I want to lose 75 pounds by August 1, 2007....? -

is that an ideal amount to lose or should I give myself more time? Also any tips of healthy weight loss would be greatly appreciated.

I m glad to see that you have a realistic time-frame for your goal. Here are some aggressive but realistic ideas.First, for all of the quick and easy weight loss diet pill suggestions you will receive, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common question amounts to How do I lose weight, or more specifically, How do I lose abdominal fat? I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get It works! emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.Don t target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into starvation mode and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful. There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn t true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below. The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the moderate fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode. Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy. To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, swimming calories you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine. For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet. Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn t overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further. There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about How to get a six-pack? The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the core is active which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive. If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.Aloha

that is really good goal not like you want to lose all that wight now like every body else and yes can you and every body reads this can go to my page and answer my question please and again good luck with that wight Report Abuse

The Best Exercises To Lose Weight Exercise that pushes your heart rate closest to your targeted heart rate is the most suitable exercise to get rid of fat. You should exercise with sufficient intensity to raise your pulse rate, which in turn speeds up the fat loss process. The exercises that bring your heart rate close to your targeted heart rate will boost your metabolism, which will lead to fat loss.Besides, making you look better, weight loss offers hosts of other health benefits. When you reduce 10-15% of your weight, your chances of suffering from heart attack, diabetes as well as cholesterol levels go down. Hence if you are thinking of getting started, the best time to get started is now.Commitment is the most crucial factor to get any exercise program started.Do cardio exercises for 30-60 minutes at least 3-4 times per week. Commitment will also help you to choose the best exercise that will aid your fat loss.Vary your exercise routine. This will make your workout exciting, thus increasing your motivation. Drink lots of water....thats how I lost 25 pounds. Drink half of your weight in ounces.

Thats a lot, try for about 1 pound a week.Keep active.Good Luck

The difference between your current weight and the ideal weight is the weight you wish to lose. The safest way to lose weight is reduce weight gradually, by combining a scientific diet with a suitable exercise like walking . The maximum weight that can be lost safely by a person is 1-2 kg a week. More information on a weight loss diet and exercises available at http://tinyurl.com/jax5h

I think that is a great way to think about it! instead of being like I wanna lose 100 pounds in one month like some people say, and then they get upset because they can t do it and get discouraged....even though it isnt physically possible!!! Yea I just went off on a tangent, but yes I think you have a perfectly realistic goal that means you will have to lose less than 3 pounds a week, so it is perfectly healthy AND if you do it gradually you won t have to worry about looking like a deflated balloon after you have lost weight. So eat 1200-1500 cal a day. And excersize for atleast 40 minutes 6 days a week. Make sure atleast 3 days of that is cardio, and the other days you can still do cardio...or you could weight lift. Good Luck, I know you can do it!

Intense, but works:my friend recently joined cross country, started running 3 miles a day. Not very fast, but just completed it, even though he was usually the last one to finish. He originally had a waist size 34, but no has gone down to a 28. He lost 30 pounds in the four months of cross country season. He didnt change his eating habits much. If you change eating habits on top of running, I m sure weight loss will be even faster.Getting married or something?

nutrisystem and denise austin

This is ideal because it is just less than a year to do it in. Drink plenty of water, eat right, and excersize, and I would say that it is very possible!

Will I lose weight this way? Please answer? -

ok, I m a girl and in my mid teen years. I m around 5 4 to 5 5, no shorter, no taller.I want to lose about five pounds. I currently weight 127 to 128 somewhere in thereNow, this is what I ve been doing:I go on the tredmill every day except Saturday. I go for thirty minutes and do a weight loss program... that includes walking, jogging, etc. I do about two sets of fifteen sit upsFor meals I eat this basically: In the morning one small piece of watermelon. Later, a little bit before lunch, I eat a special K bar and a banana. Then when i get home (around 2:40) I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich on Whole Wheat bread. Then for dinner, I m not that hungry, so I just eat fruit OR another special k bar (they only have 90 calories)Now, I started Monday, so I know i won t see any results right now, but do you think this will work for me? And when do you think i ll start seeing results?thank you SO much! p.s. i m not starving myself, I eat when i m hungry

hun your weight is fine for your hight you don t need to loose any weight

Your diet is extreme and unhealhty. Given the small amount of weight you want to lose, you need to focus more on your health and the weight will go from the exercise. And of course, eight to ten 8 oz glasses of water a day, minimum. What will happen, when you go back to regular food, is you will blow up because you re really doing a starvation diet right now.

p.s. you ARE starving yourself...you are not giving your body enough calories or balanced nutrients to function properly. Ballpark that may be around 700 cals of food...that will put your body into starvation mode. Weightloss will occur but when you start to eat more normally your body will hoard every calorie it can, and any weight lost will return, probably with friends.Get your daily calories up over 1200 and add some some veggies and meat (or other form of lean protein) to that fruit and carb diet.

You need to force yourself to eat more. The plan you have right now will actually cause you to gain weight because you aren t eating enough. Instead of boosting your metaboism, it will slow down trying to hold onto all the food. Also, you aren t eating any fruits or vegetables which is important for energy and weight loss. You need to do weights as well. You won t gain weight or get bulky if you do low weights with high repittions. Muscle boosts your metabolism and burns more calories than cardio. My recommendation is to do weights 3 times a week and aerobics training (20 minutes on any machine but doing intervals) 3 times a week. This will really shock your body an cause you to lose weight. Also, drink lots of water. It s really important. Yu are very close to your goal weight, if not already, so the weight loss will take longer than someone who has to lose lots of weight. Expect to lose .5 -1 lb a week. You ll see results within the month.

Will you give me some quick-fix weight loss tips? -

I have a special occasion to attend next Saturday. I was wondering what are some tips - other than healthy eating and exercise - to help lose as much weight as possible from now until then. I know it won t be much, so please don t tell me that I don t have enough time or whatever...Thanks in advance.

Drink 4 oz of water before , during and after each meal..It s amazing how much weight you can lose and water is great for you.

Three steps that have really helped me are dieting, exercising, and the correct weight loss supplement for losing weight. Focus on those three things and you will lose weight considerably. I exercise 30 mins a day along with taking Proactol, a natural weight loss supplement that I saved money on at theweightlossplace.com Good luck and stay focused = )

Here is a pretty good article I found about short term weight loss: http://www.weightlossfatloss.us/weddings_weightloss.asp

I need to lose weight ? -

I m 5 9 165 lbs. That IS in healthy range, but it s at the top of the healthy range. I want to get healthier. I m getting married in October and I want to look my best, but that isn t the only reason I want to lose weight. I want to generally be healthier. WE both need to lose weight. We don t have money to join a gym or join any kind of weight loss program.Any easy cheap suggestions to lose weight would be great! We both want to get healthier!

Invest in a bike and you and your hubby-to-be can ride together, at least 30 minutes a day. Cut the JUNK!!!... Most of all, excuses are made by those who don t want to push themselves. Talk to a nutritionist and/or fitness instructor on some easy exercise routines. i say you use what you have at home like do 3 sets of 10-12 reps curling a gallon of water, be creative. Daily chores around the house is a great calorie burner like vacuuming, washing the car, gardening, It all takes time and patience...

Besides finding other exercises that you are interested in doing, the other thing you can do is change the way you eat. Some ideas:1) Use smaller plates. (Get seconds if you want, but having the initial small plate may signal to your brain that you are fuller!)2) Portion control (don t let your stomach decide when you are full.3) Eat for fibrous food (like green veggies) or use a fiber supplement. Also with exercise -- try walking to do some of your chores instead of your car and also if you have a bike that should be easier on your ankles. If you live in a warm area, try to get outside and not veg :-)GOOD LUCK!!!

Make some dumbbells out of water bottles and use sandbags to exercise with.

Put on some sneakers and go for a jog.Sit ups.Yoga.Celery.

walk and run around the block drink water not soda

Healthy weight loss fast? -

I m not looking for a miracle here, but I m wondering if anyone has any good advice on the healthiest, fastest way to lose weight. I just bought plane tickets last night to go to Fiji and New Zealand in March, to see my best friend (who has the body of a tennis player) and an old boyfriend (who s a martial arts guru). I know neither of them will judge me for my weight, but it ll bother me. I just want to look my best when I get there. I ve been working out almost every day for weeks now, but I wonder if anyone has any tips on how to slim down and tone up quickly?

here are a few tips as exercising alone cannot help until n unless you have the right control over some of your habits. they will surely help you to look fine within a few days :1. Say no to bread, alcoholic beverages, and carbonated beverages2. Avoid Sugar intake3. Get adequate sleep to feel fresh all the timewatch out for some more tips:

Nope just work out and eat slightly less mostly fruits vegetables. or you can do the simplest thing jst starve urself for a week

The greatest fitness company I know is Fitness Fun.They are dedicate to improving your fitness. They also have a promise to their members that they would loses 2-5 lbs in the first week. If not they you can quite no question ask. It is rare to see that kind of promise these days. If you do not want to loss weight then it doesn t apply to you.Another, part is a weight maintain program. This a 1 month program that helps you keep your weight loss off. They give you the tools you need to do this. After the 1 month is over you will be able to keep the weight off all by yourself. This company has more tools that help the member even more. Email me if you need more info (http://www.F I T N E S S F U N . P A G E . T L IS THE COMPANY WEBSITE(remove spaces)

You have to make sure you are eating a healthy balanced diet also. Whole grains like brown rice, wheat bread, sprouted grain bread, fresh fruit, vegetables and eating 6 small meals a day. The more you eat in a sitting the more your stomach streches and the more your body is likely to store excess calories as fat.

If you can spare 5 minutes to read the instructions given in http://looseyourweight.info you can loose weight by yourself.

I need to lose at least 30 pound in 9 weeks? -

( that s about 2-3 pounds a week) and I do not want to take pills or join weight loss programs. I just want to exercise and eat healthy. Any help?

What I did was I cut my food intake in half. So if I had a bagel every morning, I only had half of one. Get plenty of sleep. It reduces stress, and stress can make you gain weight. Drink a lot of water; it flushes out toxins from your body, and makes you feel full. It might sound weird, but green tea helps not only to lose weight but it makes your body healthier. When it comes to exercise, start slow. Running a mile or playing tennis for a few hours every day can do wonders. And it makes you feel really good after, so you ll want to do more. Yoga can help; I was really apprehensive to try yoga because I thought it was for n00bs, but I tried it, and it feels amazing! So that s it: drink lots of water, cut food in half, drink green tea, and do running exercise. You ll be in shape sooner than 9 weeks!

You can lose more body fat eating protein fat (don t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace. The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers more variety of vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different depends on how active you are.) Start with meat, fats salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods. The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it s own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won t release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing store fat on anything. The body will only release it s fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at 65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis). It takes minimum of 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin which can store the calories eaten into fat. The more protein the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.Simple carbs are addictive can be disastrous to health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want something - have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms cheese. Pork chops smothered with peppers, mushrooms cheese - pork rinds dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad - steaks - a huge sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won t feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone you can start making healthy choices.High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase muscle mass with high HGH levels.Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle nuke 2 minutes. Suggested for daily fiber needs. As long as you have 9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control shouldn t gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Many people gain weight on high carb, do low carb to lose weight then are shocked when they return to high carb gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar maintain weight or health.

I m with you there sister, my goal is 50 pounds in 4 months. The best thing to do is change what you eat and get plenty of exercise. I m going by the if god made it eat it, if man made it leave it alone diet. Its best to set yourself up with plenty of healthy snacks during the day, its much easier to eat healthy if you have everything on hand. A veggie medley with a little bit of ranch (don t forget your greens), 1 or 2 fruits, some whole grain crackers or cereal bars, a salad or wrap and maybe a small candy treat everyday. Just nibble away at food most of the day but limit how much you have with you so you don t over do it. When it comes to sweets it fine to have a small amount here or there so you don t binge later. I bring Hershey s kisses with me, only like 5 for the day, it gives you the satisfaction of sweets but you cant pig out on them. You need exercises every day, from 20 minutes to an hour whatever you have time for, as long as you mix it up between good cardio and muscle building, I hav friends that train for marathons and they say it s surprising what a good 30 minute walk will do a few times a week..

It actually helps if you stop eating red meat and just eat fish, veggies, breads, and fruits. Also, walk everyday. If you can t because it s cold outside, try and do yoga or pilates.Yoga and pilates are very easy to do and you ll become more flexible. Plus... the best part if that you don t sweat, you just feel the burn and focus on exercising your core. it s great! Plus you get to wear the cutest outfits. :D

First, start keeping track of what you eat and how many calories you eat a day. You can use this: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie to help you figure out how many calories your body needs to eat a day since it varies from person to person. Keep away from fatty, high salts, and sugary foods.Second, start exercising. Work on cardio first, like running, biking, etc. That will be what will burn fat. Strength training will build muscle which actually weighs more than fat, but it is still good to do some strength training to help tone your arms and legs.Good luck and remember not to take it too seriously or else you may end up hurting your body instead of helping it.

definately control your diet to at the most 1000 1200 calories TOPS. do not skip meals this causes you lose focus and make you feel more hungry. and obviously excersize dail (jog, run, swim, bike, whatver you can do) you can probably lose this much weight if you stick with this. goood luck :D

I don t know about 30 pounds, depends on your body, but my friend (he s a guy) lost about 20 pounds from JUMPING ROPING everyday, I don t know how many hours he did it but yeah, 20 pounds in 2 months, I think that s a darn lot, don t you think?

Exercise is just as crucial as food intake when it comes to losing weight. There s loads of good guidance for exercise on the web resource in the box below. I lost 9 pounds by following their techniques.

Why am I doing all this working out with no results? HELP ME!!!!!? -

I have a major problem, I ve been working out the last 3 months 4x a week and am NOT losing any weight! I teeter between 138 and 140 every week! When I work out I do an hour a session, 4 miles, I walk a half mile at 3.1mph with an incline of 2, then I go to the elliptical and do 3 miles on the weight loss program, then I go back to the treadmill for a cool down of half mile. By the time I m done I m sweating like a pig, but still am NOT losing weight! What am I doing wrong??? I ve been eating really good lately too, all kinds of fresh fruits and veggies, and smaller portions. For breakfast I have a bowl of raisin bran cerealLunch I have a ham and roast beef sandwich with no condiments, and a cup of applesauce.for a snack I usually have a bananaFor dinner it varies but I usually have a salad with fat free ranch dressing, and soupHELP ME!

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper - meaning step down your caloric intake. Start with a good-sized breakfast though. This will jump-start your metabolism and help you burn more calories throughout the day. Dieting is not good because you deprive yourself of nutrients you need to build enzymes and metabolize food. With that being said- take the carb. intake down some and increase the amount of protein you eat. Proteins help develop digestive enzymes, which, in turn help metabolize foods. Proteins also help in muscle building, and more muscle means a higher metabolism. Try switching up your workout routines, too. Perhaps throw in a little weight circuit training. Even body weight exercises will do. Switching things up and shocking your body is how you achieve results. Best of luck!

just hang on thereyou are losing fat but gaining muscle which is much heavier than fatDO NOT WORRY , you sound like you are doing everything perfectly and 138 -140 is not fat or even heavy so dont worry , TAKE CAREpolly x

Thanks for being so specific...makes it much easier to help you!EXERCISEYou re doing the same exercises over and over and over, which means your body gets more efficient...meaning you burn fewer calories. While you say you re sweating like a pig, I m not exactly sure why because your cardio session doesn t seem all that heavy to me...and I m disabled. If a disabled woman can do more cardio than you, that s your problem: you aren t putting enough into it. So, steps 1 and 2: change your cardio up, and do it harder. Your second problem is no weight training. No, you won t bulk up. Look, if you want to keep burning calories outside of the gym, then put on some muscle. If you just want to burn while you re on your elliptical, then don t do any muscle building exercises. No, you won t bulk up, as if that was a bad thing anyway. So, step 3: add weight training. When I say weight training, I don t mean doing arm exercises for 10-20 minutes. I mean get in there, know what you re doing, target specific muscles, build a plan, push yourself, keep a workout journal. DIETWhat you think is really good actually isn t. Breakfast is okay, but again, variety is what you re looking for. Step 4 is to realize you need nutrition, not just portion control or fat free. All that junk is, well, junk.Lunch is just hilarious, I m sorry, but I have to say so. You re eating meat on bread and a cup of carbs and wondering why this isn t helping? Where are your vegetables? Is the bread at least whole grain? Why not eat fruits or a side of salad instead of applesauce?Snack...like your meals, you need lean protein + natural carbs each time you eat. Chowing down on only a piece of fruit isn t going to help you out. It digests much faster and makes you hungrier sooner. Adding protein slows the digestion. Try adding peanut butter to your banana (just 1/2 teaspoon will be fine). Dinner...like your lunch, it s something you shouldn t be doing. However, you CAN do this well, but because of the rest of your diet, you probably aren t. 1. That salad had better be loaded with vegetables, not just iceberg lettuce, a tomato, and a couple pieces of carrot. 2. Fat free ranch dressing? I know the fat free part appeals to you, but what exactly are you eating? I ll tell you: a bunch of CRAP. Fat free still means they can put in any slew of crappy ingredients. You may as well be using fat free vomit on your salad. Switch it up for something more flavorful. Even just straight balsamic vinegar is sweet and tangy and wonderful.3. I hope that s some delicious home-made soup filled with all kinds of good veggies and lean meat, but I m sure it s just some junk you poured out of a can. So, if you want to make your soup and salad dinner better, here s how:-Make your soup at home, adding fresh ingredients.-Use spinach and a variety of lettuces to make your salad. Add dried fruits, nuts, and vegetables like beets, onion, tomato, olives, mushrooms, carrots, celery, cucumber, turnips, and parsnips. You can also add tofu, chicken, or fish to it, which I recommend doing to get more protein. So...Step 1: Change your cardio.Step 2: Put forth REAL effort. Sweating doesn t always mean that you re doing well...some people just sweat a lot.Step 3: Add weight training.Step 4: Understand nutrition. Do this and you ll see results.P.S. Polly had some encouraging words to say, but I bring you reality. Encouraging words are all well and good, but lying to people isn t. You have a bad routine and an even worse diet. Also, muscle is denser than fat, not much heavier. And since you aren t doing weight training and only do longer cardio sessions, you aren t putting on muscle.
