How many calories do you burn giving birth? -

I m not looking for a weight loss tip obviously... I was just thinking about how exhausted I was after and since I ve been working out lately began to wonder... you must burn many calories after all that work!

I would say A BUNCH! It matters how long you are in labor.. haha. Good question though!

I think it depends on the birth. I assume it would be a lot for any women but i think the actual amount would depend on how long you are in labour for and how long you are pushing. As each birth is different I think the actual amount of calories burned would be different, but we all have more important thing to do while giving birth other then counting calories.

I imagine a great many. This would probably only be a problem if you are malnourished at the time of delivery.

ok, well i really need to lose weight, but my parents refuse to acknowledge this. they just think they have a perfect teenager that is beautiful in their eyes and all the stuff parents think. but they dont realize that i really do need to lose weight. they wont let me diet though. what is an effective way to lose weight so that i dont have to purchase anything or show any drastic changes in my lifestyle? thanks

first of all ur parents might be right, of course they re not gonna let u be a fat pig, they only want the best for you...what s your height and weight?? u should calculate your bmi to see if ur overweight and if u r then just make a few changes to your lifestyleget plenty of exercise like-take walks with friends-go to the swings- or even dance around your room..As for food don t reject any junky food 4ever, just have it in moderationand have plenty of fruit and vegtables, always pile your plate up with salads or 2nd helpings of vegtablesand for snacks its entirely up to you to make the decision not your parents so don t munch on crisps and chocs instead have fruits, veggies, low fat youghurts or even nuts.Don t stress on your weight soo much..you re still young so just enjoy life!

john s answer is correct and healthy. with that said i will offer a strategy that will work, even though i am not suggesting you use it. it is a little extreme for most people but if you can adhere to it you will lose weight, and quickly. buy powdered whey protein (gnc s brand is my personal favorite) and three times a day replace your meal with 24oz of water and a scoop (about 18-24 grams) of protein powder. after day two you will be very hungry and i suggest a blackened chicken ceasar salad for dinner. you will need the oil base as the protien may cause bowel problems. if you are able/willing to exercise that will help you to actually lose fat as opposed to water weight alone. again john is correct, cardio such as hill sprints with a rest in between or fast. slow, fast jogging work great. swimming is great for muscle tone and easy on the joints. if you choose not to exercise than adhere to the three times daily whey protein and water and add a ceasar salad every other day. you do this for a month and you will lose weight. if you need to ease in the first week for dinner have chicken and steamed broccoli (with a light dusting of a strong cheese). there is no way to avoid the shcok of no carbs and drastically decreased caloric intake but after the first week you will go from grumpy to motivated. you will see results quickly which may compund on themselves. again, this is not a healthy way to lose weight but it will definitely get you started quickly and hopefully provide the motivation to continue in a healthy manner...and you will lose weight rapidly!

Eat normal one day and then eat light another day. Go back and forth and exercise at least one hour a day. Now let me tell you a true story. Many a year ago a friend dropped 25 lbs in one month and his room mate came home and found him dead over his computer. Because his heart couldn t take the drop of weight. It is not healthy to lose that much in one time.Lose 10 lbs a month at max.

I don;t know anything about the Atkins diet, but I would honestly recommend a slight diet change (eat healthier) and exercise on a exercise bike for half an hour daily (with resistance) and you could lose up to 5lbs a week, totalling upto 20lbs a month.

Weight problem? -

okay. I m 14 years old. I m a good height (about 5 9 ), and just kinda have a big frame altogether. But anyway, I eat a good diet (LOOOOOOVE the veggies) and don t snack often except for fruits and such...but I do have a decent appitite. It seems like my metabolism just hasnt caught up with it. So basically, I really need to lose some weight. I do excersize, admitably not as often as I should though. In addition to the weight loss tips, does anyone know of any good excersizes for weight loss that I might actually ENJOY doing (that don t require other people)? Thanks for thoughtful answers...(and i ve been nice here so please pay me the same respect)

Get some aerobic exercise every day the kind where your heart rate speeds up and do it for at least half an hour EVERY day and you won t have any problems. Don t try to diet at y our age and get lots of calcium. Eating a cup of yogurt eery day will help keep your weight low and give you calcium. NO diets please, they make you even fatter when you go off them.

um... doing excercise to videos such as tae-bo works. i too need to loose some lbs. swimming is also fun and works every muscle in ur body!!!

oh! know what,, we have the same problem.. but ive learned eventually to accept who i am - and im kinda lazy to do any exercise so i gave up.. ahihihi..ei,, try belly dancing!!! you can buy dvds that ll instruct you about the hows of the dance.. youll enjoy it and maybe eventually, you learn that doing this with you close friends or relatives will make it much more fun!

i have the SAME exact problem. like, EXACTLY. what i did to lose the pounds, was i gound a sport i love to death. i practice it in the street by hitting it against the roof and pasing it when it comes down [volleyball] and it REALLY works. if youre more of a dance, or drama kind of person, then get involoved in a really active drama production with lots of dancing or such, it really helps. since it sounds like you have an awsoeme diet and you do exersice some, this might work. if that doesnt work then i would try doing crunches, i know it isnt fun, but it helps get stomach muscle so you look..not skiiner but it makes you look even fit-er if you get my drift,and it def is fun to see the way you look after the crucnhes. lol. i really wish you luuckk.

Drink lots and lots of water. Eat a salad at least once daily, shoot for two a day with one of the following: baked skinless chicken or baked fish. Try lipton onion cup of soup mix - mixed with ground beef. Shape into a patty bake in the oven, (recipe usually on lipton box). If your not into arobic exercise or running, walk. After I gave birth to my daughter, I have gained 25 pounds from my original weight. I am a full time student and a full time mother to my daughter. I am struggle to take it off, but I don t know how. Well, being commited is the number one thing. If you keep up at any workout, you re sure to see results. I don t have kids, but I go on a 15 minute run every day in the morning (its quick and helps get your legs in shape!). Other things to do when you re crunched for time are to just do some easy lifting with dumbells for a few minutes a day and crunches. Another great thing I recommend to get in shape is pilates! If none of those help you, then I guess you need to try something different. Good luck!

I m going back to school sometime in the middle to end of August, and I m begging you for your weight loss tips. I m 14, 5 5 , and somewhere near 200 pounds. I m tired of being the fat girl!
