together. I know about the fad diets and such and that is NOT what I want...that s why I m asking for some advice. I am going to be exercising, starting out cardio 3 or 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes, and when I ve lost the weight, I ll begin weight training to get better toned. Although I m focusing on calorie intake, I ve all together cut out sodas, sweets, and obvious things like that. Anyways, here s the eating plan I ve been following, and it will change from day to day, but same amounts, close to the same amount of cals and such. Breakfast: 1/2 cup Instant Oatmeal - uncooked - 150 cals 2 Tbsp Smucker s Organic Strawberry Preservers (for flavor) - 100 calsOR 1 container Dannon lite and fit vanilla yogurt - 60 cals 1 banana - 110 cals *1 or 2 bottles water (20 fl. oz) - between breakfast and lunch Lunch 1 medium sweet potato - up to 150 cals (?) 1 Jennie-O turkey hot dog - 70 cals *1 or 2 bottles water (20 oz) between lunch and dinner Dinner 1 chicken breast (4-5oz) - up to 140 cals 3/4 cup (maybe more) green beans - 30 cals 1 bottle water (20 oz) NOW, I realize this is only around 650 calories at the most for the day, BUT, not every day will be like this. I m at college, and I go to the cafeteria sometimes. So, at least one meal a day will have, probably much, more than 200 calories. Also, I ve heard about the 5-6 meals a day thing to keep your metabolism going. First off, is this right? It makes sense. I ve been going with it, and having, usually fruit, or like those 100 calorie pack foods for a snack. So probably two snacks a day at 100-200 calories. I think that said, it will amount to at least 1200 calories a day. I would appreaciate ANY advice on this. I ve talked to a couple people who are pretty knowledgeable, but put this together on my own. I know with a good diet and exercise, the weight will come off. Maybe slowly, but surely Thanks!*Crystal Light? I know the artificial sweeteners...10 cals per packet, but is it alright for a diet? I get tired of water so easily..I can make myself drink it, but with crystal light is MUCH better! At the most, I d use it on two bottles of water a day. Thanks again!

650 calories is going to put your body into starvation mode and save more FAT out of the food. That is NOT what you want!I m guessing you re female, so you should eat AT LEAST 1300 calories. Calculate your BMR, it tells you how many calories you burn by laying in bed. I suggest not eating more than that amount of calories. And other than the lack of calories(ENERGY, you need it!) I only saw a few things wrong. The strawberry preserves. I mean, it is fruit and all, but it has a loooot of added sugar. If you need flavor for your oats, use spices! A little bit of sugar is okay, then add some cinnamon. I also got this very yummy imitation maple flavor (found by the vanilla in the spice isle) it will save you a lot of calories. Where is your milk? Milk, grain, fruit and veg is VERY important in a diet. Add more!Heres what I suggest:An apple, orange, or banana with breakfast. That will add 80-100 calories. It will also speed up your metabolism.Add 2-3 glasses of skim milk. Thats around 220 calories. Eat a whole wheat bun with your turkey dog! Load it up on the mustard, relish, onion and any other veg you like on your meats. It will help you feel fuller and you need the grain. Thats about 120 calories. Fill the rest of the 200-400 more calories with more fruits and vegetables and healthy whole grains throughout the day. Vegetables are great when losing weight, do not cut them out of your diet!Oh and by the way the second breakfast would be great for you if you added some oats along with it. Or, even add some whole grain cereal with skim milk. That will get more milk into your diet. Good luck!EDIT: 1300 is the minimum for women, 1200 for men, 1400 if you re still growing.

you SHOULD be having 1500 cals a day in six small meals or your metabolism slows and you hold on to fat rather than lose it

Is it safe for teenagers to use weight loss products? -

This isn t an ethical question, but quite literally asking if it is safe for a teenager to use weight loss solutions like weight loss milkshakes and other things of that nature. Thanks in advance!

This question is a very open-ended question in which there is not a single answer to. Weight loss products can be as mild as meal replacement bars or shakes to appetitie suppresant pills. The answer to your question is going to depend on which products that you are speaking of. As a very general answer, you need to look at the nutrients that a teen needs to get everyday. If the product is restricting this, or preventing the intake of this, then no - they are not safe. As far as weight loss milkshakes , look as the nutritional content in each of the shakes. If this shake is providing the proteins, carbs, and good fats that are needed in good proportions and amounts, then there should not be a problem. The problem arises when you get into some of the replacement drinks that are nothing more than an apetite suppresant with no nutritional value.Good luck!

It s not safe for ANYONE to use OTC weight loss supplements- they re not regulated by the FDA and can be extremely dangerous (not to mention there s no evidence that any of them are effective, since they aren t tested in the same way that prescription and over-the-counter drugs are, since they re classified as supplements .)It s not unsafe for a teenager to diet, but it should be carefully planned, aiming for slow, sustainable weight loss, and being sure that all the teen s nutritional requirements aside from calories are being met. Calorie restriction shouldn t be too extreme (you re still growing, you NEED calories). Permanent body development is occurring in the teen years, you don t want to mess up growth by dieting in an unsafe way.Weight loss shakes like slimfast and the like aren t a particularly great idea for anyone, although they re certainly better than eating nothing or eating nutritionally empty foods. The primary problem with them is that although they can cause rapid weight loss in small amounts, pretty much nobody can sustain the two shakes a day plus dinner diet plan forever, and as soon as you stop you go back to your old habits and put back on the weight, plus generally a little more. Repeated many times over years, this leads to a messed-up metabolism and a large accumulation of weight.A better idea- for teens and adults- is to slowly change to healthy, sustainable eating patterns that involve solid, normal food, not weight-loss shakes or similar meal substitution products. This (plus exercise) is the only way to achieve real, long-term weight loss.

no its notthey contain side effects and are deadlythe real product for weight lossis to change your lifestyle educate yourself and your mind to connect with your bodyexercise and eating right is keygoodluckshakes are great but it dependssome contain sugar and are not worthiti recommend protein soybased mineral shakes healthy and filled with many vitamens

I dont think you should be using pills or anything, but there isnt harm in like the slimfast shakes or bars, as long as you are getting all the nutrients you need.

No, cuz we are young and all we have to do is work hard to lose it. I wouldnt advice to use it just excerise

So basically im looking for some kid friendly excerises and some i can do with him to encourage him and some healthy recipes but something that maybe appeal to him. So if anyone have some tips on activities, excerises, recipes, etc... Please help me out. Oh and no im not looking for a quick fix. Thanks

Losing weight can be tough for a lot of people. While there are a lot of ways to boost your metabolism and burn through calories, did you know that there are foods out there that aid your body in the process? While none of these can be considered a cure-all for fat loss, each has special properties that rev up your metabolism. They can all be easily found at your local supermarket and incorporated into your diet.Foods that Boost your Metabolism, Boost your Metabolism and loose weight faster! While none of these foods are sufficient to base your entire diet on, every little bit helps. Its easy to put ice in your water, add some chiles to your pasta sauce, and make a big salad or stir fry. Just remember, the only way to really lose fat and look good is to exercise and eat right. These are just some ways to give your metabolism the little boost it needs to burn a few more calories!Rolled OatsRolled oats can be made with whey protein and flaxmeal in the morning to spike your metabolism with high quality carbohydrates, protein and good fats. The best time to eat rolled oats is in the morning when your body needs carbohydrates for your brain and body to effeciently function throughout the rest of the day. Whey ProteinWhey protein is perhaps the best thing for your metabolism since sliced rye bread (yes, we know what the saying is). It is in powder format and comes from cows milk. Whey protein is a complete high quality protein which is great for increasing your metabolism because everytime you ingest protein your body feels full longer and revs your metabolism.Almonds Almonds are loaded with good fats, fiber and incomplete protein. You can see the complete nutrient profile here. Since almonds have such great essential fatty acids they help your body raise it s metabolism just by ingesting them. Obviously ANY FAT has a high calorie content so be sure to have a few nuts every day. You can mix these up with pine, cashews and walnuts as they also contain a very healthy amount of good fats and antioxidants.Natural Yogurt Natural yogurt contains many pro-biotic cultures that are necessary for a healthy digestive tract. Yogurt also contains a lot of good fats and some protein. Yogurt can be eaten as a mid-morning snack with a whole apple.Green TeaGreen Tea is perhaps one of the best morning metabolism boosters you can drink. Not only does it help with cancer risk, weight loss, metabolism it also contains caffeine which helps you focus during the morning. Green tea is found in many fat burning productsBeansBeans are loaded with fiber and incomplete protein. Fiber helps keep you feeling full longer which helps prevent any binges and lapses in your meal plan.SpinachSpinach is loaded with antioxidants which help repair damaged muscles and prevent free radicals from doing their damaging effects to your health. Spinach is known for it s iron, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. Myfit.ca wouldn t suggest ingesting this everyday but every few days would be acceptable.EggsEggs are one of the highest quality protein sources available. Eggs should be part of everyones diet and is perhaps the best food at speeding up the metabolism. TurkeyTurkey is one of those lean meats that you should have once or twice a week to switch up your sources of protein. It is a great source of complete protein which helps rev your BMR (basal metabolic rate)Chicken BreastChicken breast should be a staple in anyones diet. It s lean, easy to make and you can find it cheap at the local supermarket. I prefer the bonless, skinless kind because it takes extra time to skin/debone it.Peanut ButterPeanut Butter is one of those hidden health foods. People give it a bad rap due to it s high caloric content but it contains great essential fatty acids, lots of fibre and some incomplete protein. Instead of putting it on toast, try it on celery as a snack.Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Canola OilExtra virgin olive oil and canola oil should be used at ALL TIMES when cooking. Since extra virgin olive oil has a lower flash point (it burns at a lower temperature than most oils) it is sometimes pretty messy to use. These oils contain lots of omega 3 s which keep your heart and brain healthy.Whole grainsWhole grains provide energy that you need throughout the day. Most of the advertised whole grains aren t actually made with Whole Wheat (and with the germ). Make sure that the product that you buy is not enriched either. The more that you increase your insulin levels the better chance you re slowing down that metabolism.BerriesMost people love berries and they re not such a hidden secret anymore. They are jam packed FULL of antioxidants and is probably one of the most important health foods to eat to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep your metabolism going strong. Frozen Raw Raspberries are usually the easiest to purchase from the frozen section of your local supermarket.Cayenne PepperIn the past five years cayenne pepper has been used in fat burners. Why you ask? Well, cayenne has thermagenic (heats up your body) properties. When your body has to cool itself down it requires calories to do so. Thus, creating a fire for your metabolism.CoffeeCoffee is one of those foods that have been loved and hated by many nutrionists and dieticieans. The most recent research about caffeine and coffee suggest many positive benefits which include: Speeding up your metabolism, heart health, increased concentration and many more. WaterA recent study by germany researchers suggest that 90 minutes after drinking cold water (H20) will boost your metabolism by 24% over their average metabolism rate. Make sure to drink your water cold. Not only does water keep your body lean it also helps with keeping the flow of nutrients and helps get rid of free radicals. Make sure you re keeping the water cooler near by. SteakLean red meat has also been through a love and hate relationship with many health professionals; but recent research suggests that lean red meat should be ingested once per week. Red meat contains creatine monohydrate which helps your body use more creatine phosphate (ATP) to help you build muscle. Obviously with the more muscle mass the greater your metabolism.I hoped this helped. Good Luck ?

What kind of foods do you guys consume?Do you buy him fast food/if so, how often?Start taking walks around town.Vitamin/mineral supplements.I recommend the Flinstone variety .Increase Fruits/veggies intake.Don t let him drink soft drinks or juices.A lot of juices contain lots of sugar and high fructose corn syrup.Purchase a juicer and juice your own.Cut down on any snacks (fruit roll ups, cookies, crackers etc)Don t cut the junk out all the way.He can still enjoy the yummy foods in moderation.

Affordable diet program for the for the long-term? -

I m looking for an affordable weight loss program for long-term effects. I m not looking for diets like Jenny Craig. I m only about 20 lbs overweight and would like some sort of one-on-one consulting/nutrition planning with long-term manageability. I m also a college student on a tight income, so $150/hour nutritionist meetings aren t an option.I ve googled around a bit, but it s hard to weed through the scams/non-reputable programs. If you could share any personal experience, it would be helpful. Truthfully, I m even willing to purchase program food to kick start things, but I m looking at a budge of $50-$70/week only, which is hard to come by. I do not want to rely on prepared meals for years.Any suggestions are appreciated and will be seriously looked into. Thanks!

you need a lifestyle change. eat lots of fruit, vegetables, and lean protein. STAY AWAY FROM JUNK FOOD. try to be more active by walking, running, biking, or swimming. you should also drink at least 8 cups of water a day.

My wife and I have been using a system that a friend of mine turned me onto, bought it online and it was really cheap compared to a lot of the stuff on the market, you can find it here http://tinyurl.com/4a2h8jFollowing this program is working great for both of us. I have lost about 10 pounds in the last month and my wife is around 7. We had tried tons of programs and nothing worked but my friend swore by this and he told me he lost a total of 40 pounds and reached his target weight and feels great. My wife and I are well on our way and I am hoping to lose another 10 by August so I m not fat at my high school reunion...lol Hope this helps a little.

Best diet to lose a lot of weight? -

What s the best diet anyone has been on? how much did you lose? what did you do? my fiance needs to lose quite a bit of weight for health reason, and i want to help him in what i cook for us to eat, but i don t really know much about diets. When i wanted to lose weight, i just cut back on seconds, but he s gonna need more than that. Any diets, pills, or weight loss programs anyone would (or wouldn t) recommend? I don t care about him losing it quickly, because he has a lot to lose.

Eat several (5-6) small meals a day...his body will burn calories faster and build his metabolism in a short period of time.(eat about every 2 hours)The first 8-10 pounds he sheds is water...after that he will lose an average of 2 - 3 lbs per weekMeal suggestions:piece of fruitstring cheese, summer sausage, cottage cheese/yogurttuna/turkey/ham sandwich (lettuce, tomatoe optional)soupraw veggiesboiled eggspopcornAlways eat a good dinner...meat, potatoes/pasta/rice, veggie...his body needs carbs, protein and vitamins to stay healthyLow calorie sweets...ginger snaps, fig bars, 100% juice popsiclesDrink plenty of water Drink milk or juice/water with every meal (no soda pop)Stay away from munchies, fried fatty foods.Never eat before going to bed.Cardio exercise is great, but most people don t continue for an extended period, do daily simple exercise like walking/hiking, biking and swimming which are low impact, both of you can play games like basketball, baseball, or volleyball, they will help to lose weight, tone his body, make new friends and you ll both have fun doing it.

just try cutting back on the amount of food he is consuming, and it is important to eat more fruit and veg. Also try taking at first small amounts of exersize, and then gradually build up.Try swimming that is a great form of exersize,if he is really overweight, the water will help him.The most important thing is not to give up easily, keep trying,i am sure he will get there in the end. There is not fast cure i am afraid,Good Luck

Cut back on refined carbs like sugar, bread and potatoes. Eat meals high in vegetables and protein. Exercise, Exercise Exercise.

I think he should just eat when ever he wants but eat healthy foods and do daily exercises with him so he feels supported. Throw away everything in your cupboard that is junk and fill it all with fruit and vegetables. Drink alot of water ( it fills you up and your thirst...trust me ) WHATEVER YOU DO DON T TAKE DIET PILLS!!!! It is really bad for your heart and your health! The YMCA is good! The exercise helps alot and take a music player with you and water to rock on while exercising, I hope I helped!!

There are sooo many diets out there that will help you lose weight fast. However, they cut calories so much that most people can t stick to them very long and end up gaining all the weight back. It s all about lifestyle change and learning how to be healthy. Taking a pill may help you lose weight, but it doesn t teach you how to keep the weight from coming back. Weight Watchers is a great plan. You eat normal food, not prepared food, diet shakes, etc. You re allowed to eat all kinds of foods and not cut out entire food groups, all sweets, etc. If he has a lot of weight to lose it can be hard to do on your own. Weight Watcher meetings are proven to help dieters. People share their success stories, recipes and discuss their challenges. If he wants to do this on his own, I would suggest eating lean protein, fruits, vegetables. Carbs like oatmeal, rice, sweet potatoes, pasta are fine in moderation. You don t want to cut out an entire food group. Most importantly try to stay off processed foods which consists mainly of chips, cookies, fast food and prepackaged snacks. Eat healthy and exercise and he can t help but lose weight. Any type of exercise is fine as long as he gets some activity. Remember he didn t gain the weight overnight and it won t come off overnight. Good luck!

Many people ask me how they can slim down. I recommend that people eat right and exercise. However, if they would like a little help , I suggest using natural Hoodia (it s important to note that not all Hoodia works well, even if the bottle says pure or standard ).The Hoodia sold at http://tinyurl.com/y389on is in my opinion the best Hoodia on the market. It s pure, has no side effects, and they give you a free 15 day sample (there is a $7.99 shipping and handling charge, but they also give you free recipe and diet guides). Fantastic results have been seen with this particular Hoodia.
